Skyrim Cover Decoded

After toiling away with the translation key and the symbols for a single word, I've managed to totally decode the verses from the back cover of February's Game Informer, featuring Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The language is one that's been developed entirely by Bethesda for use in the Elder Scrolls franchise, appearing for the first time in Skyrim.

Warning: The full version of this post contains the translated verses from the back cover. If you want to translate them yourself, you should check out Game Informer's Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Hub.

The translation is a pretty cool poem.
I wonder how it fits into the ES5 universe.

I've never been much of a FPS RPG gamer, but it's always intriguing to see such detailed lores from games.

I think it's pretty cool that they developed another language and then went on to make something that sounds good, and still rhymes when translated.

Right, stuff like that really adds to the lore/universe that is created in such franchises.

And if they give you the language to decode it, makes it even more interesting!

I don't remember what game it was, but I remember you had to get language codecs or w/e and you'd learn the language slowly (I'm thinking FFX?).
You'd be able to understand more of the language if you got all the codecs (or w/e).
I really liked that, I think I went around collecting all of it so I can properly understand the other language :D

@k2d

Yes, that is the language.
Thanks for reminding me.
+bubs 2 both of ya.

That's awesome, and also sounds familiar. I think you may be right with that being FFX, but I can't remember, either.

Yeah, that sounds right. It was spoken by some other race of people, or something, wasn't it?

Agreed, Lore in fantasy games, if done right are always an interesting read.

Wow I actually thought it's the lyric for the teaser choir.

Nice translation. Can't wait for Skyrim to come out!

Alduin = Akatosh.

Akatosh now noms worlds, so he's a bad guy.

NuLL25605d ago

Alduin is the Nordic version of Akatosh. However the Nords regarded him as a destroyer while in the Nine Deities, he was regarded as their leader. It should be interesting to see how he is portrayed in this game.

This is some serious Dragon-Apocalypse ****.

I LOVE IT

they can't get a 14 year old game to run smoothly?

jjb1981152d ago

That's ridiculous, lol. I'm waiting for the guy that says its too cpu-intensive for the Switch 2. This game is old af and has been released like 17 times.
