Quantic Dream working on "two very different projects"

PSUNI: From previous reports it was thought that Quantic Dream had dropped most of their previous work to get PlayStation Move motion controls into Heavy Rain. The team had planned a number of new downloadable chapters for the game, but instead Moved their work to motion control. Well it turns out that the team has been hard at work on more than just that.

I really need to get that game. Looks awesome.

Heavy Rain is the most adult game I've ever played. Not just M rated, but a mature game for gamers who want a deep story with great characters and a thrilling story full of action, love, horror, sadness, well really your choices you make, determine your experiences.

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person in the world that didn't like Heavy Rain.

techie5789d ago (Edited 5789d ago )

Ummm...well then you'd be blind. Did you read the reviews - there were some negative ones.

Most of the traditional world of gamers wouldn't like Heavy Rain - that would be because they are stuck in a predictable rut.

Unbiased15789d ago

Hes not blind or stupid, not everyone likes Coca Cola but sure a lot of people do. I still have to play HR, i know i will love it, since i loved Indigo Prophecy. And Demo was fine.

On topic, i hope those are PS3 exclusives, and Sony acquires them eventually.

Ok back to RDR.

Ya know, I was just watching some random mediocre show called Gravity, but I realized, even then, I was still enjoying myself far more than even the quality games I typically play. Maybe it's because I'm more of a movie guy. I don't know. But I realized that I had more fun investing myself in these character's lives than I ever did even playing some of the most critically acclaimed games like Grand Theft Auto, Gears of War, Killzone, or even Mario for that matter. I'm sure I've already pissed off a lot of people by saying that, but for me, at least, it's true.

I was surprised, though, the day I bought Heavy Rain. I told myself I'd just give it a whirl for a couple hours. What started as a couple hours ended up as a couple dozen as I plowed through the game and it's multiple endings and playthroughs. Never before had a game impacted me the same way. Sure, there's Ico. There's Shadow of the Colossus, and even Heavenly Sword and Uncharted. But never before I had been given that genuinely emotional Adult experience with a video game. Heavy Rain was my first, and I look back on it fondly.

I don't want gaming to be stuck in the same rut you mention here. I want it to move on and be more like Heavy Rain. I want to feel the same things all over again. Those emotions are not exclusive to movies, books, and TV shows. Heavy Rain showed to me that games can evoke the very same emotions, and I hope it does for all you gamers as well.

Kudos, Quantic Dream. <3

I wish them the best of luck with their next two projects: Horizon, and Mysterious Game #2.

Another project, Realistic Story, involving emotions, Drama, pure Innovation for the Right Adult Audience.

Thank you Quantic Dream.

Here's hoping they meet success similar to Heavy Rain's.

I’m reminded of some of the alternate endings in the Suffering games.

Please stop comparing video games to movies

"Many video games catch not only great commercial attention but remarkable critical attention as well. We have seen games like Heavy Rain, The Last of Us Part II, and even entries in the Metal Gear series described as fantastic interactive experiences, even heralded in the same way as Hollywood's greatest films.

I would suggest that not only is this an unfair comparison but also a harmful one. Video games, by their very nature, are an intricately different medium and should be weighed against one another rather than another form of media," Phillip writes for GF365.

Yes, please stop. They're better than most hollywood drivel nowadays.

BLAKHOODe2010d ago

I think Hollywood films will becoming increasingly more like video games in the future, especially as the world embraces the "new normal" from the pandemic. It makes sense, as games like Spider-Man: Miles Morales showcase just how realistically we're reaching in graphical capabilities, as well as showcase extreme action sequences in spectacular ways. And as time goes by, it'll get easier and cheaper to produce such "art", as well as create new star "actors" that never age, never die, never complain, never gets involved in scandals, etc. Technology is amazing and we're only just getting a taste of what it'll eventually be.

sourOG2010d ago

No. Some games are like movies.

medman2010d ago (Edited 2010d ago )

No. For the money spent, a quality game provides far more entertainment value than a quality movie. Especially when looking at what is going on in the world, and how a studio can attempt to pilfer from consumers by charging 30 dollars for Mulan via streaming. Ridiculous. There is no comparison....games all day.
