Developers complaining about resale is getting old.

Developers complaining about resale is getting old. They incorrectly say, developers get none of the money from a resold game. When Goodfellajay sells games, I’m usually using the revenue for new games. There’s a trickling up to the developer. In completely digital, I can’t raise that revenue, and the poorer, used-game buyer has no way to afford it. Even the used-game buyer might spend some money in expansions that go to the developer, but not if they can’t afford the game in the first place. So the developers will have to lower their prices when games are digital, like steam does, and they’ll end up with probably the same revenue they currently get (but with a lot less overhead cost).Yummy2289 http://n4g.com/news/submit#... Goodfellajay will debate that.

Am i the only one who feels like going on a rampage to some of these developers offices that want to pass this online pass crap.

Some of these developers must not have brains can't they see the economy were in and not everyone can afford games at full price.

goodfellajay5525d ago

very tur man..i said it in the podcast..this will crash again..like 1983..they did it then..and will do it again

... Lower price means more customers but lower profit per customer... higher price means fewer customer, but higher profit per customer.
In business, the two have to be balanced to net the biggest profit. It's not the developpers who decide this, it's the publisher and the investors behind it.

If these companies are going for the online pass, it means they believe that their product will get bought. I'm fine with it as long as it means free DLC (as in BC2's case... which was mostly disc-locked content, but had 4 new maps at least) and dedicated servers. Something that shows that the money is actually going somewhere that improves the gaming experience instead of some dark money vault.

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle16d ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted

Final Fantasy VIII is great and you are always the first to defend it in the comments

Crazy to think the WII is to the Switch 2, as the NES was to the WII back then. 20 Year difference.

jznrpg22d ago

My wife asks me to bust it out (heh) everyone once in a while to play bowling and tennis with the kids. There was a ton of slop on it but some good stuff as well.

Wii was great but boy howdy did it cause Microsoft to go on a dark walk with the Kinect and the disastrous XBox One launch that they arguably never recovered from.

Not nostalgic for me.. I was there.. anyone who wasnt a little kid realized it was a gamecube with shit tacked onto it, it was the "joke" system and was well below even the switch in terms of comparing it to the latest machines at the time. The machine was well loved by young people and "casual gamers" who now remember it 20 years on, or in most cases more of its sales came in the 15-20 years ago range not right at launch- but again its not nostalgic for people who were "gamers" then really, just for those who ended up with one in their house, the games , graphics, interface and online features were archaic already in 2006.

"Gaming’s Biggest Fighting Franchise"

Press X to (seriously) doubt.

DarXyde23d ago

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

Soy23d ago

And then MK1 killed it again.

DivineHand12523d ago (Edited 23d ago )

15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.
