Skyrim NPC interaction can still feel "weird"

OXM UK: "Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim game director Todd Howard has said that making unscripted non-player character interaction feel natural is a trick Bethesda still has trouble with."

it will probably be better than oblivion but i think they just need to work on the skyrim engine more.

Heartnet5436d ago

Tbh it wouldnt be difficult to make this game better than oblvion.. just saying

Tainted Gene5436d ago

Yeah, b/c 5+ years is already not enough....

Tr10wn5435d ago

Yeah... so, mate go make one of the best RPG's out there and then give me a better sequel.

P.S. my respect to Bioware for doing that with Mass Effect.

I bet this game will win game of the year

I want to know more about the weapons

femshep5436d ago

i wanna know how there handleing the leveling system

like oblivion where you had to sleep to implement the perks of your level up

or like fallout where it stops the game in the middle of whatever you are doing making it impossible to do anything you need to concentrate on

i hope they do the oblivion way cause fall out way is just stupid

lMHl5436d ago (Edited 5436d ago )

I hope they make a new way

AKS5436d ago

I'd prefer the Fallout 3 method. I hated trying to limit the number of times I used my shield before I slept in order to get the maximum upgrade. I loved the game, but the leveling system in Oblivion was awful.

kaveti66165436d ago

I don't have any problems with the Fallout 3 way of leveling up. There is no advantage in the game of leveling up on your own time. It makes no difference.

In contrast, in a game like Kotor, where your leveling up affects your ability to be a higher-ranked Jedi in the game, the player has the option of not leveling up immediately and instead can gather as many experience points as he wants until he reaches Dantooine (I think that's the name of the planet where the player will train to become a jedi). At that point, you can level up as a Jedi and reach a higher rank, rather than wasting some of your leveling on your previous class, which was either scout, soldier, or scoundrel.

A major problem I and my friends have with Oblivion is that when you as a player level up and become more powerful, all the enemies and creatures occupying the world around you will also level up, so the feeling of accomplishment is lost on the player. If you want to play a game where you level up and feel more powerful against enemies by killing them quicker, Oblivion will be a frustrating experience.

femshep5436d ago

how is the fallout way good?

it freezes you in mid game making it possible to be stealthy (i play stealth)

no to mention it automatically heals you so the challenge if you in mid battle is taken away

i do agree that they need to take away the scaling system to some extent but it makes the game pretty bad if i can't explore right when i start the game and i have to be a certain level to go places.....it was like that with new vegas as soon as i stepped out of the tutorial area i got mauled by scorpions i couldn't even think about doing damage too (though i do know it was developed by obsidian an not bethesda)

i hate being interrupted when im in the middle of something important

maybe if they let you go in and manually level up and not stop the game and break the immersion that elder scrolls is famous for

It be close but i think rage will win goty, it be a tough choice, it seem rage has everything like graphics and characters plus its a new ip, the game industry going to probably pick rage b/c they want game developer to see more new ip and innovation for the industry kinda like rdr.

ninjablaze5436d ago

they don't know what they're talking bout

Skyrim is best game ever of decade

AKS5436d ago (Edited 5436d ago )

How long have you been playing Skyrim?

It looks good to me as well, but it's rather early to proclaim it the best of the decade.

I hope this is a joke post for your sake.

SilentNegotiator5436d ago

I've either come across a rather smart satire, or a fool.

Good one!......or, uh, not?

bwazy5436d ago

The only interactions that will be weird is when I get bored, create a separate save file buy a house, kill every woman in the city, strip them of their clothes and stack their bodies in the basement to cherish.

THATS WHEN IT GETS WEIRD!

ChrisW5436d ago

Heck, you could do that in Morrowind!

Tainted Gene5436d ago

@bwazy

HAHAHAHHA wow, thats probably the craziest %%$# I heard someone do in Oblivion. LOL

RememberThe3575436d ago

I haven't played Oblivion yet but I'm thinking of picking it up and playing through now that Skyrim is coming out. Should I spend the time or just wait?

Ser5436d ago (Edited 5436d ago )

You should pick up the 5th anniversary edition that releases soon. You get all the DLC, a steelbook case, and a $10 off coupon for Skyrim. It's only $30.

I'd say give it a shot! I loved Oblivion. A lot of people give it flak for not being the exact same game that Morrowind was, but I had no problems with it.

aPerson5436d ago (Edited 5436d ago )

Oblivion is probably worth playing if just to get an idea of how much of an improvement Skyrim will be.

It doesn't hold up well to today's standards, so don't expect it to be amazing, though it was great for it's time.

jjb1981165d ago

That's ridiculous, lol. I'm waiting for the guy that says its too cpu-intensive for the Switch 2. This game is old af and has been released like 17 times.
