Stop Supporting Broken Games

Joseph Jackmovich of gamrFeed gives Bethesda a good chastising about repeatedly releasing broken and buggy games to consumers. He argues that developers should have the integrity to to finish their product before release and not depend on patches weeks in the making to finalize a product that should have been completed when it hit the market.

He argues gamers should vote with their dollars and not tolerate this kind of disrespect.

you would think their engine would be less sloppy after all these years

Christopher5664d ago (Edited 5664d ago )

I'd stop supporting them if others made similar games of the same quality. So far, our WRPG open-world options are extremely limited and Bethesda is the best at what they do to this day. BioWare is doing a great job expanding on our options, but they don't make the same games and, honestly, there's plenty of time to play what they both make. Sure, Bethesda's games are somewhat buggy, but they're very playable and a lot of fun.

It's hard when my other options are TW2, Gothic4, and waiting for The Witcher 2 to release.

the glitch in Fallout NV would actualy go good with a Silent hill game.
watching his head spin and his body hover around in a leaned over sitting position actualy creeps me out.

badz1495664d ago

look at what the DLC generation has brought us! that's why I seldom buy games on release date. I'd rather wait a while for user reviews and news on glitches, bug etc. luckily I'm no fan of Bathesda but damn...to think that they've learnt after FO3, I guess everybody was dead wrong! should just change their name from Bathesda to BUGthesda!

Silver_Faux5664d ago

after an almost unplayable fallout 3 goty edition. i purchased nv and im over the fucking bugs and ive only been playing the game for about 12 hours. the game itself is brilliant but ive had enough so trading in nv for pre order of ac brootherhood.

poopface15664d ago (Edited 5664d ago )

I played of it, I still got alot of enjoyment form it.

I will buy it soon as the bugs I encountered were not nearly enough to stop me from having fun.

I dont think the author is right because maybe not everyone had horrible bugs, I only had a few.
saying people should stop buying games like fallout NV is almost as dumb as me telling people not to buy vanquish because its short. Not many glitchy or short games can offer the same experiences of these games.

If someone get alot of joy out of a short game, let em. If someone is able to still enjoy a game that has glitches, let em.

IF you barley like fallout, then even a small glitch will anger you. If you love fallout and know that you will not get a similar experience anywhere else then maybe some glitches will not ruin your experience. Some people may experience far too many glitches to enjoy it at all, but you cant act as if that is everyone's experience.

point is, everyone has different experiences with these games, and everyone has a different tolerance level regardless.

tacosRcool5664d ago

That's why I don't buy broken games until they get patched or re-released with the patches included or have a GOTY Edition like New Vegas will have.

jessupj5661d ago

I started a freeze count on my comment blurb. The game frooze exactly 19 time by the time I got the platnium. That's just pathetic.

You do realise the ENGINE is the thing that gets hacked and so long as they use the engine the game will be largely broken.

ReservoirDog3165664d ago

Exactly, mw2 was broken. And it was sloppy design choices and bad after release patches that was the problem. There will always be problems with online games and people exploiting stuff but how the developers react to it is what makes it a stable game. I mean, valve patches stuff within hours of when they find glitches right?

And treyarch looks like they're stepping it up. We just gotta wait and see.

lazysey5664d ago

Buddy if you're trying to call me out, I'm happy to oblige.

NYC_Gamer5664d ago

i well never buy any buggy/glitch fest title

xg-ei8ht5664d ago

I doubt people will stop supporting bug ridden games, considering alot of people support a broken console.

hiredhelp5664d ago

OOOoohhh low blow there xg-ei8ht .
BUT I LOVE IT AND YOUR KINDA RIGHT!! ding ding round 2

HebrewHammer5664d ago

Honestly, the technical shortcomings of New Vegas seldom, if ever, deminished my love for the game. Actually, in many ways, I admired the game more than Fallout 3. The addition of iron sights and WAY more side quests made subtle glitches like the occassional enemy in a wall irrelevant to me.

foss35664d ago

at the end of the day it's just a lot easier to see without using iron sights..

Christopher5664d ago

I prefer standard aim for accuracy, but I love the iron sights concept for immersion. If I was playing on very hard, it's unlikely I'd use iron sights unless I got a lot of practice with using it for each weapon.

Firezide Chat with Pete Hines

Pete Hines: “Truthfully, I still think Bethesda is just part of something that is not authentic and is not genuine. And that shouldn't be a surprise to you.”

24 years at Bethesda with Pete Hines – “There's no question that the company is not the same”

Kirk writes: "Two years after his retirement, where he spends his free time as a pro bono advisor for people struggling in the games industry, I got the chance to reminisce with him about one of the most fascinating careers in video games. "

Im glad he leaving. Bethesda has been terrible under his leadership. Redfall, Starfield, Fallout76 and the list goes on an on. His leadership style is outdated. Hopefully, MS bring someone in that knows what they are doing.

RhinoGamer88939d ago

I will give you Fallout 76, but Redfall and Starfield's blame needs to fall somewhat on the terrible Xbox publishing team. With all their resources and supposed smarts...they fungled it.

VenomUK939d ago

@Mika He’s the communications guy - you can’t blame him for the quality of the product.

jznrpg938d ago

Maybe they can go to their earlier purchases for replacements . Like Rare devs , Gear devs or 343, one of the very few studios they built up and man they are great.

Crows90938d ago

That could work ...if MS knew what they were doing themselves ...

But let's be real. Xbox was in charge of redfall and Starfield. They just don't know what a good game looks like.

RhinoGamer88939d ago

I interviewed at Bethesda once, and while there were some very smart mid level team members, the upper ranks (EP/VP/Studio Head) were a total boys' club. The Madmen series ego in that lunch was stiffling.

Pete Hines was against locking out the majority of their console playerbase (ps gamers). Probably disgusted at the hypocrisy of white knight Phil assuring PS gamers that they can still play COD. Acquisition goes through, Hines goes out.

Goodbye Pete.

gold_drake939d ago

i wonder if he was asked to leave.

im pretty sure not everyone was on board with the acquisition.

Profchaos938d ago

Pretty much everyone outside of Todd has made snide comments against the acquisition but money talks
