Mass Effect 3 Delay, A Strategic Move?

Geek Revolt writes "Today Bioware delivered some bad news to gamers—Mass Effect 3 is delayed until the first quarter of 2012. While this is disappointing it gives gamers more time to breathe this holiday season. From a business standpoint, this is possibly a great move; here are a couple of reasons why."

I for one welcome the delay as alot of good games are coming out at the end of the year already.

Drazz5500d ago

Plus, I didn't want another rushed game, ala Dragon Age II

thugbob5500d ago (Edited 5500d ago )

Exactly.

Most people want games games to come out as soon as possible until they actually experience what a rushed game plays like...

Killzone 3 was a game I was extremely looking forward to, but not only was that game a downgrade from Killzone 2 and played like CoD...
it was rushed!

I never complain about games being delayed anymore. If a game is being delayed it's for a good reason. I'd rather have a game take forever to come out and be good than have game come out quickly and be bad. Good things happen to those that wait.

UC3, GeOW 3, BF3, Skyrim, Resistance 3, Twisted Metal, and plenty of more. Yeah just delay it lol.

aceitman5500d ago

its nothing new there will be a few more games getting delayed.

SquareEnixFan5500d ago

If their strategy was to piss me off then they are doing a great job.

*cut to late 2011, gamers across the world*

"Man, I sure am mad at bioware right now"

*Dual wields spells and swords*

"They really should get off their asses"

*Climbs icy mountain fending off imps and wolves*

"If only I had something to do in the mean time"

*Fights big ass dragon*

"Amateurs."

SquareEnixFan5500d ago

Funny but this is no laughing matter. Mass Effect 3 was my most anticipated game of the year. Now I have to settle for Skyrim to satisfy my WRPG needs. Woe is me.

BeckyLikesChocolate5500d ago

i figured it would get delayed anyway. if its even a only just as good as me2 its a day one for me

frelyler5500d ago

Love the pic and name, hilarious.

BeckyLikesChocolate5500d ago

frelyler5500d ago

oh, isn't that cute someone is sensitive.

ddurand15500d ago

what happened to having confidence in your games?

so many companies delay games from end of the year to beginning of the following year.

crzyjackbauer5500d ago

they are scared & they need to go to church
the MW3 vs BF3 battle is going take all the money this year

Venom2155500d ago

When logic meets EA it generates anti-matter ..... so try not to apply it in any meaningful way. Entropy is what matters in there !!

badz14976d ago

cue the apologist saying that these are mostly just contractors hired for this specific project bla bla bla

The community warned them this would happen but nope they knew better they continued with the live service push the made the art style cartoonish and this is the result

isarai_lee88d ago

It's always so bizarre when studios announce something super early in development under the suggestion of forming the game to player feedback, and then they push against all feedback heading straight for the cliff while everyone is warning them along the way

US Lawmakers Urge Review Of EA Sale

The Congressional Labor Caucus sent a letter to the FTC warning the debt-financed, largely PIF-owned deal could be bad news for workers

lol ya think? they're sending all that work to the cheaper labor market as soon as possible. and FYI, that labor market has exploded in the last 5-10 years. They have enough people to replace every single job. But honestly, EA is over filled with useless upper management as it is. You could probably trim 25% of their staff with no real loss in production. They aren't gamers, they're business execs. Just look at how many AI related jobs they're already starting to post. Its also hilarious that PIF owns Battle field 6

Wait,

The same congress that attacked Lina Khan when she fought the Microsoft Activision purchase.
The same congress that allowed Disney to buy 90% of Fox
The same congress that allowed Liv Golf to buy the PGA
The same congress that sits back while Paramount tries a hostile takeover despite losing the bid for Warner Bros.

NOW, the suddenly cares about doing what's "right" for works? Yeah, right.

thorstein122d ago

No. There were elections and some of the scum were replaced.

TheColbertinator122d ago

Different elections. Different scum. Same results.

rlow1122d ago

i know its a long shot, but i hope this gets shot down.

EA now owned by The Saudis and Ubisoft to inevitably be owned by China. In hindsight, once EA and Ubisoft started having their financial woes, they should have pulled a Koei Tecmo/Bandai Namco by merging their operations into one.
