Cheats drove me out of PC gaming(hackers esp) and I've seen SO many lag switching lately on both Live(last september was amazing for it) and PSN that it's getting pointless there as well. FFS you even see it playing MKWii with my kids! Loads of dicks with invincibility hacks or an infinite number of boosts and blue shells-I mean why?

I remember first getting really wound up with cheats playing CS with mates against one particular bunch of US lads who we'd managed to beat the last time we played(mainly by luck as I'm sh1t as hell at CS!)and the cheating was incredible. I'm not knocking Stateside gamers here as everyone is as bad for it and it just happened the worst ones I'd seen were American. they were virtually all cheating and impossible to ill in any way it seemed and aster that I always felt that if I got a stuffing thee was likely a bit of cheating going on-any sign was interpreted as a hack or cheat even though most of the time it won't have been. that is one effect the cheats and few of us elsewhere consider but the cheats actually cause you to doubt highly skilled players as you start thinking -"he MUST be cheating". It erodes the whole damn ethos of online gaming, imho, and anyone caught should have their IP address suspended for a month from EVERYTHING if we're ever to try to prevent it spreading further and making gaming more of a laughingstock as far as competition is concerned.

I despise cheating and the people who do it. If yu must cheat then try to think why you're doing it. What madew you so weak and so insecure? I'm, seriously, cra at shooters and would benefit miles more than most by cheating a bit but I can handle losing but when someone who's clearly been cheating(like this one Cornish idiot who'd been able to soak up Larrk hits and jump 50feet in the air all game in R2 recently did)wants to then tell you how crap you are in the .lobbies then sod off.

I'll never get why anyone would do it. you hear of "victimless crime" and while cheating like this can never be called that I fear it goes the other way and is a crime that even the perp gets NOTHING out of!! A spoilless, lootless, prize free and pride free crime? They are the men with no shame.

It has nothing to do with when it came into existence, it's how they're used.

The difference is that on nes there wasn't any such thing as leaderboards or online competitions for real prizes and the like. Its a basic sense of honor that gamers today lack.

I don't know what FPS's you're playing, but in more realistic ones like Modern Warfare 2, turbo controllers can give you a huge advantage. Because they allow you to fire guns that are single shot per trigger pull at extremely fast speeds. And shoot your akimbo weapons off at the exact same time, keeping them in sync.

It's AI slop because it ignores the artists intent and changes the details ESPECIALLY when it comes to character faces. The scariest part of it is introducing it as the next stage of DLSS, a feature where the current iteration already has controversy surrounding it and for quite a lot of games cannot be fully disabled. So reasonably the precident is already set for what path this could take, and it's not good

In case you didn't watch the video then let me point just one part. It overrides the lighting. Then the question of what is the point of ray tracing cost and so on. Many of the lighting deletes shadow, including shadow on the face like eyes even chin.

Why stop at art when it comes to human input - why not just have AI play the game for us, remove human input altogether

And what about when you can't? Cause there's plenty of games where you cannot fully disable dlss already, i mean we're well into an era where it's a major crutch for developers to cover up their cut corners, why would this be any different?

It's all about choice in the end. But, I would say that calling it 'more realistic' is quite a stretch. It looks like AI art, and that's rarely realistic.

I had the same exact thought the first time this was brought up in a separate article about a week ago. Took me straight back to the conversations surrounding “horse armor.” Just don’t buy it they said. Years later, many IPs I previously enjoyed are so infected with monetization schemes that I don’t even consider purchasing them anymore.
