Square-Enix said the same thing, yet the 360 version of FFXIII looked like a completely different game.

480i native resolution, jaggies everywhere, no audio. All that and they still needed 3 DVDs.

If there is no difference and just a few hours ago they said that 360 version is massively compressed and of lower quality, that can only mean two things:

1. They mutilated the PS3 version to be on par with 360. If that's the case, then fuck you microsoft.

2. They are lying since the truth would kill 360 sales (that quality sucks compared to PS3).

Where did they say lower quality? I didn't see the article.

If you are saying that due to compression, they are talking lossless compression, like a zip or 7z file, not like mp3 or mp4 which is lossy.

What it would mean, depending on the CPU and type of compression, you may or may not see longer load times on the xbox due to loading a leaving means reading the data, uncompressing, and then loading into RAM.

LOL @ the trolls bringing up 360's Final Fantasy and exaggerating beyond belief..

Final Fantasy 13 for 360 was in Black and white..it was so blurry you couldn't make out characters or text. There was no sound (LMFAO)
There were 18 discs and the only way to play each disc you needed to jog 3 miles with the disc taped to your head or you would get an unreadable error on your Xbox.

It's hilarious to see..everyone knows that the PS3 difference simply came in the cut scenes which were Blu-ray quality. That's cool..but it was the same game..the cutscenes still looked as fantastic as an Square Enix adventure..

On topic, it's hilarious how these goofs spend all day trying to smear the 360 version so OMG noooobody will buy it for their 360..when they are convincing NO ONE..

Loved Demons Souls..bought it day one for my Slim..I loved how when the word of mouth got around for the game it was sold out EVERYWHERE..I'm a huge King's Field fan and wow did Demon bring that style of gameplay screaming into this gen. But I'm definately earning achievements on my 360 for incentive to get killed '1000' times this time around. Plus I can't wait to see what the game will be like over Live..if they keep the multi-player aspects of Demons Souls.

The funny part is the idiots bickering all day about which system is better are the ones who don't even support the actual game when it releases..it's just silly console war dinosaur talk..let it go..and play some games

i dont care what it'll look like. as a PS3 user been used to the back end of the stick when it comes to multi platform games im just wondering if its harder to beat than the first one now

Couldn't possibly have worse graphics than the first, and I loved that game! The Dragon King boss had some of the worst stuttering this gen!

This is not really a game about graphics but at least it will look better than the original!

All though, can't say I wouldn't be disappointed if my version was noticeably worse than the other!(is that really how you spell 'noticeably'... Firefox seems to think so! I'm pretty sure this is wrong.)

1 disc VS. 3 discs is a difference. It`s not gonna make or break anything for people who own only 1 console. But it makes a difference to people who own both PS3 and 360.

Actually I would rather switch a disk every 12 hours than have to sit through an hour long mandatory install (including all the stupid mandatory Ps3 updates) after I spend 15 minutes clearing enuff space on my hard drive for yet another game install, before I can play the game for the first time. That Sucks WAAAAY more than a 2 second disk swap, and you know it, stop pretending.

I wonder if there is even one PC gamer in the past 25 years who would have rather switched disks than install the entire game to the HDD?

I don't even think they give you the option to not install the game anymore on PC. No idiot would choose not to install the game on PC and they often would rather sit through the hella-long download and than the install!

Compressing game data does NOT lower video quality. They are talking about lossless compression, like a zip or 7z file, not mp3 or mp4 which is a lossy compression.

The only thing this would cause is possibly longer load times depending on the compression type and amount, but no quality loss.

If there are videos, those might lose quality, but if everything is in engine, that type of compression is lossless....

Its amazing how much hate a developer gets for going multi platform.

They deliver arguably the best RPG of the gen and then are ripped because they put their next game on both consoles.

Are you people STILL harping on about the number of discs?? I dont care if it was 4 discs as long as the game played great! Also with the additional 1gb of space now available that counts for something.

With the PS3 you have either mandotory installs or none and also long loading times. Games on the 360 can be FULLY installed by choice and loading times reduced.

The ONLY thing easy on the PS3 is 1 disc but I rather have multiple discs rather than mandatory installs and long loading times example MGS4 omg that was diabolical!

there are nearly no difference, minimal at most, crysis2 and Rage looks better than ps3 exclusives, yet, the games et realeased on xbox 360, take a look at upcoming 3rd party hits, no developer has mention that ps3 version gonna have more gfx detailes, size, geometry, more Lightning, etc....

this not like splinter cell on xbox 1 vs ps2 where gfx got worse, lighning cut out, level size decreased, effects gone, bump maps gone, self shadowing gone or the impossibility to port doom 3 or half life 2 to ps2 or gamecube, facts are facts both systems are nearly equal with exception of 360 having better multiplat experience, cod black ops, red dead, gta, resi, orange box and lots more look better on XBOX 360

I know that I'll get tons of disagrees but that the truth, if u can't face it that mean u fail at life

the only system that can have better gfx than 360\ps3 is the WIIU, maybe

That my friend i don't agree. Crysis 2 looks great on the xbox and ps3, but it can't match the depth of graphics from Uncharted 2 and 3...

I can know, i actually played the game!
Rage i can't tell because i don't have a time machine.. So tell me? Is it great? Did u play it on your own Full HD LCD?

Gameplay video's cant always tell the truth, look at Haze...and Farcry 2...

imo crysis 2, uncharted 2 and 3 and kz3 and rage(hopefully) are the best looking games in this gen

crysis 2 has better lighning, crysis 2 lighning is the best I've ever seen, size, explosions, effects and geometry than uncharted, uncharted has better character model and animations than crysis, both games have amazing water effects

offtopic, some guys only focus on gfx and foget about art styel, art is what makes uncharted feel like uncharted, gta feel like gta, doom, mgs etc....., look at donkey kong country returnes on wii, it have an amazing art direction which make the world feel awesome, look at banjo on 360, the game world SUCKS, even if it's 720p

art style is important, not only TECH

That's actually not what fans of Demon's Souls wants to hear. I don't understand why devs come out and say things like this. Think about it. Who wants to be told that, even though they spent the money to have something amazing and to its fullest potential, they have to have it at less than what it can be because it would hurt the feelings of someone else?

Anyone here have younger siblings? Remember what it was like when you couldn't do or have something because your younger sibling couldn't do or have it for any reason?

Yeah, this bodes well. But then, DS was never about graphics or anything. Here's hoping there weren't cuts.

Also, it's not like Demon's Souls couldn't fit in -one- DVD. Why would they cut content? In fact, I remember some concepts that were cut from the -original- Demon's Souls. Not to mention that -every- single time someone complains about "cut content", they don't even know that's a NORMAL STAGE IN DEVELOPMENT PLANNING. Those complaints are the purest form of retardation.

Anyways, they're creating the game they want, and they're going to deliver -exactly- that.

We're not talking about Demons's Souls, we're talking about Dark Souls. And when it comes to cutting content from potential 50GB of space, it comes down to only 3 reasons.

1. The game is larger than 50GB.

2. The content was cut because it won't fit with the game style or is impractical in some way.

3. The content may be too expensive to produce or is going to be reserved for future DLC.

These are the cases when dealing strictly with PS3. When dealing with 360, content is cut due to lack of space. That is FACT. And Dark Souls is supposed to be larger than Demons's Souls as well as more open world. So there is good reason to think about these things.

as far as i understand, 6th stone was broken by design.
- you find parts of it all over the game
- it is told that stone that broke was beginning of the fog
- flame lurker looks awfully like giant on the 6th stone and fl is in world 2

You do know that the creator intended from the beginning for the sequel to be multiplatform.

I'm sure Dark Souls will be larger and more satisfying than Demons Soul and as for stuff getting cut..how will you ever know its been cut if it never makes it in the game ;-)

i consider my self ultra fan of ds and i have to wonder... why would i bother if both versions look the same (or different), in most cases, differences are so small that you don't notice it unless you stare at stand still pixels. i prefer better playing game over better gfx any day. demon's souls never looked especially gorgeous, playing was heavenly, while U2 for example looks gorgeous and plays bad.

what makes me happy about dark souls going cross platform is the fact that both consoles will be on the same p2p network, which means even larger community where i can invade. and couldn't care less if x version will have slightly better colors and y slightly better shading

Well demons souls had just 5.9GB of data on a bluray disc!Im not seeing dark souls having more that 8GB so i guess xbox 360 owners dont need to be worried.Also its not the first time From Software works on the 360 hardware.

They could be telling the truth ... if they downgrade the 360 version to make up for the fact that there's no bluray, then maybe they'll downgrade the ps3 version so they can say "there's no difference." That would be pretty sad if it was true though.
