IGN: Does Backbreaker's Greathouse Update Make It Fun?

We venture back into the euphoria-filled world to see if Natural Motion righted its wrongs.

Instead of making a game, they should of sold the idea of the Euphoria engine to EA ot Midway. The game looks nice and the animations are awesome, but everything else is terrible. Plus there is no license in game. I mean WTF? It's not really a game, yet more of a tech demo.

I am suprised they even updated the piece o' crap

Hey they update madden every year.

GiantJedi5653d ago

Yeah because they listened to there community, even if it is small, and gave out a free update which should be in a top 5 somewhere for biggest updates ever. Even if it's not a great game, I give Natural Motion props for not giving up.

Even with some known issues or non Madden play/license, the game still has its fun and replay value. The update #3 has improved in some cases but didn't fix some things which means learning to play Backbreaker is the key. unlike Madden 11 which almost plays the game for you.Madden is "the game" but I like to be challeged by a new football game like Backbreaker and this the first installment so yes there is going to be some issues but that just makes for a better game next time around, Madden made changes over the years to get better.I still have not purchased Madden 11 yet but I have played the demo (not bad)but not enough to make me stop playing Backbreaker I'm getting used to the large players on the screen so now madden players just look to small. Anyway it depends on you cup of tea, what do you like, ok play on.

The Madden franchise and formula has been around for over 20 years. Just on the current gen consoles there have been 4 or 5 games alone. So, they have had plenty of time to get it right. Natural Motion has only had this one chance. In the 3 years of development they had to learn to game of football from scratch, tailor the Euphoria engine specifically for football interactions (which was probably insanely difficult), and create the actual game. Once they didn't get it right, they kept their promise to make a better game with this patch. No, it doesn't fix all of the issues. But, it does make it more fun to play. When's the last time that Madden had a patch to fix on-the-field issues? Which, by the way, are mostly legacy issues that have been passed from one Madden to the next.

4 Sports Game Franchises That Should Be Dissolved

There are many sports franchises that are fantastic editions to the world of gaming, deserving both as an edition to their respective gaming field and to video gaming at large. Other franchises, however, have seen their time. It’s time for these franchises to go the way of the dinosaur before they get even worse than they already are.

Should be dissolved too. The yearly additions are essentially the same except for rosters, schedules, and new stadiums.

I would go as far as to say that most of these games are actually worse than the previous iteration.
