why even bother?ofp2 was just buggy as heck with terrible gameplay

DaReapa5655d ago (Edited 5655d ago )

Yeah, but with the flood of run-and-gun shooters on the market coupled with the lack of a quality milsim/tactical shooter on console, I am at least willing to give them a chance and see if they've learned anything from their mistakes with Dragon Rising.

Codemasters creating 'new engine technology' for upcoming unannounced FPS

GGTL: "While it may have been a slightly messy sort of game, Codemasters' Operation Flashpoint: Red River fared admirably with the critics, which is no mean feat considering that, apparently, it was fused together in just under a year....However, Codemasters seem keen not to carry on this trend - the next Action Studio title has time on its side and brand new science turning its cogs."

If anyone can pull a decent FPS out of the bag, I reckon it's Codies.

Adexus5215d ago

Really? I can't think of one FPS that they made which was any good, Bodycount was playable I suppose.

PhilipLarkin5215d ago

They've got a good track record with games (mostly sport and racing), but FPS glory has always eluded them. Still,m it's bound to happen at some stage with their expertise and if they put enough effort into it.

I enjoyed a good bunch of hours playing dragon rising MP. Hopefully they can build on the franchise. MP this time please.

Oldman1005215d ago (Edited 5215d ago )

Dragon Rising was pretty good. Very inaccessible but once you got used to the controls and everything it was a blast to play. Definitely the most realistic shooter on consoles to this day. My favourite level was the 10th I believe where you had to snipe with the thermal scoped 50 cal. I'll see if I can find a video.

ive never played a game by codemasters that i REALLY liked. Everything they produce is over hyped and medi-ocre at best... So really, who cares, lol @ codemasters

In-depth Review: Operation Flashpoint: Red River - Electronic Theatre

Of all the mechanics in the game, it’s the squad command wheel that feels the most refined. It’s just as intuitive as in Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, only this time around your artificial intelligence (AI) teammates seem to be not only more responsive, but able to interpret your commands more intelligently. It’s often the case in videogames that if a player issues a command to push ahead, the AI will simply charge into open ground, being taken down by an enemy they didn’t even see. Thankfully this is a very rare occurrence in Operation Flashpoint: Red River, with cover and communication being the two most important safety procedures; if you’ve seen an enemy, your AI squad will be aware of it.

CVG: Operation Flashpoint 3 Preview

With Operation Flashpoint 3: Red River, Codies has decided to keep a lid on its design and the result should hopefully be a far more focused and robust videogame. At the very least, having got the fundamentals down in the previous game, much of the technical side of Red River's development should just be refinement. And more refinement.

Not after the last one! I will never buy another op flash point game again. Maybe it was a good game on the 360, but on the PS3 it was an embarassment!
