Limbo: A Journey Through Hell

Bitmob: The word travel may have origins in the idea of suffering, but if you look up the definition of the word right now, the dictionary states that travel is "often for pleasure or business." Ancient people travelled for necessity as hunter gatherers, or for spiritual pilgrimage. For them, a journey was a fragment of hell, as Chatwin would say. Ancient Egyptians believed that their purgatory would be a journey through the "Field of Reeds." Their afterlife became a projection of journeys they were not able to take during their lifetime. Today, we travel for novelty. Something along the way was lost. Somewhere, we thought we could defy our nature.

We're in Limbo.

damn, now THAT is a review/article. moar like this please.

Greywulf5778d ago

When you start it, or just see the screens, even video. You just think "Meh, been there, done that."

But once you take a dive into the game, it really reeks of atmosphere and personality. The design is amazing, its beautifully done. Although completely monochromatic, there is a great sense of depth. Things like the water reflecting/refracting with simple glimmers is just one of those little things that completes the picture.

The game is eerie, frustrating, and definitely creepy. Wish this one was on the PC, can only play it at my friends house.

Just good art direction. Animation/Physics are nice. Good game.

I'm not really sure what this is, but it makes me want to play Limbo.

I'm the author of that piece. Though I submitted it to bitmob, it was originally posted at my personal game website/blog/news site. This is where I house all my posts like this, so, not to sound like an advert, but if you liked this piece, then perhaps you'll want to check my website out.

I’m reminded of some of the alternate endings in the Suffering games.
