Sony, once you turn on PSN and the network is secure, all this mess will go away. So HURRY UP!

Max_Dissatisfaction5496d ago

Unless the hackers do good by their word and attack them (successfully) again. Then it would just be an epic (I want to say fail but I know that will get me burnt at the stake so I'll say) disaster

user8586215495d ago

that would be seriously embarrassing on sonys part, so yh make use of your time sony and secure psn!

-MoOkS-5495d ago

No it wont. First of all: There will be soo many people trying to get online at once and download the update that the servers will crash. Secondly: Anonymous have promised to attack a 3rd time once the network is back online.

teapacket5495d ago

Of course you would want that to happen, right?

You're not a software technician so I don't see how you know that the servers will crash.

Sharingan_no_Kakashi5495d ago

@mooks

No it won't. What do you think sony is beefing up their network for. It's not just for security but server strength as well.

dragonelite5495d ago

I can see this happening best way would be to split it up like japan first then us then europe.
Start in the middle of the week and be done for the weekend so people can start playing again.

And sony can stfu with not knowing stuff because when so many information gets copied and stolen a alarm bell should go off.

Fulensenca5495d ago

I want to hope that you do not wish that millions of players can not play because that would make of you a sun of a b!tch ... not just a trolling fanatic fanboy.

Yes sony please hurry up and put PSN up without knowing that everything is in working order and without testing for security loopholes etc. please put it up knowing that somebody will try again, but forget that just put it back up.. i mean they might not try to hack again so it doesn't matter if you don't test it.. we can just blame you again if we get hacked, c'mon sonny put psn back up.

/S

Bigpappy5496d ago (Edited 5496d ago )

Dear customers, it is with great sadness and regret that I have to inform you, that our network has been breached and that your personal information, including credit card numbers, might have been accessed by criminal elements. Please take whatever actions you deem necessary to protect yourself from identity theft. Here are some suggestions: ... We apologize for this security failure, but are working to get you details on the severity of the data intrusion and are working with law enforcement to find the perpetrators and bring them to justice. Please call this "800" number or drop us and email with any questions you may have. We will try to respond to your concerns as soon as we can, but please keep in mind that there are millions affected by this callous act.
Regards,

Cazy Ken.

Why couldn't Sony have done that, DAY 1!?

Oxymoron0285495d ago

Because Sony didn't know day one.

Unless you are insinuating that Sony are in fact clairvoyant.

jimmywolf5495d ago

they can say what they want but they new before a week passed an took down ps online their trying too cover it up an it backfired

Oxymoron0285495d ago

@jimmywolf;

They can't lie or cover up their tracks. The investigation was handled by an outside company, the information Sony gets is from this outside company.

There for, if they lied or covered anything up this outside company would have to come forward and say so.

HeavenlySnipes5495d ago

Did you read the reports on PSN or you all just listening to the media BS? THEY CLEARLY SAID THAT THEY SHUT DOWN PSN ON THE 20TH BECAUSE THEY DETECTED AN INTRUSION. NEXT, THEY HIRED AN EXTERNAL SECURITY TEAM TO INVESTIGATE THE EXTENT OF THE BREACH. ON THE MONDAY, THEY FOUND OUT THAT CC INFO MAY HAVE BEEN STOLEN AMONG OTHER THINGS. THEY NOTIFIED US THAT DAY.

Jesus Christ, its RIGHT THERE on the PS Blog.

Oxymoron0285495d ago

@HeavenlySnipes;

I don't think logical thinking works on these people :/

zealottt5495d ago

Because Sony are a bunch of retards.

"Hey guyz, all your credit card details got stolen, but we are going to let you know one week later cause we are cool like that. Problem?"

teapacket5495d ago

Except, there's no evidence of creditcard information being stolen. Sorry but your sarcasm meter is broken.

Falaut5495d ago

ahhhh Bigpappy, been reading some of your tripe for some time now...

http://i1124.photobucket.co...

Bigpappy5495d ago (Edited 5495d ago )

Funny! But that's an illegal blow. I don't think I deserve that blow. I just think Sony was too casual about letting people know, there was possible danger ahead. I do commend them on the actions they have now taken, after "speaking with the FBI and congress, to ensure against "Identity Theft" and "Credit Fraud".

I am satisfied since they have taken responsibility for the possible misuse of the stolen data. They have finally taken the users info as seriously as they should have from day one. There is plenty of time to investigate after looking out for the inocent customers who can ill afford a hit to their finaces as Sony surely can.

Veeger5495d ago

Imagine you run a grocery store. You notice a shoplifter on your CCTV but can't see what he's taken before he runs away. Now think, how long will it take you to count your apples and oranges before you know what he stole? And remember, it's 100 million apples and oranges to count.

--------5495d ago

I'm sure they've got some apple and orange counting software and a whole team of apple and orange counting specialists.

Along with a PR team that only know how to be ridiculously vague.

dabri55494d ago

The is a log on the server that records actions taken on the server. While your example would require a lot of work, the real world application of this is not as complex. If Sony had even the minimum amount of security, thenthey had the logging feature enabled and could check to see what actions were taken and by what users. It simply took them that long to realize someone had gotten that far. Then they loooked further to check the damage. If Sony didn't even have logging enabled then someone needs to be fired cause they aren't doing their job.

teapacket5495d ago

Interesting, but I still think Sony acted swiftly. They had to carry out an investigation out first before notifying anyone of the breach. If there was a glitch in the system and they reported this falsely, it would look stupid.

StanRaimondi5495d ago

Alot of people don't or just can't understand that.

clintos595495d ago (Edited 5495d ago )

Yeah its only those who support hackers & 360 fanhoez who are making it seem like hackers are the innocent ones here & sony are the ones to blame. I say let them have their parade, this is just another obstacle sony shall overcome.

Sharingan_no_Kakashi5495d ago

What if...

when psn came back it came with a beast load of features like the option to download google chrome and some other features that people been asking for.

Looks like PlayStation took a hit with Marathon and is now quietly adjusting prices worldwide to recover the losses

andy8526d ago

Lets be honest raising prices doesn't do that when no one's buying it. I imagine the profit it greater selling 10 times more at a lower price

Pergele25d ago

Whatever you say buddy, let's all wear the tinfoil hats.

IceKoldKilla25d ago (Edited 25d ago )

LMFAO Your comment alone says a lot more about you than anything else. When has one game not selling 10 million copies made a company raise the prices of their console? Then Xbox would be costing $5000 by now lol. You remind of the crazy drug addicts on the street rambling on about conspiracies. xD You sure you don't need a hug, buddy?

ChunkyMonk25d ago

One game that Sony payed $200 million for. lol
Also, you sure were quick to get triggered. Maybe your the one who needs a hug?

Eonjay25d ago

If nothing else, we should be united against the real issue here. AI and unnecessary tariffs that are effecting all gamers.

Athlon10126d ago (Edited 26d ago )

The price increases are due to the RAM demand associated with AI and the US-Iran war. You can look to any business news website and local news to see that. Heck, even the 2026 Asus Zenbook Duo I've been eyeing has faced delays and has had a price increase of $400; that laptop has two specs. Asus is doing a staggered release with per-orders for the lower spec now and shipping in May and pre-orders for the higher spec that I'm eyeing starting in June. Basically, all computer manufactures are affected. It'll most likely start affecting smart phones too if it hasn't already. I can't remember the last time any major console maker (Nintendo, Sony, Sega, etc) increased the price of their console mid cycle outside of Microsoft just to make more profit.

S2Killinit25d ago

Its not the war. Its the RAM issue.

jznrpg25d ago

War is causing gas prices to rise. Transport of everything requires gas so the prices of those items go up as well. So it does have an impact

Athlon10125d ago (Edited 25d ago )

The blockage of the Straight of Hormuz due to the US-Iran war has affected raw components used in semi-conductor manufacturing such as bromine, aluminum, and helium. Iran had attacked the liquified natural gas (LNG) plant in Qatar which is a large producer (1/3 globally) of helium which is used in semiconductor etching. So it's the both the war and the RAM crises.

badz14925d ago

Oh no...should I get the Pro now before the price increase?

I dont think that'll ever happen. But i must say back in the day, they were definitely trying because they were more cash rich than their competitors.

CosmicTurtle38d ago

I think MS were and still are the richer company. They tried to acquire Sega back in the day (and considered doing so again more recently), they obviously bought exclusivity to Halo which was originally shown as a Mac title. I don’t think as a company MS can claim the moral high ground here. It’s a wilful lack of self awareness.

Of course Sony would try exactly the same if they had the resources, but when the PS2 dominated the industry was in a much healthier place with an abundance of great third parties.

This has been a depressing generation as far as first party decisions are concerned. The fact we are debating business plans rather than which game is better is a sad reflection of the state of things.

Darkseeker39d ago (Edited 39d ago )

There was Nintendo as well, Sony wouldn't have had a monopoly. In fact, the world would be better today if Xbox never existed in the first place. They pretty much brought all bad practices we have today. We might have gotten all of it either way, but not this early. In term of franchises, I don't think there is anything Microsoft released that would actually be missed if it didn't exist. Even Halo the world wouldn't notice if Halo didn't exist.

S2Killinit38d ago

MS was definitely a bad influence on gaming.

raWfodog39d ago

I think almost everyone will agree that a monopoly is not good for the industry. But that being said, the competition needs to be smart and strategic with their business. Simply buying up publishers and traditional third-party studios just to keep them out of the other companies reach is not a sustainable practice. That goes for all parties so don't think I'm just referring to Xbox.

I'm no business guru by any stretch of the imagination but I firmly believe that the best way to drive consumers to your software and hardware is to invest smart in your first-party studios. Give them full support and guidance in making unique, fun games that are only available to play in your ecosystem and the gamers will come.

Reaper22_39d ago (Edited 39d ago )

But first party studios aren't enough. They only make up a small portion of the industry. Without 3rd party there would be no industry for Microsoft or sony.Developing games take time and money and sometimes you gotta make moves to stay competitive.

raWfodog39d ago

Nah, I never said first-party was enough. I said it’s the ‘best way’ to drive gamers to your platform. 3rd-party is a free-for-all and there’s no guarantee that gamers will use your hardware to play the game. If you want to push your own software and/or hardware you need first-party, or at least exclusive deals with third-party studios.

SimpleDad39d ago

They Shure did a great job... 25 years later Xbox is dead.

Reaper22_39d ago

Then why be so emotional and continue to talk about it. Xbox will never die be ause it stays in so many people's head.

lodossrage39d ago

How can you even see him being "emotional" in that comment?

If anything, you're the emotional one, constantly trying to go at anyone that says anything against Microsoft. So when you call him emotional, it comes off as deflection

Elda38d ago

I own an XBSX & I can say it's becoming irrelevant out of the 3 current consoles.
