Dead Space 3 will keep the “horror” in survival-horror

The transition between Dead Space 1 and Dead Space 2 may not be as drastic as the one seen between the classic Resident Evil games and the masterpiece known as Resident Evil 4, but it still provided a boost in adrenaline with a much larger action focus. The game was still scary and thus has ended up becoming one of the shining examples of the genre in our current generation. But with such a boost in the action department from the first game to Dead Space 2, is Visceral going to completely abolish their survival-horror roots with the eventual release of Dead Space 3? No, not at all.

I thought Dead Space 2 had a perfect balance of action and survival horror, and it's one of my favorite franchises this generation with games, movies, comics, and books, and all of them being great and adding something new to the universe. Can't wait for Dead Space 3.

I didn't really feel that survival instinct kick in like I did in the DS1. I would really like it if Visceral went back to what made the first so dreadful.

I enjoyed being felt like I was the only person up in the Ishimura even though I had two individuals along for the ride. But I suppose you really can't progress a story without it's characters and one just isn't going to do it. ;P

Whatever DS3 brings to the table I'm sure it'll be something great!

I don't know about you but I shit a brick in dead space 2 when the air came out of freaking sealing

i thought dead space 2 was still quite scary even though it was more of intense scary than atmospheric scary. chapter 1* was scarier than in the first game though.

Whilst DS2 wasn't AS scary as DS1, it still scared the crap out of me and its a true example of how well horror and action can be combined, unlike a certain other franchise which ballsed it up (despite being good)...

was i the only one not scared through DS2?

i thought DS1 did a way better job in setting up the scares and executing them.

When logic meets EA it generates anti-matter ..... so try not to apply it in any meaningful way. Entropy is what matters in there !!

cue the apologist saying that these are mostly just contractors hired for this specific project bla bla bla

The community warned them this would happen but nope they knew better they continued with the live service push the made the art style cartoonish and this is the result

It's always so bizarre when studios announce something super early in development under the suggestion of forming the game to player feedback, and then they push against all feedback heading straight for the cliff while everyone is warning them along the way

US Lawmakers Urge Review Of EA Sale

The Congressional Labor Caucus sent a letter to the FTC warning the debt-financed, largely PIF-owned deal could be bad news for workers

lol ya think? they're sending all that work to the cheaper labor market as soon as possible. and FYI, that labor market has exploded in the last 5-10 years. They have enough people to replace every single job. But honestly, EA is over filled with useless upper management as it is. You could probably trim 25% of their staff with no real loss in production. They aren't gamers, they're business execs. Just look at how many AI related jobs they're already starting to post. Its also hilarious that PIF owns Battle field 6

Wait,

The same congress that attacked Lina Khan when she fought the Microsoft Activision purchase.
The same congress that allowed Disney to buy 90% of Fox
The same congress that allowed Liv Golf to buy the PGA
The same congress that sits back while Paramount tries a hostile takeover despite losing the bid for Warner Bros.

NOW, the suddenly cares about doing what's "right" for works? Yeah, right.

No. There were elections and some of the scum were replaced.

EA now owned by The Saudis and Ubisoft to inevitably be owned by China. In hindsight, once EA and Ubisoft started having their financial woes, they should have pulled a Koei Tecmo/Bandai Namco by merging their operations into one.
