PS3 and 360 Now on Par For EA

EA have been strong proponents of the PS3 of late, with the publisher choosing to showcase new titles at last year’s E3 on Sony’s platform rather than its closest rival’s. With their latest figures suggesting the two platforms are now on par sales-wise, expect that relationship to continue.

I am starting to love EA, ever since 2008 when they released Dead Space and Mirrors Edge.

Btw, I loved Medal of Honor too, it is better than Black Ops, the weapons, sound of the bullets/explosions, graphics were awesome!

hellzsupernova5599d ago

I think the reviewers were too harsh on Medal Of Honor it was really good experience.

blumatt5599d ago

The single player was very well done. I bought it on PS3 and got the free Medal of Honor Frontline in HD and when I played the single player, it felt so damn authentic.

lelo2play5599d ago (Edited 5599d ago )

Since EA is bringing exclusive content to PS3 games, it's no wounder that PS3 software was up and X360 software was down...

X360 players are probably giving EA the middle finger.

roflcopters5599d ago

"X360 players are probably giving EA the middle finger."

no sorry, we don't cry and moan about petty thing like this, that's reserved for ps3fanboys.

thats_just_prime5599d ago

No I'm giving them the middle finger cause their games suck. They release the same thing every year and each year the game actually get worse

Foliage5599d ago

@ roflcopters

Yeah right, see the biggest whine fest in the history of video games, the MGS4 for 360 fiasco...

360 babies are the worst.

Boody-Bandit5598d ago (Edited 5598d ago )

@roflcopters
You do realize you just outed and owned yourself, right?

hmmmm5598d ago

@brutallyhonest

Outed himself as what? An x360 player? Oh no!

MRMagoo1235598d ago (Edited 5598d ago )

hmmm arent the first 2 comments from lelo2play and roflcopters in argument to each other even tho there both on the same losing team also known as team 360?

@hmmmmm , i wouldnt be caught dead being outed as a 360 player its equal to admitting having a learning problem.

DFresh5598d ago

Personally I only think the reason why Dead Space: Extraction HD Remake came to PS3 over the Xbox 360 is because the Wii and Playstation Move are similar making it easier to port.
(Kinect probably wouldn't have worked for Dead Space: Extraction and would of took a long time coding to make it work.)

Mass Effect 2 DLC on one disc thing for Blu-ray was because Bioware was throwing PS3 users like myself a bone for not being able to play the first Mass Effect since it was only on PC/Xbox 360 and the extra space on the Blu-ray disc is useful.
Why not use the extra space on the Blu-ray disc?!

Medal of Honor: Frontlines with Medal of Honor on PS3.
(That was probably a deal too.)

Besides that both platforms are getting equal treatment I think.

At E3 the only games EA didn't display on the PS3 was Bulletstorm and Crysis 2 and those games were showcased on Xbox 360.

In the way all of this treatment is probably making up over the years that EA made crappy ports for their games on PS3 until they took the time to understand the PS3 tech/hardware.

radphil5598d ago

"Outed himself as what? An x360 player? Oh no!"

No. Just as a goofball.

And yet their losses are widening because of it, interesting.

I wonder if EA thinks they backed the right console.

Chris3995599d ago

EA wouldn't be such a strong proponent of the PS3 is it wasn't brining in money, which as you can see IT IS.

Please point me to the place in the article where it states that PS3 development has somehow caused the totality of EA's losses for the fiscal year. Where is that statement? Oh, that's right, it doesn't exist. Their losses could have been because of a poor economy, international exchange fees, licencing or legal issues, acquisitions, or whatever.

You have no idea, so stop pretending that you do.

ChilliDemon5599d ago

In fact, he has 'ziro' idea.

trounbyfire5599d ago

their money is down because madden doesn't sell like COD and MOh doesn't either but both games sold really well

people crap on MOh sales but it did fine

r1sh125599d ago

yep..
they dont have a massive franchise apart from Fifa and maybe the odd sports game.
But this years Fifa is worse than last years.
MOH was a big fail, why did they use the DICE engine?
As soon as they announced that DICE were doing multiplayer I knew I wouldnt buy MOH. As good as battlefield is, it has worse spawn traps compared to COD BO.
2011 will be another hard year, since there are soo many amazing games coming out from other publishers/developers (across all platforms).
They will probably support MOH for a sequel but if they use DICE again its gonna be just as fail as the predecessor.

EA sales on the 360 are dropping and EA sales on the PS3 are rising. This, coupled with the fact that the PS3 is a few million behind the 360 install-base wise. So your statement is somewhat agreeable, the perception - however, tends to be different from my side.

-End of Line

Ravage275599d ago

aaaaand yet another 'insightful' comment from a 360 fanboy....intelligence seem to be in short supply on the green side.

jimbone795599d ago

Really, because I think it’s pretty low on both sides. Just the fact that one is a fanboy shows lack of some kind of brain activity in the first place, as far as I'm concerned.

Wizziokid5599d ago

maybe now they can focus on push devs to make better multi-plat titles on the PS3

Ju5599d ago

Dead Space 2 anybody??

Wizziokid5599d ago

yeah what about the rest?

Ju5599d ago (Edited 5599d ago )

FIFA? Crysis? MoH? Tiger Woods? What about it?

If anybody it's EA which does not make any compromises with the PS3 version. They were lacking, but right now they are the biggest publisher which built quite some know-how how to develop on the PS3.

The Meerkat5599d ago

I thought EA said that they made more money on PS3 games a while ago.

ChristianGamer5599d ago

The final quarter of 2010 was
something of a landmark for EA, at
least in terms of revenue. It marked
the first time ever that the PS3 made
EA as much money as the Xbox 360.
Both consoles contributed 27% of
the publishers overall revenue,
representing a dramatic year-on-
year increase for the PS3.
The PS3 was one of the few
platforms to experience any growth
over the period. Net revenue for the
console rose by 19% compared to
the same period in 2009, reaching $
282 million. By contrast, Xbox 360
revenues fell by almost the same
percentage to $285 million, putting
the two consoles on a roughly even
footing. Unfortunately for EA,
revenues for the Wii, DS, PSP and PS2
also fell, which when totalled up,
resulted in a loss for the quarter of
more than $300 million.
Clearly they lied. PS3 has in fact NEVER made EA more money than X360. Cannot argue with the facts.
So EA have been running their gums all this time about ps3 and it is yet to make them more money. Mass Effect 2 won't help much at 88k units first week.

Karooo5599d ago

nice spin pathetic

ps3 has less install base still sells equal

FailOverHero5599d ago

Correction, they don't sell equally, they SOLD estually for the 1st time during ONE holiday quarter. So for the first time since 2006 PS3 made EA ALMOST as much money as the 360. This mind you comes after the PS3 is UP 19% for EA and 360 is DOWN 18% and yet 360 made more money for them.
Bigger picture is that when you put all the quarters of the year together, 360 still makes MORE money for EA than PS3 EVER has. Point blank period. No spin. No excuses.

radphil5598d ago

@FailOverHero

You got something brown on your nose there.

Shazz5599d ago

fifa 11 has sold abt 2 million more on the ps3 than 360 so i can see why its risen for ps3

It's always so bizarre when studios announce something super early in development under the suggestion of forming the game to player feedback, and then they push against all feedback heading straight for the cliff while everyone is warning them along the way

US Lawmakers Urge Review Of EA Sale

The Congressional Labor Caucus sent a letter to the FTC warning the debt-financed, largely PIF-owned deal could be bad news for workers

Trilithon129d ago

lol ya think? they're sending all that work to the cheaper labor market as soon as possible. and FYI, that labor market has exploded in the last 5-10 years. They have enough people to replace every single job. But honestly, EA is over filled with useless upper management as it is. You could probably trim 25% of their staff with no real loss in production. They aren't gamers, they're business execs. Just look at how many AI related jobs they're already starting to post. Its also hilarious that PIF owns Battle field 6

Wait,

The same congress that attacked Lina Khan when she fought the Microsoft Activision purchase.
The same congress that allowed Disney to buy 90% of Fox
The same congress that allowed Liv Golf to buy the PGA
The same congress that sits back while Paramount tries a hostile takeover despite losing the bid for Warner Bros.

NOW, the suddenly cares about doing what's "right" for works? Yeah, right.

EA now owned by The Saudis and Ubisoft to inevitably be owned by China. In hindsight, once EA and Ubisoft started having their financial woes, they should have pulled a Koei Tecmo/Bandai Namco by merging their operations into one.
