Batman Arkham Asylum was awesome, but I think people are hyping it too much. It was not THE best game ever, or even near it. But it was a really really solid game that I enjoyed a lot.

this is just my opinion but i didnt think batman AA was all that great. Its good dont get me wrong, but i think it gets so much hype just because its a comic book game that doesnt suck.

ahh yeah it can, but rocksteady has to put there mind and asses into the next one for it to be truley more delicious than the 1st

Spider-Man 3 trumps AA in almost every way, but majorly due to the combo system in SM3. AA's map is next to useless and the game forces you to be in Detective Mode 95% of the time. Its definitely the best Batman game ever, but also incredibly overrated.

I think Iron Man outdid Dark Knight in the box office didn't it? So much for mainstream appeal. I suspect that before Sony ran it off the rails with "3" Spider-Man was a more mainstream property as well. Who do we relate to more, a nerd who gets to show his stuff with a mask on or a billionaire orphan martial artist acrobat detective with tortured nightmares and his own branded armor, secret cave headquarters, and a hi-tech stealthy armored "boat/jet/motorcycle/tank -car/submarine/giant robot/whatever-it-needs-to-be& quot;? Iron Man broke those rules hardcore but to be fare Shiny red and gold robot-suit flying around on a sunny day looks somewhat cooler than black capes, rubber nipples, and pointy ears in the night.

They can call it gadgets and skills, but detective vision, swinging, gliding, sticking to walls and ceilings, not being seen or heard jumping around with a cape in a huge echoey stone room, and remote detonated explosive gel are all pretty much super powers as is fighting a huge alligator man with grit and kung fu alone...in the form of QTE's.

And it's easy and simple and easy to play (very basic and accessible)? I'm not too sure that's such a huge advantage. If so, it ought to be really easy for other devs to replicate, expand on, and improve, leaving Rocksteady witha title that feels surpassed and dated in a short time.

Personally I want a green arrow FPS + TPB game where I can play corny happy Green Arrow with trick arrows and an arrow car, or dark, brooding, angry, troubled "sometimes" killer green arrow. If you play the first way Black Canary likes you. If you play the second she leaves you and you get seduced(mostly off screen) by a series of misguided but basically good "fem fatale" ninja anti-heroines and sleazy foul-mouthed but good looking bounty hunter chicks. Also your choice of how to play should gradually change the artstyle of the game(like inFamous) as you play and let you have a whole different finale/endgame depending on which way you choose and stick too.

But I'm a dumb ass. What do I know.

Batman:AA was a huge hit because no one expected it to be and also due to the fact that the gameplay had some huge variety, it never felt repetitive and the Challenges where a great addition to the game, but I think the game shined when it came to it's well plotted storyline. Paul Dini (the same writer of Batman: The Animated Series) made probably one of the best Batman novels out there, also - I liked the fact that the game focused on Arkham instead of Gotham. Too many open world games nowadays.
