PSJailbreak Reverse Engineered

It was a matter of time before this would happen, it seems now that a very free solution to PSJailbreak is on the way as PSJailbreak has been reverse engineered before the products release.

"Incidentally PSJailbreak is NOT updateable. The Update feature can be mentioned, if realized at all, only with additional hardware."

whatss more their saying it cant even be updated good news for sony if they want ta stop this dead bad news for pirates since they wont b able ta play online as soon as sony puts out the update that we all know is coming

personaly i think sony is dragging their feet a bit ta cash in on the extra sales n so they can mass ban n get a few more sales that way... jus my 2 cents.

Biggest5720d ago

But there is nothing to drag their feet about. There is an update on Monday the 30th. The PSJailbreak is supposed to start shipping around that same time. It'll be patched, if they care, before anyone gets it. It would be like crying about a pimple when the prom is next month. No big deal.

TheMART5720d ago (Edited 5720d ago )

Lulz, it'll be patched before anyone gets it?

Those that ordered it, will keep their PS3 offline mate, so nothing gets patched.

I have a Fat and a Slim, and the Fat is still on 3.15. That one won't get online anymore, but will get a PS Jailbreak clone to boot soon to be able to run as a devkit and eat any homebrew made.

Besides that we still don't know if a fw update can fix this hole, and if its fixed if its not like iPhone has that it'll be jailbroken again within days/weeks. So yeah. Its an awesome hack, simple as that.

EDIT

@ The one below

Did you pay attention? This hack makes the PS3 like a devkit... Anything that WILL be made it can run. So yeah, no homebrew yet. Wow mr. wiseguy, this hack is out since a week! SDK has been leaked, all documentation has. So go figure

No piracy available? You mean the Backup manager only backups originals not downloadable games on HDD? Mmmhhh you ever heard of WBFS Manager? You ever heard of Sony's official Disc Image Generator? Go look in screengrab made from official SDK documentation...

Firmware upgrade for new games, right... You know PSP right? You can stay on 5.00 m33 firmware and downgrade the games. Same can be done with PS3 games mate.

So really. This is like a JTAG 360. Its homebrew heaven, and its started to be made as this very moment. How about a Wii emu with 1:1 controls as Move+sub = Wiimote+nunchuck?

HeroXIV5720d ago

@TheMART

1. No homebrew at all yet. So... they've bought an expensive piece of plastic and metal.

2. No piracy available*. So... they've bought an expensive piece of plastic and metal.

3. PS3 WILL update as latest firmwares will be available in future games. Closest : GT5/LBP2. If they don't it'll be on the biggest game* Black Ops. And they'll HAVE to update. So... they've bought an expensive piece of plastic and metal.

*- I do not condone piracy but this is something they're OBVIOUSLY wanting. *2- Not the biggest for most of us but it'll still, annoyingly, sell better than other games and most importantly you have to be online to play the main part of it.

TheFinalNinja5720d ago

and when the patch is out and a hacker bypasses then what? cling and cry to sony and hope they patch it again?

BISHOP-BRASIL5720d ago

All of a sudden The Mart comes back to N4G, have not one, but TWO PS3s, want to play PS3 games so bad that he'll buy a useless 150bucks USB dongle that don't work for nothing...

Come here Mart, sit by the shadow and drink something... You had been far too much in the sunlight.

Biggest5720d ago

"and when the patch is out and a hacker bypasses then what? cling and cry to sony and hope they patch it again?"

From comments like these it would seem that the PS3 hasn't been, and still is, the only UNhacked console on the market. It's the wannabe pirates and hackers that are clinging to hope here. They are hoping that after all these years someone has FINALLY done something to the PS3. The reality is that they just stole/bought Sony's own servicing tool. But they can have that "victory" and say they hacked it. Since the "hack" is only in the hands of the people saying "Give me money for this UBERHACK!" it is nothing more than hopes and dreams that sometime within the next few weeks they can have $170 worth of game backup heaven.

sikbeta5720d ago (Edited 5720d ago )

They can't update cos this dongle-thingy can access Debug-Mode, it never was a hack to flash a CFW or something like that, the OS is intact, they can manipulate some stuff in this mode and that lets them make the backups of games in order to play from the HDD, this "hack" reached its limit already and it'll be useless when the next FW comes out, there is no way they can update this dongle, they'll desperately need an Updated dongle and do everything again by the time Sony release a New FW update...

morganfell5720d ago

You don't know the difference between a dev kit and a debug kit. You just showed your lack of knowledge in a huge way. As much as you wish this to be the demise of the PS3 it will not be. And they have already confirmed this exploit won't be fixed with an update once Sony blocks it. Go ahead and say it again - "just don't update".

Yeah, no multiplayer or PSN access. Everyone here is laughing at such idiotic comments.

rockleex5719d ago

Will come with mandatory updates on the disc.

Listen to the mart, rofl.

Go play your 360 and kinect animals.

ROFL.

Eamon5720d ago (Edited 5720d ago )

And that's got to do with... what?

Also, the article has misleading sub-title. The iPhone dev-team said they won't be releasing anything where 4.0.2/3.2.2 is the latest public release.
They didn't specifically said they are quitting.

But that's besides the point, morganfell. This has nothing to do with PS3 jailbreak.
Also iPhone jailbreak is completely legal. And according to this N4G submission, ps3hax claim that after the ps3 jailbreak was reverse-engineered, they found that no code belonging by Sony was used.

In conclusion, that makes this ps3 jailbreak completely legal to use.

morganfell5720d ago

The reply went to the wrong remark. Mart had stated it PS3 jailbreak wouldn't be stopped just like the Iphone jailbreak. And yes I know all about the legality. I have been talking about it in depth before anyone else did. Just check my post history where I point out how this does not qualify under the same legal exceptions.

morganfell5720d ago (Edited 5720d ago )

No. Just no.

Here, a past comment because you think what they are doing is legal and in that belief your are wrong:

Spaghett5720d ago

Mart probably plays more PS3 than you do, egghead.

Elven65720d ago

There was actually a pretty heated debate about this on the N4G forums between Mart and Bloodmask a few days ago.

http://forums.n4g.com/tm.as...

Turns out he basically owns two of each current gen consoles :P

rroded5720d ago

so epic it defines the console war

blood and his ilk are doing all they can but the masses have spoken N WE WILL HAVE FUN

Oh boy...is it still plug and play?
It's not a hack, ps3 is unhackable-ps3 fanboy
Ok, can I still copy and play games for free? Yes? Ok its not a hack, i don't care-ps3 pirate

tiamat55720d ago

I love it how people joyously claim that the hackers are unstoppable as if they were given a gift from heaven. How happy they are that Sony will have to spend valuable resources fighting this instead of using them to make games and improve our gaming experiences. How wonderful that we innocent legit PS3 owners will have to suffer along side the @$$holes that cheer the criminals on and make up flimsy stupid reason why hacking is good for the PS3 or how Sony deserves this for some twisted reason. I am glad I don't know you people in real life. You would probably jump in my car while my back is turned go sell it to jackers come back and explain why it's a good thing that you stole my car and that you needed the money to buy games.

"Gaming’s Biggest Fighting Franchise"

Press X to (seriously) doubt.

DarXyde2d ago

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

And then MK1 killed it again.

PlayStation legend Shuhei Yoshida says Jim Ryan fired him because he didn't listen to him

Why did Sony push Shuhei Yoshida out of his role leading PlayStation's first-party games? He'd overseen some huge successes. Well, apparently, he didn't listen.

Yeah I can see that for sure. Shuhei Yoshida should have been in charge not Jim Ryan.

Cacabunga4d ago

It should be free highway for him now.. but Sony are too stupid to see this, especially that moron Hulst

S2Killinit3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

Wtf why all that anger. PlayStation is dominating on every level. Besides I think there is a little more to hiring a CEO than just who is available. Its not like its a athlete your team wants to buy.

neutralgamer19923d ago

S2Killinit

live service failures, chasing trends, closing studios. yes dominating

Cacabunga3d ago

Sony is Dominating because competition is not existing. Compared to previous gens this is the poorest in terms of software offerings.

Last gen we got Uncharted 4 Lost Legacy and TLOU2 from ND alone.

This is so far a remasters gen, with no competition to lift up the quality

1nsomniac3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

..."PlayStation is dominating on every level"....

...Really???

PlayStation are soon heading into a new generation in the not to distant future. They currently have the worst customer satisfaction they've ever sustained as a company. The company is heading for a huge crash while at the same time they'll need to be planning how they are going to try and win back that favour and the build up to their new releases.

Yes financially they're winning but they're going to have to ride out this complete public corporate disaster. No one has faith in the company or the product anymore. They've damaged their public image so much this generation. Greed can kill anyone.

medman3d ago

Hulst is a disaster......

blacktiger3d ago

He would've done the same thing and fire Jim Ryan and Shuhei would be the villain. Why?
Because Elite creates the narrative and distraction for gamers, users and citizens.

Outside_ofthe_Box4d ago

More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.

robtion3d ago

Yep. Yoshida was responsible for bringing one of the best games of this generation to playstation (Stellar Blade). He is an actual gamer and is in touch with what gamers want (creative, fun games, not GaaS and agenda pushing). He also seems like a genuinely nice guy if you watch some interviews. Of course they got rid of him.

darthv724d ago

Makes you wonder if MS even thought about hiring him after Phil and Sarah were leaving. He certainly couldn't make their situation any worse.

Agent753d ago

Microflop. After Windows XP and Xbox 360, it all went floppy.

S2Killinit3d ago

Floppy 😆
No pun intended

badz1494d ago

Yoshida for President! Jim Ryan was and always be a hack! Sony should get Shu back

Lightning774d ago

All the gamer/consumer lead heads are gone across PS and Xbox. shuhei gone phil's gone (questionable) but gone. The future of gaming is somewhat uncertain across the board.

Ex-Naughty Dog Dev: Big Studios Are 'Forced' to Hire Like Factories

There’s definitely some truth to this. When teams get too large, coordination starts to outweigh creativity—layers of approval, risk aversion, and tight deadlines can turn bold ideas into “safe” ones. Keeping a team under ~200 people sounds ideal for maintaining clear communication and a shared vision. That said, massive AAA projects also come with huge technical demands and expectations, so scaling up isn’t always avoidable. The real challenge is figuring out how to keep that small-team creativity alive inside big studio structures.

DarXyde3d ago

More than that, it's logistically untenable. Inevitably, when teams get too large, how do you keep tabs on accountability? I suspect this massive team size is a consequence of the perfectionism streak Naughty Dog has.

I wish we could have so many people working on something and it turns out great because I'm all for collaboration in spirit - the problem is too many people as part of the larger team and smaller units. Suppose for example that you have too many people in the art department; you will very often come up against fiercely competing visions for how things should look. That competitive vision will cause friction between team members, team doesn't work as a unit, the back and forth can further delay parts that the other departments are waiting for, etc etc.

A 200-person team says, to me, that we need to scale back game development. Even if it means we go back to PS2 era costs and scale, why not? Those games are still great fun, the budgets were in check, and you could literally break the 200-man team into like 10 20-man teams working on different projects.
