First Impressions: OnLive, Nice To Make Your Acquaintance (spawnkill.com)

Amanda Kay of Spawnkill.com Writes:

"Who would’ve ever thought “cloud” gaming was so close to reality? Yeah, Steam allows us to purchase games on the fly, but imagine something better. Is it too good to be true? It’s hard to say. I never thought I’d see Mass Effect on the iPhone, after all. Since its release, OnLive has gotten a ton of attention—while there has been a group of naysayers clinging to the very idea of Onlive, some people have been very happy with the outcome."

It took OnLive people 2 months to get it to work on my computer, and by then I'd sort of lost interest... plus, they don't have any games I really want to play, lol, so I haven't used it really. I think it has potential though, especially if they can get a better library and tweak the rental options.

This just seems so far-fetched to me. And I still don't think broadband is widespread enough for this to be a viable competitor to console gaming. My podunk area has Comcast and that's it.

Its a cool idea and it's interesting to see that it's working relatively well...I can't help but be skeptical though..

This still is a new technology, won’t take off until the bandwidth is doubled at least. But something to watch in the coming years.

K-Tuck5735d ago

I don't see it gaining an advantage over the console hardware market.

I know it's new but it has a great potential that is really interesting. Could eliminate the problem of having to buy three consoles in the future, that's for sure. I'm also into the whole social aspect of it, that's a genius schtick to tie into it.

10 Super NES Games You’ll Probably Never Beat

If you’re a gamer “of a certain age”, you may vaguely remember the moment when games went from a grueling gauntlet requiring all your skill and concentration to tackle to a casual, checkpoint-containing, cruise control-encouraging walk in the park.

I beat Jurassic Park multiple times!

Jurassic Park had no save system, so I would leave the console running while I went to school, took breaks. It's not that it's hard, it's just tedious. But I was a Jurassic Park obsessed kid (around 13 when this hit), so I would obsessively scower ever inch of the maps (both 2D and 3D) until I had them memorized.

The Star Wars trilogy, I only beat w the cheat codes.

Sounds just like me. I mapped out the indoor areas on paper, leaving the SNES on for days at a time. But I never finished the game. I collected all the raptor eggs except one. So close !

Neonridr1330d ago

oh god, I remember beating JP on SNES and like you said, it was all in one shot.

I dunno about this list though, I beat all the Star Wars games and while some levels were tough, it was easy to get powerups and extra lives and stuff. Maybe set to the hardest settings it was tough. I also beat Contra 3, loved that game to death.

with the exception of Jurassic Park and Prince of Persia, I've beaten every other one of those. It just takes practice and time. Something I had way more of when I was younger.
