From what I can tell

1. Great game
2. Flawed

It controls fine, the multiplayer seems fine, but... the A.I kinda sucks, only 8 maps, with little variation.

If this generation has proved ANYTHING it's that, re-releases work. Here's an idea, give the main disk owners patches and update as they come. Make them good. Improve the A.I especially in singleplayer so they are more player focused. Then in 6 months when this game has went from a 5/10 to a 8/10 which is do-able with smaller fixes just release Brink: Resurection on PSN/XBL for $20. You will sell a million+ by doing that I mean Battlefield 1943 sold well not because it was cheap but because it was the right price. I'd pay $20 for it. And have DLC maps for $1.99, which new disk owners get free or something.

Release 5 maps... that's $30, there you've made back developement costs.

Easiest fix of them all? PLAYER ONLY matches, where you only face human oppnents, or where each team has a constant amount of bots 0, 5, 10. Regardless of how many people join there will always be the set amount of bots. The difference is if one team is owning then the opponents bots are better.

There's gonna come a point where there is only so much they can do to fix the console versions.
So if you bought the PC version, you made the right choice because Splash Damage can completely change the game with patches in a way that they just can't do with console games.
For example: Team Fortress 2 on PC is a COMPLETELY different game than when it launched.

This is a situation where a little insight into the industry at an earlier stage of production would have seriously helped out Brink.

Firstly, look at others treading the same path. Games that cross mp and sp? Left4dead - separated coop and pvp a good year or two before release due to negative feedback during testing. So when a company as experienced as valve are stepping off of an idea then maybe you should consider why.

Secondly, look at similar games that package sp and mp so closely. The most obvious example for me is UT3. It taught us that multiplayer match + bots + cutscene does not equal a campaign yet brink trips right up into that pothole regardless.

Thirdly, if SP is your weak point don't make it the crux of your marketing campaign. The background of the ark and brink's storyline permeate just about every damned advert I've watched for it yet it seems to be an experience that's almost completely involved in multiplayer.

For me brink represents a failed attempt to meld sp and mp, but that doesn't necessarily make it a bad game. It's still got some solid multiplayer under there and the bulk of reviews seem to focus on their fury at a misrepresented SP, bugs, and shoddy AI. Well one of those things can be fixed with a patch and the other two just need human company.

I am still pretty positive on this game... but it definitely took some wrong turns in regard to single player.

this is a stretch and i know that it's weird, and probably just me, but to be honest i'd enjoy brink a megaton more if they had more and better death animations W/ ragdoll physics.

In a shooter like brink i think that's important, this will probably make me sound sick, but it just looks awesome and is more satisfying when you throw a grenade and whoever got hit flies, and ragdolls. In that case you're like, wow, intense, it's like the movies, awesome. in brinks case it's more like...oh win, good, whatever, same death every time, it just makes the game look silly, and last gen.

heck for me, in a game like brink where the whole game is gunning on multiplayer maps anyways, i'd go as far as to say that it's a deciding factor in whether I'm getting it or not.

and if not ragdolls, atleast more animations, either one is just as good as the other. But one animation, without even a ragdoll, that's kinda lame

Can't wait to pick this one up...no surprise they're supporting it so well.

I waited years for this? I ran my mouth about how it was gonna change fps games? I love tf2, lfd, and other coop shooters. I hate Brink. I hate it. Lag, jaggies, framerate, poor animations. Perfect Dark Zero looks better IMO. I'm so dissapointed.

This game ain't half bad. On PC. On anything else, it's downright terrible.

I dont see why they even bothered with a SP mode it always looked like a multi-player game they should have just stuck with that and added more game modes.
