Who in the world is gonna tune their standard car?

LMAO.

alphakennybody5665d ago

"some standard car are not port from gt4"

saint_john_paul_ii5665d ago

most likely, those cars will get the premium patch in the future, as DLC or a free update hopefully

ALFAxD_CENTAURO5665d ago (Edited 5665d ago )

Probably there are coming Bundles of Premium Cars as DLC.

But, I'm glad GT5 have variety of different type of cars, besides, offers the most detailed Cars in a Racing game.

TehExcusesBegin5665d ago

Wait, do you know that quantity does not equal variety? Having more than 10 percent of cars be nissans is not variety.
40 Skylines is not variety
20 S2000 is not variety.
30 Lancers is not variety.
Having 1 car repeat 40 times is not variety, it is just inflation. I bet you most of those 40 cars can be achieved by tuning 2 or 3 base models
Quantity doesn't always equate variety and this game is prime example.
Also it is awesome to have THREE PREMIUM Suzuki CAPPUCINO's and yet have the only Bugatti be a STANDARD. Let's not even try and explain why you need 3 cappucino's in a racing game, let alone have them all be premiums

SMW5665d ago

If you understood the Import scene you would know why, for a Japanese developer, having 40 Skylines, 20 S2000's and 30 Lancers makes perfect sense. Millions of people around the world tune these cars and spend sometimes hundreds of thousands of dollars but cant take them on a track. This is their opportunity.

And you might find that if the only difference in the Cappucino's is mechanical (ie engine size, gearbox) it didnt take much time to add 3 Premium cars to the mix (re-use the models).

Also there are probably lots of behind the scenes stuff that dictates what can be premium and what cant be. Bugatti Might not want the latest Veyron being smashed up infront of your eyes, and Nissan might have an advertising deal with PD/Sony (The GTR 07 was the cover art for GT5:P)

are Skylines from 1963 , 1973 , 1989 , 1997 , 2007 , ... same ?!
are S2000 from from 1999 , 2001 , 2003 , ... same ?!
30 Lancers ?!!!! are Lancer Evolution I , II , III , IV , V , ... , IX , X , ... same ?!!
More than 50 of 400 Forza 3 cars are same (only with different liveries) but people only hate on GT ...

Dnied5665d ago

Couldn't have said it better SMW, finally somebody who realizes the difference lol

Skylines range from

http://allworldcars.com/wor...

Lancer and S2000 are the same .they arent just 1 car with different years
capuchinos range from hard top convert ible and softtop and diff types

Lawliet5665d ago

@TehExcusesBegin

You have no idea what you are talking about do you? "tuning?!"LOL! the car's model? I didn't know you can tune that.. Calling each model the SAME?!

Engines
Exhaust
Fuel
Steering
Suspension
Tires
Brakes
Cooling system
- There are still many others

Each model comes with different combination of parts and upgrades! Atleast do some research when you try to act like you know anything man..

Baka-akaB5665d ago (Edited 5665d ago )

Looks like you are ironically living up to the name TehExcusesBegin .

basically nitpicking and finding whatever excuse would serve a negative point about the game

visualb5665d ago (Edited 5665d ago )

someone with:

a one day old account
named "tehexcusesbegin" spamming GT5 articles means:

someone, with an account here on N4G got ignored/down to 1 bubble and frustrated that he kept being beaten in every argument against GT5.
so he creates a new account, with a spiteful yet sardonic name to exemplify what people do when they are faced with an argument against GT5.

but to be honest, I see it this way:
Your name is TehExucusesBeging, and it matches your "excuses" for putting down GT5 perfectly.

stop making excuses trying to find flaws where there aren't.
GT5 isn't perfect, of course not. Hell i've said it myself i rather havr 500 premium cars than 200 premium and 800 standards, but thats not a down side, its just a matter of preference

a down side would be if there were NO premium cars, and all cars were standards
so please person with his possibly 8th account used to troll due to being bitter towards the fact that he can never win an argument by using LOGIC
give up,
or at least present logical sensible arguments, not stupid ones like the one you propose now.

everyone else: ignore him and / or debubble him, which in cause will make him create a NEW account, this time named "800PS2CARS" or "N4GT5" or "GT4.5" and so on...in which case, you'll simply ignore and debubble that account.
=)
as for replying to your comment...more than enough people who know what they are talking about have refuted your argument to the point of non existence,

this here comment of mine is more due to the fact that i find it hilarious someone would make an account just to trash a game. i've ignored fanboys from all sorts trashing halo, kinect, GOWIII and ME2, and now you are part of my list of ignored fanboys trashing GT5 for no reason =) (list growing daily)
/end epic rant, must drink less coffee...

The whole Premium vs Standard thing is probably affected by a number of factors including the willingness of manufacturers to pay (or cover some of the development cost) in order to have their cars be listed as standard or premium.

Future DLC would surely include turning some standard cars into premium cars when requested by manufacturers.

Mr Marbles5665d ago (Edited 5665d ago )

How do you come to that conclusion?

Other games simply put the cars that the gamers/customers want to see the most in the games, since this is a Japanese game first, it has lots of Nissans and odd choices in premium vs standard, if judged by our western tastes.

Dont blame it on manufacturers, the Veyron, Porsche, all those cars are premium in Forza, and they can be smashed and tuned.

What is missing is a result of Japanese tastes and way of doing things; and perhaps a bit of incompetence.

Baka-akaB5665d ago (Edited 5665d ago )

How are they premium in forza when all of them are the same level roughly than the standard gt5 cars and most good racing games ?

Let's not make up crap .

blasian5665d ago

"wings that you wouldnt be caught dead with" lol

Ducky5665d ago (Edited 5665d ago )

Mr Marbles5665d ago

LOL spoiler alert, that was actually pretty funny! :)

Genecalypse5665d ago (Edited 5665d ago )

I'm very disappointed in the standard cars, I didnt want them to be a straight copy paste, but thats how it seems to be going atleast.

http://www.taxigamer.com/ga...

The 8th video shown, they didint even change the "Gran Turismo 4" logos, and you can clearly see jaggies..I expected more PD.

@Genecalypse:

Because the GT4 logos were on that car in REAL LIFE, they weren't put on there for the game.

Here is the actual car:

Gran Turismo developers to create sound for Sony and Honda’s production Afeela 1 car

The Japanese joint venture’s real-world electric car will include an interior sound created by Polyphony Digital. Deliveries of the production car (which is in Gran Turismo 7 already) will arrive in 2026, starting in California.

vTuro24505d ago (Edited 505d ago )

I had no idea Sony created a whole car brand with Honda. I thought that car they showed off years ago was some one time tech demo to then sell electronics to manufacturers. This is kinda cool. I'm curious to see how it will turn out.

edit: Actually nevermind. Apparently this thing will have a subscription plan. Bruh fuck that wtf.

TheColbertinator505d ago

Even with cars, Sony pisses me off

Junryain88505d ago (Edited 505d ago )

That's alright, I'm sure it'll sound like a vacuum (GT criticism for ages) anyways..

Hypertension140505d ago (Edited 505d ago )

@Junryain88

Your comment makes it appear that you haven't played or seen a GT game since GT5.

GT Sport and GT7 have not only surpass modern Forza in sound, there some of the the best sounding racing games on the market.

Junryain88505d ago

I have all the gt games and completed them fully.

MrNinosan505d ago

Most Electric Cars have optional subscription plans, just like Afeela

Interesting - I thought at first Sophy was controlled from their server farms. Seems like they've got it running locally.

Yamauchi on Why Gran Turismo Works in VR Without Making You Sick

Remon: "I didn't expect Gran Turismo 7 to be the most relaxing and soothing game on Playstation VR2 . Yes, it's a high speed racing game with extremely realistic physics. But for me, next to Tetris Effect Connected, it's become the most meditative PSVR 2 experience. What's even more surprising is that Gran Turismo 7 in PSVR 2 doesn't make me sick despite its high speeds.

Gran Turismo series producer Kazunori Yamauchi spoke to me via video chat to discuss why the GT7 feels so enjoyable to drive and what inspired his design choices."

I was very careful not to push myself when i first popped GT7 in VR, by limiting myself to 30 min sessions. I got sick from Drive Club VR. Surprisingly, even after hours of playing on a Gr 3 race, I don’t get sick now.

SullysCigar1130d ago

Yamauchi has suggested in the past that choosing a slower car that's a convertible is a good choice for your first drive, because it makes you feel less enclosed, but you still have the frame of reference of the car itself.

When I put friends or family into GT7 on PSVR2, I sit them in front of my wheel, put them in a Mazda MX-5 / Miata, roof off and tuned to remove body roll, improved brakes, slick soft racing tyres and a turbo. This seems perfect, as they spin out less and can get started again more easily if they do. It's not too fast, but fast enough for a first timer. Set up a fan facing them too - that certainly helps.

But people quickly adjust and you just want more variation, speed and handling as you get better at the game. It's the most hooked I've been for years.

XiNatsuDragnel1130d ago (Edited 1130d ago )

Congratulations Yamauchi

Viljong1130d ago

Is vr sickness even a thing. 30 fps games are worse

mandf1130d ago

Nothing to do with frames although that has a part. Walking and then saddening stopping messes with your brain for some people. Me included

Viljong1130d ago

Switchback is the only game which give me slight nausea same as irl rollercoaster. When it go highspeed and steep downhill comes it feel like my stomach is moving up and im falling off my stool. Interesting that i get the same effect than irl coaster without movement. But i dont call it vr sickness its just very immersive. Other games i play with freemovement and all vignette effects off.

Have GT7 too and playing it without nausea. Its superb in vr mode. Wish i could get the logitech g923 for it. But dualsense is very good aswell and feel right at home after playing forza on series x. Ofc with better haptics that dual sense offer. Only bad thing about gt7 is the unskipable movie when you play it first time. I was getting frustrated after all the motor history it start showing ingame racing i think the whole thingh lasted like 20-30min. Then you get the coffeeshop things and tutorials going on and finally when you get to race you have 120hp hybrid family car.

lucian2291130d ago

Any artificial movement can cause motion sickness. Certain games I can't play in vr be cause of it. That's why I prefer games like superhot thst move only when your body moves

kneon1129d ago

It's the discrepancy between what you are seeing and feeling and what your brain expects to be seeing and feeling that causes issues in VR. That's why latency is a killer. if you turn your head and the image lags behind it messes you up.

mandf1129d ago

Kneon
You're right about that. Gt7 gave me motion sickness in the beginning but went away. I play for 12 hours a day on the weekend with no problems now. Pavlov still gets me. Resident evil is awesome but when I walk it gets me. It gets less over time.

RPGer1130d ago

Because the nature of GT games. The game and the camera is static as ever, and it very usable and a prefect way to play racing game with long sessions in VR.

Einhander19711130d ago

I must say I'm still feeling sick when playing Turismo.

Babadook71130d ago (Edited 1130d ago )

That’s too bad. Take it slow. Don’t push through uncomfortable feelings. Just play within your limit and build your VR legs over the course of a month or two. Eventually you’ll be able to play much more and with faster cars. It’s worth it, trust me.
