Look there's a reason there a 3 companies and 3 consoles. It's because they all have different visions. Sony wants to aim for the stars and make the best of the best. Nintendo just aims to make fun games that people have fun playing at a lower cost in price, and also to promote homosexuality through it's fairy games that result in the player feeling like a fantasy pirate on a gay cruise. And microsoft kinda does whatever it takes to win. Literally, even if it means filling the insides of their consoles with hamster hay, and then reasoning that sony's approach is better so they copy all the ps3's features.

Apart from that, like the companies, the fans are different too. Some fans are gonna want to play a range of good games. Some fans will want to play games in 640p...but not me. And some fans will want their games to make them feel like fairy boy, riding a cheese horse into a sunset filled with rainbow, pies

Anyway, give me good games first, then you might have some legs to stand on. I'm not even impressed by Army of Two anymore. Somehow, the game has looked progressively worse and worse over the course of the past year. The one and only game from them I'm looking forward to is something that hasn't even been announced - Fight Night Round 4. That is IT.

I don't think thats ever going to happen, but in some ways, i wonder how games would become if it did.

Its kinda like pc's. They always have to cater for the lowest denominator. Games are getting better looking, But less time is being spent on design and more time being spent, try the get the dam game trying to run on many configurations of pc's.

You would have better looking games, Better fps of said games.

And i believe that designers would also benefit from this.

As much as hardcore gamers hate to admit it EA would kill Sony and M$. Just think all EA games will only be on there console. They would also get 3rd party support. I think that an EA / big name electronics maker could do it. EA has purchased a few good game dev companies in the past 5 years.

Better for devs and consumers if something like this were to happen.

It would kill the stupid fanboy arguments as well but i guess we'd soon find somthing else to argue about - probably which game and dev was better.

Unless you own all formats, you miss out on great software, so i'd be glad for anything like this to happen

I`m sure they would want to be the only game company too, since they seem to be buying up every good game company that`s around, owning even a part in Ubisoft. They seem to be the very idea of monopoly, if you ask me.

Personally i hope they try and makes they own console, and fail just like Sega did, just to bring them down a bit. Unfortunately they would probably do very well if they did such a move, since their crappy games somehow sells very good after all.

I think it great that we have competition, because it keeps the innovation up and the price down (at least a little) for us consumers.

I dont want one console, everybody would just get lazy, just make a sequel for their biggest games, slap a new label on it, charge $75 and there would be no alternatives to subpar games, no thanks EA=

In true EA fashion, following on from the generic cross platform games we love to make cs they cost us nothing and we use as few brain cells as possible in making them, lets have a generic platform as well.

Nah an EA console would be fine for me. Having all that EA sports games on it. I don't play so much sport games, so wouldn't miss out on those.

Football, there would still be PES on the other consoles. Only games I would miss are new IP's like Skate and Army of Two. And ofcourse they just bought Bioware...

I'd only allow this if it was Nintendo and Sega doing it.

If sony was the only console maker-> all be paying $600 and watching blu-ray
If microsoft was the only console maker-> be playing tons of FPS (not that it's bad)
If nintendo was the only console maker -> the hardcorecrowd would just switch over to PC

If EA was the only console maker -> have to pay $69.99 for the console, $1.99 to turn it on, another $ 3.99 to download each character and only sports games will be available.

On the Xbox 360 it's easier to develop games for one reason only less memory on a disc with the DVD 9 compared to Blu-ray off of the PS3.

Anyways. It does look like EA is positioning themselves to enter the Console holder market with what they are saying and doing lately. Them being the biggest developer and publisher with the a partnership with an electronic giant like tosihiba will be unstoppable.

Seriously, taking away the competition will screw us all over in terms of pricing. The games may be just as good, since the developers will be competing for sales, but not having the choice in terms of hardware would be bad.

This is going to happen rather we like it or not, gaming reaches to many platforms. With hardware cost going down I wouldn't be suprised to see company's like Dell, Mac, Toshiba, GE or even Verizon making a game console. Question is, who will control the software and who will conrol the hardware? Sony, MS and Nintendo right now have the largest stake but look at mobile, games there are mostly made across the entire platform and mobile is everywhere.

to get that wish list of to Santa real quick; Christmas is a coming. Seriously this is not going to happen while the console manufacturers look at the potential profits of their respective console. Besides the single platform already exists it is called a PC. I suppose EA could make their own console and do exclusives for that; but I suspect that they do not have the pockets for that. Competition is a good thing and I am happy with a three way race as I think that it means better games for everyone.

It would not be a monopoly, just nintendo, microsoft and sony would become 2nd party developers. it would be just the same as right now, except you have only one console.

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.
