John Schappert Quits EA

John Schappert, who a couple of years ago left Microsoft and rejoined Electronic Arts, has resigned from EA.

gaffyh5532d ago (Edited 5532d ago )

This confirms it...Microsoft's E3 megaton = Schapstick is back! Hehe.

edit: Looks like he's going to Zynga, what a weird move.

guigsy5532d ago

I don't think he's a very good PR guy. I remember him doing an interview while working at Microsoft and coming across as really desperate.

TheBeast5532d ago

EA to Zynga...quit the shift in the industry.

EYEamNUMBER15532d ago

i noticed when it comes to these game execs all of em seem to flip flop in between companies EXCEPT the ones at nintendo

lalalala5532d ago

I wonder why he left, may have some personal issues or maybe he got better job somewhere?

SpikeSpiegel5532d ago

It probably because he is going after that casual audience money.

Inside_out5532d ago (Edited 5532d ago )

.
I'm sure him leaving had nothing to do with those EXTREMELY damaging E-mails he sent with other EA execs about Infinity Ward and them trying to steal MW2...E-mails now in the possession of Activisions lawyers. You can run Johnny, but you can't hide.

Alos885532d ago

Ewww, Zynga. A fate worst than Activision.

IronFist5532d ago

Maybe he's betting on them becoming major, like how Steve Jobs bet on Pixar

Alos885532d ago

Oh, they will become major. But they'll never become good, not when there's more money in effortless garbage like Farmville.

gaffyh5532d ago

They might surprise everyone and bring out a AAA game one day, but I highly doubt it.

banjadude5532d ago (Edited 5532d ago )

HA! I thought I've seen this guy before... I remember this guy being at one of the previous E3's for Microsoft.. then the following E3, I was surprised to see him on the Sony stage (talking on behalf of EA Games though).

Pandamobile5532d ago

That's too bad, John Schappert was a pretty cool guy.

Oldman1005532d ago

Eh quits EA and doesn't afraid of anything.

When logic meets EA it generates anti-matter ..... so try not to apply it in any meaningful way. Entropy is what matters in there !!

badz14999d ago

cue the apologist saying that these are mostly just contractors hired for this specific project bla bla bla

The community warned them this would happen but nope they knew better they continued with the live service push the made the art style cartoonish and this is the result

isarai_lee111d ago

It's always so bizarre when studios announce something super early in development under the suggestion of forming the game to player feedback, and then they push against all feedback heading straight for the cliff while everyone is warning them along the way

US Lawmakers Urge Review Of EA Sale

The Congressional Labor Caucus sent a letter to the FTC warning the debt-financed, largely PIF-owned deal could be bad news for workers

lol ya think? they're sending all that work to the cheaper labor market as soon as possible. and FYI, that labor market has exploded in the last 5-10 years. They have enough people to replace every single job. But honestly, EA is over filled with useless upper management as it is. You could probably trim 25% of their staff with no real loss in production. They aren't gamers, they're business execs. Just look at how many AI related jobs they're already starting to post. Its also hilarious that PIF owns Battle field 6

Wait,

The same congress that attacked Lina Khan when she fought the Microsoft Activision purchase.
The same congress that allowed Disney to buy 90% of Fox
The same congress that allowed Liv Golf to buy the PGA
The same congress that sits back while Paramount tries a hostile takeover despite losing the bid for Warner Bros.

NOW, the suddenly cares about doing what's "right" for works? Yeah, right.

thorstein146d ago

No. There were elections and some of the scum were replaced.

TheColbertinator145d ago

Different elections. Different scum. Same results.

rlow1145d ago

i know its a long shot, but i hope this gets shot down.

EA now owned by The Saudis and Ubisoft to inevitably be owned by China. In hindsight, once EA and Ubisoft started having their financial woes, they should have pulled a Koei Tecmo/Bandai Namco by merging their operations into one.
