my god the sniper level in CoD 4 is about the coolest thing I have ever played...finished that, then decided to download this 2.0 thing to play more online...I am officially addicted...

I really am pissed about the lack of in game messaging...but whatever...an updates an update...its not adding anything bad...its just not adding what I wanted first...

by the way this download is probably the fastest update I have ever done...anyone else?...2 minutes and I am already at 60%...these things usually take like 20 minutes total on a good day...

It doesn't have in-game XMB but I'll take anything that makes the PS3 better. Now I just need a PSP. Soon, very soon.

Is that peeing on KMart's (it's scary I've been around the ps3 section long enough to remember trolls more than fans) avatar? It's very cool.

Anyways, I haven't found myself using most of their features. I think for developers in-game XMB would be good, but only if it doesn't sacrifice memory usage. In fact, as a gamer, I would rather they make the XMB even more efficient instead so the developers can make better games. Not the greatest update, but it still has some pretty solid features that some people have obviously been asking for in the playstation blog.

and although it may not have XMB in-game, being able to organize the games/demos and videos is very, very welcome and I also look forward to the theme options that we'll be seeing soon.

When you download a trailer, there's a new icon above "Background download" you can preview the video while downloading. Think of it as a "stream"

Wouldn't even let me sign into PSN without updating. Can't wait to try out the PSP remote play feature. Might start having more bathroom breaks at the office if it really works as well as they've promised. =P

The new remote play options are freakin' awesome!

Being able to access my PS3 with my PSP while I'm gone is so cool, as is the ability to start downloading content from the PSN Store before I get home, especially since you can turn your PS3 on or off from the PSP.

Sony's remote play function really is sweet and I hope they continue to expand on an already awesome feature.

in game XMB isnt going to appear until Home comes out this spring, Home was supposed to come out this year, but since they delayed it, it also possibly affected in game XMB, I remember a freind if mine who had a contact with a person that worked in Studio Cambridge, The same studio thats developing Home. He said that Firmware 2.0 was supposed to come out with In game XMB with Home Capabilities. although, I tried not to believe him, he basically told me everything that was going to happen in E3 2k7. So I think we wont see in game XMB for the next 4-6 months.

Just got it installed and checked out.

I like it.Even though theres no in-game XMB this update its still a nice update.I like how you can use those cool icons with your own background.I like how you can adjust the brightness of the background and the color and all.News ticker is nice.Tried remote play and it works, turned it on and off.I noticed after I installed the update and rebooted it it updated something else then rebooted again.I also noticed with remote turn on the green internet light stays on when your PS3 is off meaning it stays connected to the internet when its off therefore making remote turn on possible.I'm sure they put a lot into getting that remote turn on working.Even without in-game XMB (which we will get eventually) this is a nice update.I love how since I bought my PS3 it has continued to change and get better.The PS3 is a lot different (better) since it was launched and there are so many possibilities still out there.I give kudos to Sony.I was wanting in-game XMB in 2.00 but that will come later and Sony has still delivered an amazing update.

Downloading as I type... it's been 10 minutes or so... and its only at 3%... does it really take this long? is the file really that big? or is my sister downloading crappy rap music on limewire slowing everything down -_-

...downloaded faster than any other update for me.Took me like 10 minutes or less but I started downloading it like THE minute it came out and now everyone has caught wind its available and that slows it down big time when thousands of people are downloading it at the same time.Kinda like update Thursdays when demos take like 6 hours.Be patient you'll get it.

literally took me only like 4 minutes to get the whole thing...took longer to install than it did to download...never had a FW download so fast...

it is pretty cool...if they actually give first minute news on that ticker...it will be worth it...if its ridiculously slow to update (like it saying next week "Uncharted demo now available") it will be a waste...we will see...

it came with the "air brush" theme...decent icons...ghey as feck background...

the store will probably have some with its thursday update...they have actually done a pretty decent job of putting game wallpapers up regularly on there...

Sony will release a program, there's already one for PSP, so hopefully they new theme creator for PS3 will follow shortly.

the airbrush theme is pretty cool... minus the ghey girly backgrounds(my girlfriend loves them) anywayas imma get a picture of the dream theater logo and put it in different colors and put a glowing edges filter on it or w/e... neon line filter... you get it lol.... t'will go perfect... for now i'm going with the origional lifestream bakcground thing... and it's black =D

the next update will include ingame XMB, and Divx/Xvid support/codecs. Actually any support for other video formats its GREATLY welcome. Otherwise, this is not a bad update at all. Better than nothing.

I downloaded the update, applied the air paint theme now I cant get online with the PSN!! maybe the service is taking a hit from all the update downloads, I'll try again later. if anybody else is having this problem let us know, so I'll know im not the only one with this problem!!

oh!! something else I dont get, I can stream movies from my PC an hit the PS home button an access the XMB without exiting the movie, I can pull up other movies an game demos, everything like the normal XMB but with a movie playing, so why cant I do this while im in game!!

Firmware confirmed and downloaded.
No music ingame or messaging ingame also.
Just to let you know there is no secret hidden away, only think I can see that is improved so far is online video playing, some formats may have been inhanced.

But if you do, you would have heard of HOME. If you heard of HOME you know its coming in march...

If you know that, you would know that Sony isn't going to release some temporary version of in-game XMB. HOME is the thing that is going to do all of that. If you were a ps3 owner, you would have seen the videos.

So again, I doubt you even have a ps3. If you do, then you are a complete moron.

Agreed Wil,

The ONLY thing I'd give the Dashboard over the XMB is that the marketplace is integrated with it's own blade which WASN'T always there in fact it became available in May. Oh and it shows when someone is watching a DVD. Otherwise the Dashboard is clunky as hell and aside from switching blades which is really fast, the rest is a chore to go through if you need to get too deep in.

Yeah I have music streaming from my PC for ingame use but I'm screwed if I want to hear UNKLE or something from the end of the alphabet. They've sped it up over the months somehow but it's still slow compared to the XMB. The XMB wins though, it's vastly more intuitive, actually customizable now WITHOUT having to pay for themes, organization's a breeze, it's faster to navigate, the audio/video controls are mapped to the controller buttons, oh and the little clips that play for games and videos are pretty dope.

Umm I dont see anyone else with this on here yet..
My ps3 keeps turning on and off all by itself with the remote play turn on activated. Anyone else second this? After a few minutes it just turns on by itself then a few minutes later powers down again. REALLY annoying! I thought it was suppose to stay off the whole time, thats the point!

I bought it off J-PSN around 9:30 and I've been playing ever since. I'm surprised this isn't coming out in the US anytime soon. It has Folklore's graphics and Eternal Sonata art style and design. Kinda plays like Zelda meets Mutant Storm.

Update: I ended my game and exited, but when I went back I couldn't play where I left off. I had to start at the very beginning of the game. It auto-saves so I don't get it. Me sad...

It's your router. You probably do not have the correct ports forwarded, or your router does not support UPNP. Follow the link I provided and follow the instructions at the end of the page:
