I had high hopes for this game. A game that tried to lean towards a more realistic look on football. However, when I finally played it, I really, really wanted my 30 bucks back....
Graphics: The game looks good. However it doesn't look as good as some of the newer titles of today. The game does make you feel as if your in a football field with its camera angles and intense running effects. The physics in the game are surprising brutal. Probably the best I've ever seen in a football game.
Gameplay: Backbreaker tries too hard to stray away from other football games. The developers tried to make Backbreaker a different, and better football experience. However it ended up being a sack of dog mess. The controls are awful, the camera angles make me cringe and the passing controls make me want to throw my controller. Trust me, when you first play this game it'll take you at least an hour to make your QB throw the ball to the person your aiming for.
Difficulty: There is an option to pick your difficulty level, but I'm not going to lie, I found this game very difficult. I'm usually great at football games, Madden, Blitz, even older PC football games. But Backbreaker's A.I. is brutal, and the controls seem to never want to do what you want them to do. My friend and his brother are both football game aficionados and they both couldn't win a single game. They borrowed the game from me for 2 weeks and they said they never played a more horrible football game. You'd think after 2 weeks you could get used to the controls and do some damage, but apparently not.
Fun Factor: Unless you can master the game's terrible control scheme and complicatedly simple (yes, I said complicatedly simple. What are ya gonna do? Sue me?) interface, then you will want to stay away from this game. I'm not a Madden fanboy, I'm actually looking for something different than Madden or Blitz. Something realistic, but this game just does not cut it.
Verdict: I'm really glad that I also bought Mass Effect 2 when I bought this game. Because if I hadn't, then I'd be stuck with a terrible game.
Michael, Ray, and the best of the worst for the week of October 14th!

There are many sports franchises that are fantastic editions to the world of gaming, deserving both as an edition to their respective gaming field and to video gaming at large. Other franchises, however, have seen their time. It’s time for these franchises to go the way of the dinosaur before they get even worse than they already are.
Should be dissolved too. The yearly additions are essentially the same except for rosters, schedules, and new stadiums.
I would go as far as to say that most of these games are actually worse than the previous iteration.

Operations Sports - Late Thursday night, a user on the Backbreaker forums posted a correspondence via private messaging with the head developer of the Backbreaker franchise, Todd Gibbs:
Lol complicatedly simple. XD
Tbh maybe I may like this, I kinda hate madden it's so boring. Sometimes I wanna play as the guy and not as a sudo-manager.
