Shift 2 Unleashed Supported Racing Wheels

Want the ultimate experience from the "fastest racer on the planet"? Then you need to play Shift 2 Unleashed with a racing wheel!

Here's an updated list for all officially supported racing wheels for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC releases of Shift 2 Unleashed.

If you don't see your wheel on the list, it may still work but it's not officially supported by EA or Slightly Mad Studios.

360 gamers are rather starved for choices when it comes to steering wheels - for all racing games.
Do Fanatec still make their 360 wheel or is the cheapish official plastic 360 wheel the only option these days?

I don't have a 360 anymore (my Logitech G25 is serving double duty for my PC and PS3) but I think it's downright criminal of Microsoft not to do something about this situation. I'm having a very hard time believing it's Logitech that doesn't want to make and sell wheels to 360 owners.

A gamepad is certainly fine - and often the best, and only option - for pure arcade racers, but a game like this definitely plays a lot better with a force feedback wheel - and the same obviously applies to perhaps an even larger degree for the Forza series, the flagship racing series on the 360.

Fanatec is the only real option unless you find the old MS plastic wheel online somewhere. MS stopped production on it long ago. That is why Turn 10 doesn't bother with anything beyond 270 degrees of rotation support.

I have the Fanatec 911 S (2 actually), GT2 and the Thrustmaster T500. I am hoping the T500 works with the PS3 version (I'm getting both. Love racing games, can yah tell?) but either way I'm good to go on both consoles.

They don't even sell the MS wheel anymore? Damn.
As a racing game fan for almost twenty years - and a sim racing fan for the last ten of those (going through three different Logitech wheels) - I just can't wrap my head around a situation like this.

It's great if Fanatec still makes their 360 supported wheel, but I imagine it's not exactly in the lower price range? Meaning relatively few are probably tempted to make it their first wheel.

Personally I simply can't imagine playing racing games that aren't purebred arcade racers without a steering wheel.
Even with games like DiRT 2 and Shift 1 that I've seen many (in my opinion incorrectly) classify as pure arcade racers, there's a night and day difference between playing them with gamepad and wheel and pedals.

Even having a racing series like Forza on a platform that's this ridiculously starved for wheel options seems perplexing to me (well, obviously it sells well :)).
Talking about accurate driving physics and simulation seems a tad redundant when it's played with a gamepad by what I can only imagine must be at least 95% of the players.

The Fanatec GT2 is the only good wheel that supports the 360 now. They stopped production on the 911 S. The clubsport package, aluminum pedals edition, cost $500. For me it was more than worth it. The only problem is Fanatec is back ordered to May. So 360 fans are SOL till June.

I always thought this was one of MS's biggest mistakes myself. No decent mass market wheel support from campanies like Logitech or Thrustmaster. Hell nearly every wheel works with the PS3.

Line-up of compatible steering wheel support is way better than that for upcoming Forza4.. is MS/XBox the problem or is it Turn10 with their non-support for Logitech?

Boody-Bandit5498d ago

It's Microsoft.
They want more $$$ for license fees than most 3rd party companies are willingto pay to make products for their console. Just ask Fanatec what a pain in the ass it was going through that process of their certification.

Does MS have clue one how much better games like Forza would do if most wheels were compatible with that series? Morons like me spent thousands just to be able to play the game with a good wheel and rig.

When logic meets EA it generates anti-matter ..... so try not to apply it in any meaningful way. Entropy is what matters in there !!

The community warned them this would happen but nope they knew better they continued with the live service push the made the art style cartoonish and this is the result

It's always so bizarre when studios announce something super early in development under the suggestion of forming the game to player feedback, and then they push against all feedback heading straight for the cliff while everyone is warning them along the way

US Lawmakers Urge Review Of EA Sale

The Congressional Labor Caucus sent a letter to the FTC warning the debt-financed, largely PIF-owned deal could be bad news for workers

lol ya think? they're sending all that work to the cheaper labor market as soon as possible. and FYI, that labor market has exploded in the last 5-10 years. They have enough people to replace every single job. But honestly, EA is over filled with useless upper management as it is. You could probably trim 25% of their staff with no real loss in production. They aren't gamers, they're business execs. Just look at how many AI related jobs they're already starting to post. Its also hilarious that PIF owns Battle field 6

Wait,

The same congress that attacked Lina Khan when she fought the Microsoft Activision purchase.
The same congress that allowed Disney to buy 90% of Fox
The same congress that allowed Liv Golf to buy the PGA
The same congress that sits back while Paramount tries a hostile takeover despite losing the bid for Warner Bros.

NOW, the suddenly cares about doing what's "right" for works? Yeah, right.

EA now owned by The Saudis and Ubisoft to inevitably be owned by China. In hindsight, once EA and Ubisoft started having their financial woes, they should have pulled a Koei Tecmo/Bandai Namco by merging their operations into one.
