This game will be gorgeous and amazing and like all other Elder Scrolls game, will probably completely pawn every other RPG released the same year. Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3 can kiss RPG Goty goodbye.

@sltPoison
Wow

@disagrees
Come on guys lets be serious. The elder scrolls games have practically defined the western RPG. You think these tender young two and three year old franchises will be able to hold a candle to one of the greatest gaming franchises in history? Please.

MerkinMax5614d ago (Edited 5614d ago )

Because they share a striking resemblance.

Coldshadowz5614d ago

Holy shit! That is too funny sir.

Blacktric5614d ago (Edited 5614d ago )

It looks much much better and terrifying than the ones found in Oblivion. They were dangerous, especially in packs, I'll give them that but they were just funny looking.

Edit: @booni3

"Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3 can kiss RPG Goty goodbye."

We'll see who's gonna win the most GOTY awards in 2011. Not everyone likes and sees Elder Scrolls games as a true GOTY contender. In 2006, sure, Oblivion was impressive but it's not going to win GOTY awards and best RPG of the year awards THAT easy this time around. Especially against two key franchises from Bioware, the masters of storytelling.

RedDead5614d ago (Edited 5614d ago )

I agree with him though, it'll either be ES 5 or the Witcher 2, there's a few more on pc but those two are my expected top RPG.

Also Blacktric, I would like to tell you as good as Oblivion was, it is the worst elder scroll game imo. That ses a lot I think.

Gan Xodos5614d ago

I think mass effect 3 will be cool but I have to agree that skyrim will surely take rpg-of-the-year with leaps and bounds

Darkfiber5613d ago (Edited 5613d ago )

I don't think Dragon Age 2 has a chance, but Mass Effect 3 might. It's pretty light on the RPG stuff but still considered an RPG to most console kids, but regardless it's still an amazing franchise. It wont come anywhere close to the depth offered in Skyrim that's for sure. It's depth and ingenuity that should win game of the year, not flashy gimmicks to cover up shallow, linear 8 hour games with no innovation or substance (I'm looking at you Uncharted 3). If this has anything close to the amount of depth and detail and features it sounds like it's going to have, this kind of game should be in a league of its own. I enjoyed past Elder Scrolls game, but this seems to be beyond anything they have ever made. Even if they keep everything the same as in past games and only update the graphics and conversations/interactions with other people, this game is going to be better than anything else out there. Honestly, the only downfall Oblivion had was the graphics, animations and conversation/interaction stuff with NPCs. Other than that, the game was virtually unstoppable.

Add in a new engine that looks incredible and hopefully is light on the bugs, updated conversation stuff and all the new quest and NPC AI stuff they've been talking about, this has the potential to be one of the best games ever. This is the kind of game I've been looking forward to since I started gaming when I was a little kid. Things have come close but this looks to finally match visions of my "perfect game". Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself though...hopefully they'll show some gameplay soon.

edhe5613d ago

who cares about goty? in 2011 i'll be playing fable3, fallout nv, mass effect 3, dragon age 2 & elder scrolls 5.

Dude i'm ecstatic and couldn't give two shits about their rankings with eachother.

Videos like this make me extremely envious of people with such talent. Ridiculously nice work and awesome to see him able to redo whole limbs so quickly and match them up.

Edit: This is one item I wish would have taken off much faster by now, touch screen monitors for artwork purposes. I know there are a few models out there, but surprised they've been so slow to advance to a point where they would be publicly available.

Shani5613d ago

I feel the same.
While watching video my mouth was left open just like the troll's in the video, by looking at that amazing creative skills.

Marked5614d ago

I would have liked to see that take place in real time. Like cgoodno said "Videos like this make me extremely envious of people with such talent."

I cant wait to see the final product, this will be Bethesdas redemption for there glithey work as of recent.

xX-StolenSoul-Xx5614d ago

I sure do hope they add some sort of multiplayer. Maybe have 1 friend in your world helping do quests. Im not asking for much.

Gan Xodos5614d ago

NO multiplayer isn't going to happen. they've already confirmed it. and yes it IS asking a lot. the Elder scrolls has always been about you and the world around you. trying to be as realistic as possible. turnign it multiplayer would damage the feel of the game. I for one would refuse to play an elder scrolls multiplayer game unless it where some separate arena-type game. but a co-op rpg or mmorpg? no thanks. the world has those and I stay away from em. I'd like to not turn into a zombie.

xX-StolenSoul-Xx5614d ago

"trying to be as realistic as possible"

Since when was fighting dragons, goblins, and dwarfs realistic?

Darkfiber5613d ago

Good, I don't want co-op. It seems like it would cheapen the experience. These games have always been about "the lone wanderer and his surroundings". I don't want the atmosphere ruined by some dude yelling "LULZ DID U SEE THAT I JUST PWNED THAT TROLL, OMG". Bah.

Gan Xodos5613d ago (Edited 5613d ago )

It's realistic when they pull it off so that you don't feel like you're playing some stupid fantasy rpg, and it makes you live the story without noticing defects. Imagine a dragon or a goblin (and remember the last dwarf alive was ever seen in morrowind http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Mo... ) or a troll or whatever and place it in the real world. this is what bethesda tries to do here, make things as believable as possible.

P.S. I agree with you Darkfiber, having someone ruining the atmosphere with his blabbering would be a big game-braker just there, not to mention all the other side-effects of multiple players...
Let's just say it would ruin the franchise as we know it...

xX-StolenSoul-Xx5613d ago

Fine... Just hope it really funner than elderscrolls iv. i felt let down by that one, and the dlc was not very good. On top of that Ps3 version had no trophys so i really had no reason to keep on playing.

Zinc5614d ago

Just keep making the games more open and like a living breathing world with NPC's that seem more like real people. That's all I want, because that is everything that makes single player great.

Amazing interaction, choices, story, content, dialog, adventure, cool things to play with (magic, tomes, equipment), satisfying combat and magic systems, the ability to make a mark on the world or just plain do whatever.

Multiplayer can muddy those waters. It can actually take away more than it gives to the player.

Each to their own, but there are plenty of products out there that fit what you want, not near as many that fit into what I and others like me want.

xX-StolenSoul-Xx5613d ago

Co-Op Actually works in one of my Fav Rpg.

Demon Souls, sure you can't talk to the people with mics but it still works nicely.

Zinc5613d ago (Edited 5613d ago )

@StolenSoul - I've heard really great things about Demon Souls. Haven't played it though. Like I said, I think they already have games out there that fit this concept better. I think they should stick to the heart of their success and grow from there.

they can't get a 14 year old game to run smoothly?

jjb1981173d ago

That's ridiculous, lol. I'm waiting for the guy that says its too cpu-intensive for the Switch 2. This game is old af and has been released like 17 times.
