I actually prefer that sad, dark endings to anything I play or watch. It's much more realistic and it allows me to have some kind of emotion. When the cliche happy ending happens, all I say "Oh, that's good."
Multiple endings aren't that great in big open world games like Mafia as either you have to open a save from a few minutes ago to get different ending or a save from 20 hours ago. Both options suck.
