Splash Damage working with Stadia on new title

From Splash Damage: "We’re thrilled to finally announce that we’re working on an exclusive title in partnership with Google Stadia.

At Splash Damage we’re always looking to innovate, and always looking for partners and platforms that allow us to do just that. We’ve been huge fans of Stadia ever since it was announced and have been amazed by both the technology and passion for gaming that the Stadia team has."

Paying off devs to develop for your system isn't going to resurrect it Google, but marks for trying I guess.

Christopher2266d ago

I thought exclusives were what drew people to platforms?

lodossrage2266d ago

@ Christopher

it is. But exclusives isn't the only major issue Stadia has. So paying off a developer to make a potentially exclusive game for it isn't enough.

But to be fair I get the point you were making in regard to Tross's post

Christopher2266d ago (Edited 2266d ago )

***But exclusives isn't the only major issue Stadia has.***

Then why are people criticizing them for trying to fix one of their issues? It might not be enough, but it's way more than doing nothing in that regard. Do people just want more to complain about or for Google to actually try and turn it into the platform that could succeed?

***But to be fair I get the point you were making in regard to Tross's post***

We live in a world of hypocritical talking points, don't we? It's weird when an argument works over here, but not over there. People find a reason for them to not work when it suits them.

BiofourceGun2266d ago

i don't plan on gaming on stadia but discrediting payed exclusives while praising other companies to do the same thing it sounds i don't know conflicting. even if it's for a platform you dislike. you're either for paid exclusives or you're not. or if you want your favorite company to have all of the paid exclusives, then you are in support of paid exclusives.

sprinterboy2266d ago

Companies like Sony generally breed great studios over many years who go onto making great exclusives so yes exclusives do matter.
Buying studios doesn't necessarily mean great exclusives come automatically, great exclusives take time to breed.
So if your comment was a dig @ tross or playstation for saying exclusives don't count now then your comment is epic fail.

xTonyMontana2265d ago (Edited 2265d ago )

Exclusives are what drive people to CONSOLE platforms

Fixed it for you.

@Biofource

I personally don't and have and will continue to criticise Epic for it however many of Sony's exclusive stuff is due to limited developer resources and/or lack of popularity on other systems. The funding in some cases SFV for example was only made because of Sony's funding. I think most gamers also support many of them going multiplatform because it allows more gamers to experience those games.

To your first statement - buying studios doesn't necessarily mean anything. It doesn't ensure anything, but it's an investment, and if the studio is properly nurtured, it can flourish into a great studio.

To your second statement - Chris made a completely fair point and he's not wrong. Your sensitivity and paranoia are the problem. He wasn't jabbing either Tross or PlayStation.

Exclusives incentivize people to buy a certain brand. Customization and freedom incentivize people to invest in rigs and so on and so forth.

King_Noctis2265d ago (Edited 2265d ago )

I actually agree with Christopher with this point. Exclusive is what bring people to a console/platform. It doesn’t matter where they get those exclusives from, platform/console makers don’t earn money by just boasting how many studios they have, or how many studios they had “built and nurture”. Only fanboys care about that.

it's a tricky platform i think. with the internet connection thing. I think Geforce now is in a lot better position, because it allows gamers to fallback on their own hardware when they're unsatisfied with their streaming results. at the very least you get to keep all of your games and still replay them at all times.

meganick2266d ago

Waste of time and money. Stadia is dead.

Az1ner2266d ago

Best of luck to them. More games is always great if made well.

Adding another band aid to something that's all ready spent too much time on life support

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio37d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing37d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9237d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit37d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing37d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9237d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
