Always wanted to try flashpoint never did though, might buy it cheap sumday

BattleAxe5548d ago

Don't bother, I bought it on Steam for $4.50 during a sale, and after about 20 minutes of playing the game I uninstalled it from my PC. I understand now why so many people didn't like the game.

ShadyDevil5548d ago

This game looks so sweet. I hope it turns out good.

dkgshiz5548d ago

Codemasters is a strange company. They throw money at something that never seems to do well.

lpfisher5548d ago

I would agree to a certain extent. I think the Operation Flashpoint series has done extremely well within a certain market. The people who love the super realistic tactical gameplay will pick this up day one. And really, when it comes to tactical gameplay, it's one of the best.

As far as the big picture is concerned though, it does seem like they're just throwing money into an IP that's going nowhere.

Elwenil5548d ago

The original Operation Flashpoint on PC did well but Dragon Rising simply pissed off a good 80% of the people who bought it. The lies Codemaster told have made me boycott anything from them in the future. Dragon Rising had so much potential but they squandered it away and probably destroyed any chance of a true tactical military sim like the original Flashpoint and ARMA on consoles.

dkgshiz5548d ago

I guess that makes sense. Similar to Yakuza. Its doesn't do much of dent in the U.S. market but you have your fair share of dedicated fans.

lpfisher5548d ago

@dkgshiz
Well, what @elwenil said is true too. There will definitely be a core group that picks it up, but that group is getting smaller.

BattleAxe5548d ago

Codemasters should stick to genres that they do well with like racing games. Grid and Dirt2 were awesome.

Same Chief

Off Topic: John man I can't wait for your game!

guitarded774328d ago

Some mediocre - crap games there. Couldn't even include any Codemasters racing games? It's the only thing they're good at.

Canadiangamernet4328d ago

Including the Dirt series in the bundle would have been awesome but i wouldn't say they are crappy games. I liked Overlord 1 & 2 and both Operation Flashpoint are decent FPS the other one are so so for me.

guitarded774328d ago

Like I said... crappy to mediocre. I liked Overlord too. Didn't care for Operation Flashpoint. But eve liking Overlord, I have no illusions that it isn't a mediocre game.

AntsPai4328d ago

Even though it's still technically a good deal, the whole $5 or £4 thing annoys me. Humble bundle doesn't do this. No thanks.

Operation Flashpoint: Red River - The Shooter That Could Have Been The Greatest

Mobile & Apps: "One of the most underrated shooters of the previous generation was Operating Flashpoint: Red River for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. With all its problems, I believe this is a game that is worth playing, however, it is not too hard to see why the game didn't quite kick off, as it should have."

I liked it, didn't quite finish it though. Maybe I will now.

Codj4886d ago

Loved this game, it was dumbed down from Dragon Rising but still an enjoyable game. Was still offputting to people looking for instant/non stop action

Theangrybogan4886d ago

Ha! Some colleagues and I are actually planning on hitting this one up tonight. Great game.
