EA- Shift 2: Unleashed “changes the racing simulation genre forever”

GamingBolt: "We recently got a chance to sit down with Marcus Nilsson of Slightly Mad Studios, executive producer of Shift 2: Unleashed and we talked about how the project was coming along till now. Being a racing sim game, it’s obvious that comparisons with games like Forza Motorsport and Gran Turismo would be drawn. We drew the very same comparisons, and Nilsson told us he believes Need for Speed: Shift 2 Unleashed will “change the racing simulation genre forever.”"

I really enjoyed the first Shift game and thought it was a great reboot of the franchise. This one is looking stellar!

I am not sure how it will compare the likes of Gran Turismo 5 and Forza 3. Will be pretty interesting how it will churn out.

Shubhankar5536d ago

Gran Turismo 5 was pretty disappointing, but yes it will be hard to exceed a game as good as GT5. Overtaking Forza 3 will be the real deal, though.

IRetrouk5536d ago

sadly not in the same league as the big boys, first one still felt very arcady, especialy compared to gt 5, the pinicle, in my opinion, of console sims.

joydestroy5536d ago

it's an arcade game trying really hard to be a sim, and sorta succeeding. it's no GT/Forza, but it's certainly making itself known. i enjoyed the first one and will likely enjoy this one.

IRetrouk5536d ago (Edited 5536d ago )

definatly agree, the first one was very enjoyable, i am looking forward to this one, it looks to have improved over the first so will be a day 1 for me.

my coment above wasnt a negative, i just dont see the game as much of a sim, the game itself keep me entertained.

I am really excited for Shift 2, seems like a return to roots for the NFS series.

Shubhankar5536d ago

I actually like NFS the way it is right now. Hot Pursuit 2 was awesome, I was hoping the next NFS game EA announced would be another Criterion game. But Shift 2 seems superb as well... can't wait!

IRetrouk5536d ago

im ok with them making shift 2, the first game was very good, i dont think a single car game other than dirt 2 nailed the in car view as well as shifts team did, i would also like criterion to make a new burnout, i love me some burnout :-)

Trevonn5536d ago

need for speed underground was nothing like shift

Valay5536d ago

I'm not surprised they said this.

Bounkass5536d ago

No it won't. Simulation = simulation. If it's different, it won't be a simulator.

ShinFuYux5536d ago

Look, the only way you can change the simulation genre is by making close it to reality. Which that wont ever happen.

Maybe in 15 years from now, GT10 and Forza1080 will be close but now. Nah.

nycrekid5536d ago

Someone hasn't played either games.

ShinFuYux5536d ago

I have all three games. Hit me up on PSN: Kuroi_Kawa, or Live: ShinFuYux

I talk it because I played it.

When logic meets EA it generates anti-matter ..... so try not to apply it in any meaningful way. Entropy is what matters in there !!

cue the apologist saying that these are mostly just contractors hired for this specific project bla bla bla

The community warned them this would happen but nope they knew better they continued with the live service push the made the art style cartoonish and this is the result

isarai_lee48d ago

It's always so bizarre when studios announce something super early in development under the suggestion of forming the game to player feedback, and then they push against all feedback heading straight for the cliff while everyone is warning them along the way

US Lawmakers Urge Review Of EA Sale

The Congressional Labor Caucus sent a letter to the FTC warning the debt-financed, largely PIF-owned deal could be bad news for workers

lol ya think? they're sending all that work to the cheaper labor market as soon as possible. and FYI, that labor market has exploded in the last 5-10 years. They have enough people to replace every single job. But honestly, EA is over filled with useless upper management as it is. You could probably trim 25% of their staff with no real loss in production. They aren't gamers, they're business execs. Just look at how many AI related jobs they're already starting to post. Its also hilarious that PIF owns Battle field 6

Wait,

The same congress that attacked Lina Khan when she fought the Microsoft Activision purchase.
The same congress that allowed Disney to buy 90% of Fox
The same congress that allowed Liv Golf to buy the PGA
The same congress that sits back while Paramount tries a hostile takeover despite losing the bid for Warner Bros.

NOW, the suddenly cares about doing what's "right" for works? Yeah, right.

No. There were elections and some of the scum were replaced.

Different elections. Different scum. Same results.

i know its a long shot, but i hope this gets shot down.

EA now owned by The Saudis and Ubisoft to inevitably be owned by China. In hindsight, once EA and Ubisoft started having their financial woes, they should have pulled a Koei Tecmo/Bandai Namco by merging their operations into one.
