Jumpgate Evolution contains three factions. The Solrain faction, a corporate entity, has you as an employee of an entity simply known as "The Company." Quantar is heavily grounded in tradition, and believes in "honor through battle." They are also arguably the most technologically advanced. Octavius is the token war-centric faction, loosely structured like ancient Rome. They were the focus of the demo.
LEGO Universe developer NetDevil has apparently laid off a large number of staff, with stories already circulating that the company has been closed.
