There isn't enough realism for hardcore players in the same way that there's too little support for casual ones. It's buggy, ugly, boring and at odds with its audience. In a thread entitled 'What's positive about Ship Simulator Extremes' in Ship Simulator's own forums, someone replied 'It didn't take long to download from Steam'. However, that's most likely due to the Internet connection rather than the game.
Paradox Interactive and developer VSTEP announced today that the next DLC offering for their hard core nautical ship simulation game Ship Simulator Extremes, the Ship Simulator Extremes: Customs Vessels DLC, will be absolutely FREE.
Ship Simulator Extremes presents a challenging and realistic sim-based captaining experience, with the Customs Vessels DLC expanding the role-playing and sim challenge modes by putting the player in the role of an ICE/Customs Officer who must inspect ships as they enter the duty zones of the port.

Flight simulators are a prime example. Just about everyone I knew growing up wanted to be a pilot at one time or another.
