GameSpot: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim First Look Preview

GameSpot writes: "The Elder Scrolls series has come a long way since its humble beginnings on the PC back in the early '90s. Throughout the years, these games have gathered a loyal following enamored with their massive worlds and open-ended gameplay. At Bethesda Softworks BFG 2011 press event, located deep in the mountains of Utah, we got our first peek at what's to come for this venerable role-playing series. The hands-off demonstration, hosted by Bethesda Softworks' executive producer Todd Howard, took us through a short adventure centered on the theft of a golden dragon's claw. From combat to character customization, Skyrim is bringing a lot of tweaks and changes to the Elder Scrolls formula, so let's get right to it".

Would love to see what kind of PC will run this well.
Correction "run this maxed"

For the love of God i hope mine can, i spent lots of money just for to play games like this one :3

I will play it on PS3 and 360 (as i did with Oblivion) then it will stay on my PC to play all the mods same as i did with Morrowind.

But to tell the truth i believe this game won't need a monster PC Bethesda surely has the engine optimized, i hope :) also Todd said they will use DX11 but not stuff like tesselation , all i have is an i7 920 OC to 3.2 , an HD 5970 (OC edition) and 8 gb ram DDR3 triple channel. I hope i can run it at max what do you think? o.O

BlackKnight5517d ago

That should spank the game dude, I don't think you will have any worries.

Julie5517d ago

i hope BlackKnight , i remember i bought a 7800 GTX x2 for Oblivion with a P4 3.2 hehe , and i got black screens a lot then they released patches and i could finally start playing without crashes.

Ty for to give me hope i am still a bit worried and i love TES badly is an addiction :3

your rig is overkill, why do you need such a powerfull rig?

a waste of money imo, my 4 years old Core 2 duo @3.2ghz/G9600GT@700mhz/4GB DDR2 still runs all games at max settings with 4xAA and 8xAF
most games run @ 60hz, some a bit less

The only games I couldn't max out were crysis, battlefield bc2 and minecraft(not kidding, proves that notch is a pretty overrated programmer)

ofc I won't be able to activate the dx11 settings in the next TES

Julie5517d ago

Well Ocelot there are some games i can't run at max like the old Crysis (full mods) and Metro 33 and its crazy tesselation :3 and besides playing games i also record audio in here and when i have 50 tracks full of vst i can tell my PC struggles lol :p

But my real worry comes with Bethesda games since Morrowind i had an headache getting a good enough PC to play them this is why i am scared of Skyrim :3

For example i have so many mods in Oblivion right now that my average FPS are like 30, of course is crazy i have 70 companions on a castle and i go hunting with 7 lol all with modified armor and weapons and custom races. Of course i play the games 1st with no mods lots of times, then i try every mod out there :)

Nice rig Julie, mine's right below yours, and I still get some stuttering in Oblivion. Crysis 2 runs maxed as well as Farcry 2 and everything else I throw at it. The saving grace may be the new engine though, hopefully it runs like butta.

they can't get a 14 year old game to run smoothly?

jjb1981166d ago

That's ridiculous, lol. I'm waiting for the guy that says its too cpu-intensive for the Switch 2. This game is old af and has been released like 17 times.
