Retrospective: The Suffering - BeefJack.com

BeefJack: "The Suffering is carnage with intelligence, pathos and jet-black humour, and enough blood-soaked energy it could well end up stuck in the back of your mind for years. (It did mine.) It makes a great case that horror is about much more than disempowering the player, and it stands up over half a decade after its release. Go on. Admit it. Pick up the shotgun and scream your head off – it’s so much more fun that way."

this was a such a great game, one of my favorite games from last gen,sad it doesnt have a sequell in this gen

PS3Freak5738d ago

I loved this game so much. One of the first horror games that I ever played. It scared the shit out of me when I was a kid.

thedisagreefairy5738d ago

in my top 10 favorite games of all time. too bad the sequel (equally great game) was riddled with bugs that makes it almost impossible to finish the end boss.

very underrated franchise in my opinion. dead space used this game as example of how to use controls for horror games.

Already own the originals (the first on PS2 and the second on xbox), as well as the GoG versions. It's dumb they're getting delisted, but it's not like they're hard to emulate either.

INMATEofARKHAM637d ago

Yeah, I don't understand the delistings. I don't see WBs taking the time to remaster them so any sales you get on GOG would be better than none.

P_Bomb637d ago

Got them both on disc, fortunately!

OtterX637d ago

Glad you! I don't want to see you suffering, my friend.

90sGamingWasBetter637d ago

I've got the first on for my PS2, never got around to playing the second.

Skate-AK637d ago

I have the both games but I can never get the first game to actually boot.

Venoxn4g637d ago

Both Suffering deserve a remake

INMATEofARKHAM637d ago

Maybe this is a sign...? I don't see a reason to delist them.

I remember the suffering and it was descent game. I always wanted to play Crimson but never got to it.

But honestly, I’ve never played a game that really scared me, like some movies from the past have.

Silly gameAr1318d ago

I remember The Suffering 1 and 2. I haven't thought about those games in years. I still remember some parts of the level in the prison where a guy was sucked through a vent screaming. I don't know why that's stuck with me all of these years.

I'm saving RE VIII for when the PS VR2 comes out.

Such a shame that they never ported Fatal Frame II: Director's Cut to anything else. The added ending is by far my favourite.

darthv721348d ago

Call of Cthulhu and Cold Fear are both pretty good horror-esq games.

Orchard1348d ago

The Thing was a great game back in the day. I would love a remaster or remake.

monkey6021348d ago

The NPC Trust system was amazing for its time

KillBill1348d ago

One of the very few games that I would actually like to see a remake and deserves a new current gen upgrade.

monkey6021348d ago

That's such a good list of games 😍

autobotdan1348d ago

Fatal Frame 1&2. Its a horrible shame those two original xbox games never got backwards compatible for series consoles. Horrible
