I think CoD will implode on itself. No need to kill it. I just want BF3 to be awesome. I don't care how it compares and contrasts other "top" FPSers.

BF already has killed CoD. Much better imo.

Activision must be doing really dam good as a company financially. They have 2 franchises that are always put up against another. WoW and CoD are always brought up when mentioning a FPS or MMO. Idk how they do it. Even though Blizzard made WoW, Activision still saw the promise of WoW and obviously bought them and are reaping the rewards.

I don't think* anything can, unfortunately. My roomates, and I dog on the game constantly, but then they will go and play it. I guess thats how all those fans are: not COD=sucks, or they dont want to figure out the mechanics and just go back to spawn killing on nuketown. I hate everything about the franchise now, except for the fact that it runs at 60 fps on consoles, everything else (noob shooting mechanics, broken 1 hit melee, host advantage, maps) sucks hard.

P.S. BF3 is going to rule, meanwhile COD kids are still gonna purchase, play, and defend COD RELIGIOUSLY...

It doesnt need to "kill" COD, they are doing that themselves rehashing the same experience every year.

It just needs to be as good as BF2 or better.

Killing off COD wont be easy... The Battlefield BC games have been the only game to really give COD a run given they are multiplatform. Its hard to say at this point if BF3 can do it becuase too much is unknown...and lets mbe honest, DICE's performance on MOH left many feeling a bit cold.

I think its really going to come down to if BF3 can craft a truly compelling single player game to go along with the multiplayer portion. One of the biggest hooks COD has had is that its single player game is really good to go along with a highly addictive multiplayer. In the past single player has not been a strong point of the BF series (or lack there of) and I think ultimately why its going to struggle against the likes of COD.

The title should be "Battlefield 3: Can it cure the retarded mass that is the COD players?"

Once MAG came out, my COD A days were over, then came BFBC2 now I no longer have a stomach for COD. I'm sure COD will still sell billions much like Mc donalds, but that by no means it's a superior product.

The two are different Battlefield is more a "tactic" based game where teamwork is very helpful to COD is more of a game of run and gun and flashy moves. I've found while playing COD4,World at War,MW2 and Blacks ops that is that most people are just trying to get killstreaks not focus on the objectives or team support. And I view COD games as like a Schwarzenegger movie now with big explosions and over-the-top action not a real war scenario game. Simply put COD you don't need a headset to play because no one talks about the game other than crying about how they died or calling someone a "fag" so its really just a casual game with quick rewards.

It will be a significantly better game, but it won't beat CoD in terms of sale and popularity...

This generation has definitely proven that the majority of gamers prefer arcade shooters, and Battlefield definitely is not an arcade shooter.

Maybe this will manage to convert some of the CoD fanboys. I hope so. It'd be nice to see Activision fall, but unfortunately MW3 will sell like hot cakes later this year.

This is no surprise really at all in anyway but I do find it hilarious they feel the need to put all the blame of cheating on PC gamers especially since it was Microsoft that was behind the begging for cross-platform play after all they did get exactly what they wanted. Microsoft ask for them PC Cheaters and they got the PC Cheaters but back to the hilarious part why is it that Microsoft, Activision, Xbox and PlayStation gamers can detets them talented PC Cheaters but accept the Console cheaters using modded controllers that can access many if not all the PC cheats?
No matter what Microsoft does, no matter the steps they take, no matter the BS claims that Microsoft makes of getting rid of the cheaters. The cheaters will always be 1 to 15 steps ahead of Microsoft and they'll always rule the Call of Duty games. There's only 1 way a gamer console or PC can avoid the cheating in Call of Duty.......move on and stop playing it!
or, OR!!!! do what them PC Cheaters and the Console modded controller cheaters did when the finally realized Microsoft and Activision can 1- do a damn thing about it or 2- Microsoft nor Activision gives a $hit about the in-game cheating they only care about the $$money$$ the franchise brings in.......So you got to do what these great PC and Console cheating gamers did\do..........CHEAT!

And the author sounds like he is surprised. Cheating has always been a big thing with COD and any online shooter. Why do you think Microsoft did the whole ban the box during the 360 days because of online cheating.

I don't get why people cheat on an online game, in single player ones I get, you want to progress in the game but somehow you can't, but on online games what's the point? I do not play online multiplayer games so maybe I'm not getting something.
