2011's GOTY So Far

It’s hard to believe the year is already more then half over.2011 has treated us well when it comes to games, and we still have a ton of great titles to look forward to. Looking back on all the games that came out this year which one would you consider your favorite? If you had to choose a Game of The Year right today, what would you pick?

OllieBoy5377d ago

Portal 2, no doubt. May be Valve's finest game yet.

My runner-up would go to Yakuza 4

LOGICWINS5377d ago

I haven't played Portal 2 yet, but Yakuza 4 is my GOTY so far.

MK9 is the runner up for me.

evrfighter5377d ago

witcher 2 followed by portal 2

CameronL995377d ago

lol Yakuza 4? Really? You didn't play Duke Nukem?

ABizzel15377d ago

All of them are great games, but of the list only

LBP2
Portal 2
LA Noire

Are most likely to win GOTY, with Portal 2 and LBP 2 being the front runners.

NeoBasch5377d ago

The only games I'd consider thus far: Portal 2, Dead Space 2, LittleBigPlanet 2, and inFamous 2. LA Noire was a huge letdown (the story was a mess, and the characters just not compelling). Mortal Kombat's story was downright laughable, but the gameplay was top-notch. Still, not GotY worthy, at least in my opinion.

Have yet to play Witcher 2, Yakuza 4, Killzone 3, Catherine, and El Shaddai.

Portal 2 was fun and I still haven't finished the co-op storyline yet.

But hands down my favorite gaming experiences this year came from Dead Space 2 and LA Noire.

But, it's clear that even these games pale in comparison to the big dogs dropping from September on.

LittleBigPlanet 2 is my GOTY so far. When it was first announced I thought I would skip it because I thought there wasn't much they could add to improve the series. I've never been so wrong in my life.

LBP2 ugc levels are soooo much better than the first games. I'm constantly amazed by what creators can make with the new tools. This has got to be the most creative and customizible game ever.

There's over 5 million levels and counting in LBP2. What other game can say that? Some of the mini game are so fun and addicting. I've played Clockworx 2 over 500 times! Some of the better platforming levels are beautiful and full of creative design.

I've put about 150 hours into LBP2 so far and plan on playing it alot more. I could never get bored with this game. Major props to Media Molecule and the LBP community. I look forward to the PS Move pack, LBP Vita and LBP3.

inFAMOUS 2 is my runner up so far. I expect Uncharted 3 to be my GOTY by years end.

Portal 2 is most definately my goty so far, and i doubt any upcoming games will change that.

solar5377d ago

i love the BF series, but i dont think 3 will put it at GOTY contention. UC3 has such large shoes to fill to match how great UC2 was, so i can see it not getting much GOTY attention if it falls short of the hype. Skyrim? sure.

but mine is def Portal 2. as polished a game as you can get.

Misterhbk5377d ago

My game of the year is definitely infamous 2 thus far. I have a feeling uncharted 3 will steal that spot though.

Rainstorm815377d ago

I think Infamous 2 and Batman Arkham City will battle it out for best Hero game.... But i dont think either will be able to get GoTY....

Im glad no one above stooped so low as to mention LA Noire..... Bubs to everyone above

ATi_Elite5377d ago

When logic meets EA it generates anti-matter ..... so try not to apply it in any meaningful way. Entropy is what matters in there !!

cue the apologist saying that these are mostly just contractors hired for this specific project bla bla bla

The community warned them this would happen but nope they knew better they continued with the live service push the made the art style cartoonish and this is the result

isarai_lee66d ago

It's always so bizarre when studios announce something super early in development under the suggestion of forming the game to player feedback, and then they push against all feedback heading straight for the cliff while everyone is warning them along the way

US Lawmakers Urge Review Of EA Sale

The Congressional Labor Caucus sent a letter to the FTC warning the debt-financed, largely PIF-owned deal could be bad news for workers

lol ya think? they're sending all that work to the cheaper labor market as soon as possible. and FYI, that labor market has exploded in the last 5-10 years. They have enough people to replace every single job. But honestly, EA is over filled with useless upper management as it is. You could probably trim 25% of their staff with no real loss in production. They aren't gamers, they're business execs. Just look at how many AI related jobs they're already starting to post. Its also hilarious that PIF owns Battle field 6

Wait,

The same congress that attacked Lina Khan when she fought the Microsoft Activision purchase.
The same congress that allowed Disney to buy 90% of Fox
The same congress that allowed Liv Golf to buy the PGA
The same congress that sits back while Paramount tries a hostile takeover despite losing the bid for Warner Bros.

NOW, the suddenly cares about doing what's "right" for works? Yeah, right.

No. There were elections and some of the scum were replaced.

TheColbertinator100d ago

Different elections. Different scum. Same results.

rlow1100d ago

i know its a long shot, but i hope this gets shot down.

EA now owned by The Saudis and Ubisoft to inevitably be owned by China. In hindsight, once EA and Ubisoft started having their financial woes, they should have pulled a Koei Tecmo/Bandai Namco by merging their operations into one.
