Should Cheaters Be Held Accountable In Reality?

GamingUnion.net: "Cheating in online games has been a problem since the internet has been able to host such events, and if there's one thing that gamers love it's hearing about how a gang of exploiters has been punished. "

How does the picture relate to cheaters lol?

mephman5729d ago

The kid is clearly getting an unfair advantage!

thebudgetgamer5729d ago (Edited 5729d ago )

yea, its like the old pull the controller out of the console trick.

Sanrin5729d ago

Maybe the old man was blind to begin with though, how can we know?!

deafwing5728d ago (Edited 5728d ago )

birds of a feather eh static?

anyways, as for teaching cheaters a lesson or two, a simple band from network play for a month or 3 would be nice but it would have to be based on the users machine (not their account cuz they can always make more of those)... should cramp their style for a bit.

360nPS3rTheSAME5728d ago (Edited 5728d ago )

oh now I see. You're pic is a girl and this is n4g. More spineless doormat begging yesmen here than I thought

LarsoVanguard5728d ago

How is your comment related to the topic? Yes, this is definitely N4G.

Nihilism5728d ago

It looks like a Kinect add...and I suppose that's vaguely related to gaming :S

SpinalRemains1385728d ago

So you cover your friend's eyes while playing games next to them too? That's not cheating at all, right?

Hardedge5729d ago

I guess that depends on the severity of their cheating. If they're making money off of it, I think companies have the right to go after them.

hay5729d ago

They should be spanked with a woodden plank.

InTheKnow5728d ago

This sounds like M$ idea to give everyone an Internet licence like a drivers licence that can be taken away because they said so. If someone did something against whatever rules they sign up on then ban them...case closed. All this nonsense about chasing guys outside of the game is ridiculous. Another attempt to control the Internet.

ABizzel15728d ago

online cheating is wrong use your own skills and if you don't have any don't play online. Online cheating should result in a permanent ban of that console for a month, and delete the account (which makes them pay for a new userid and XBL over again), People pay for XBL, and we should not have to worry about cheaters after paying for an annual service. MS needs to start cracking down (on pun intended) on cheaters.

On PSN there's really nothing you can do, they can make a new account for free, and get back online for free, so I would say ban their console from going online for a month.

ShawnCollier5729d ago

If it's stuff like the recent Starcraft 2 cheating which negatively affected the achievements/online, I have no issue with it.

big_silky5729d ago

people who willingly do stuff should be punished, you don't "accidentally" cheat or hack. i'm in favor of anything that holds the scumbags of society accountable.

vhero5729d ago

Multiplayer cheaters should be banned but single player cheating? You only cheat yourself and that effects nobody else so no punishment is needed.

SimpleSlave5728d ago

Agree on banning Multiplayer, but I advice companies to hold off on the suing part. Suing cost money, making game cost millions, lawyers fee while suing a thousand of people cost money, not a good combination when pair together. Couple that with the companies being stretched by their budget restrained and how their games are doing. But, hey, if they want to go that rout and try to sue every single person in the world, then good luck with that, but reality will come to bite them in the ass.

As for single player cheating, all I can say is that suing them would be the most hypocritical thing ever. Seeing as there has been a huge culture of creating passwords for games by their developers. Stuff like infinite ammo, god mode, invisibility, Command Console, etc. So anyone will argue that developers are the one that encouraged the "cheating" for single player. Not to mention that single player cheating does not affect anyone else.

Just saying

Cheers

danielle0075728d ago

Or campaign on L4D, which is kind of multiplayer.. but there are so many ridic glitches in L4D1/2, and they're all so fun/funny.. I can't resist them. <3 But it doesn't harm anyone, and it doesn't do anything horrible..

Dr-Zoidberg5728d ago

Except when people glitch on survival that annoys me.

JackBNimble5728d ago

Cheating in an MMO is different then cheating in your average online game because in order to do this you would pretty much have to hack the MMO server , which I may add would be illegal .

'StarCraft: Remastered', 'StarCraft II' Now Available on PC Game Pass

This week, Blizzard Entertainment dropped both 'StarCraft: Remastered' and 'StarCraft II Campaign Collection' into PC Game Pass.

meganick594d ago

Hopefully these get released on Switch and Playstation, along with Age of Empires. There’s a severe lack of good RTS games on both those platforms.

waytoobad593d ago

if only they didn't raise the price 500% last year.

Let the COD on GamePass experiment begin!
I would think their quarterly revenue will take a hit compared to a year ago, but will maybe make up for it throughout the year as the monthly GP subs keep coming in

pwnmaster3000618d ago

Was up with call of duty man?
I downloaded cod on gamepass and for some reason I cannot access the game.

darthv72618d ago

just curious what version? There are some that you can pre-load, but they wont work until their release date later this month.

pwnmaster3000618d ago

I have to redownload it again for the 3rd time to check.
I ended up just deleting it to make room for other games after the second time.

It was on Xbox game pass, I didn’t know there was other versions. I just downloaded everything, but sadly I couldn’t even access the game. Maybe 3rd time the charm. I’ll download it again.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH618d ago

It’s not out yet man unless you’re talking about MW3.

pwnmaster3000618d ago

I’m talking about mw3. For some reason I could not get it to work.

just_looken618d ago

On xbox there is the last gen/current gen versions pc though you could also get a xbox version.

When that new forza first came out for one day they had the xbox version on the pc store i was like ? what it was odd.

On xbox you can easily download the one version of a game instead of the series version so you run into issues on your series console.

pwnmaster3000617d ago

Because a game won’t run after I download it??
Man your kids must hate your @ss if that’s how you think.

It's going to be very interesting to follow up on how the new entry of CoD will perform at the box office, player numbers and distribution of Xbox, PC and PS versions this year.

DivineHand125618d ago

I got excited thinking they ported StarCraft to consoles but it's just the PC version. Also, I thought Starcraft 2 was already free to play.

TheColbertinator618d ago

I'm certain it is going to be the Campaign Collection version.

$15 horse for WoW made more money than StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty

Jason Hall, currently an indie developer and former Blizzard employee, has been sharing some really interesting stories from his long career in the industry for a while now. Some of them are truly insightful, while others may seem depressing.

I’m a little shocked that StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty sold only around 6 million copies. The original StarCraft did over 11 million. Maybe Blizzard was too leisurely in releasing StarCraft 2? Starcraft 2 came out 12 years after it’s predecessor.

Plague-Doctor27953d ago (Edited 953d ago )

Im surprised too. Starcraft was still a huge name in 2010. It was kinda the only new RTS around and other genres like MOBAs hadn't really kicked off yet. I do remember at the time sentiment around the game was
pretty angry the game was being split into 3 but I doubt that would have impacted sales to that degree

Sciurus_vulgaris953d ago

For a long time I believed StarCraft II sold on par or better than its predecessor. There was so much hype for the game. Plus it had a pretty strong E-Sports scene for a few years.

Myself and half a dozen friends all bought StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty and played it religiously for a full year. While I bought the expansions, most of my friends did not. RPGs seem to be a generally low selling genre.

Nerdmaster953d ago

I'm not shocked at all. This was an early example of Blizzard being greedy. Instead of releasing a complete experience, splitting Starcraft 2 in 3 parts so it could make us purchase it 3 times if we wanted to know the whole story and play story mode with the other races.

Sciurus_vulgaris953d ago

I originally had that stance. However, Wings of Liberty, was just as long, if not longer than StarCraft 1. The expansions were of decent length too and added a good amount of additional content.

il-JumperMT953d ago

and people wonder why we are having mtx in everything. i blame the people who actual buy them.

Nerdmaster953d ago

It's interesting he used Brazil as an example of the importance of regional pricing. Nowadays many companies on Steam are setting their prices in Brazil as high as, if not more than, their price in USA. I simply refused to buy a few games when I noticed that's the case.

Extermin8or3_953d ago

This right here is the fucking problem.
