GameBlurb: Shank Review

Shank is a game that had slipped beneath my radar up until a few weeks ago when I saw a trailer for it. I was initially intrigued by the 2D art styles but was unsure if the gameplay held up. Let's find out!

Still haven't gotten a chance to play this game yet. Will try do so tonight!

frostypants5761d ago (Edited 5761d ago )

I downloaded the demo to my 360. The opening cinema was all choppy...I think it doesn't like my 360's USB storage (they should probably say so in the notes), so if I buy it it'll be on my PS3, as I refuse to be fleeced on the 360 hard drive price. Game played great though. It's not as good as a Limbo or a Fat Princess, but it's solid. Wish the guns had a bit more punch.

Kiroe5761d ago (Edited 5761d ago )

Actually, this is a known bug on the 360 and the devs are looking into it. So expect a patch soon.

jaidek5761d ago

Bought it last night and I am having a blast with it. But man, it can get tough!!!!

liquidxtension5761d ago

Hmm is it me or dlc games are turning out to be better than full release games?

junk3d5761d ago

I hear you. These DLC games have been getting me through the summer gaming drought!

frostypants5761d ago (Edited 5761d ago )

For the price? Absolutely, at least in terms of gameplay quality. However, many of them could stand to be longer (e.g. Limbo).

But I'd take 10 nice cheap DL games (DLC implies add on content, not a full game) over one overpriced crap game any day (*cough*HAZE*cough*TOO HUMAN*cough*.

evildeli5761d ago

between this and limbo, I might have to break down and start downloading these games.

MegaBit5761d ago

There are too many good DLC games right now. I am going to have trouble finding time to play this.

Ares84PS35761d ago

...for the first 20 minutes. Than you reach the final boss.

Amplitude5761d ago

I've clocked about 2 hours in already and i'm pretty sure that i'm nowhere near the final boss. And even if i am, hell if i care- i'm 2 hours in.
I'm not sure where you heard that, or if you were mistaken because of *WHO* the first boss was. But, despite being the main enemy off the beginning, the game doesn't end after fighting him.

When logic meets EA it generates anti-matter ..... so try not to apply it in any meaningful way. Entropy is what matters in there !!

badz14985d ago

cue the apologist saying that these are mostly just contractors hired for this specific project bla bla bla

The community warned them this would happen but nope they knew better they continued with the live service push the made the art style cartoonish and this is the result

isarai_lee97d ago

It's always so bizarre when studios announce something super early in development under the suggestion of forming the game to player feedback, and then they push against all feedback heading straight for the cliff while everyone is warning them along the way

US Lawmakers Urge Review Of EA Sale

The Congressional Labor Caucus sent a letter to the FTC warning the debt-financed, largely PIF-owned deal could be bad news for workers

lol ya think? they're sending all that work to the cheaper labor market as soon as possible. and FYI, that labor market has exploded in the last 5-10 years. They have enough people to replace every single job. But honestly, EA is over filled with useless upper management as it is. You could probably trim 25% of their staff with no real loss in production. They aren't gamers, they're business execs. Just look at how many AI related jobs they're already starting to post. Its also hilarious that PIF owns Battle field 6

Wait,

The same congress that attacked Lina Khan when she fought the Microsoft Activision purchase.
The same congress that allowed Disney to buy 90% of Fox
The same congress that allowed Liv Golf to buy the PGA
The same congress that sits back while Paramount tries a hostile takeover despite losing the bid for Warner Bros.

NOW, the suddenly cares about doing what's "right" for works? Yeah, right.

No. There were elections and some of the scum were replaced.

TheColbertinator131d ago

Different elections. Different scum. Same results.

rlow1131d ago

i know its a long shot, but i hope this gets shot down.

EA now owned by The Saudis and Ubisoft to inevitably be owned by China. In hindsight, once EA and Ubisoft started having their financial woes, they should have pulled a Koei Tecmo/Bandai Namco by merging their operations into one.
