It’s remarkable how little you have to do to win – or lose – hearts and minds at E3. Yesterday, Microsoft treated people to a gesture-controlled courtship dance for its love rival’s four-year old conquests. For everyone else – dare it be said, the overwhelming majority of its user base – outgoing trilogies and safe sequels were deemed enough. Nothing about Xbox Live Arcade, Game Room or PC. No howitzer burst of multiplatform stunners. No Crackdown, APB or Mass Effect in an evening devoted to platform exclusives.
After such an alienating performance, Sony barely had to show anything – only that it cared. And in a keynote that played it largely by the numbers, it did.

Square Enix launches Final Fantasy X 25th anniversary site, revealing new Nomura art, books, music releases, and merchandise.
Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.
They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

A brutal reset, a smarter story, and a return to what made it great—Mortal Kombat (2011) revived the series.
15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.

Why did Sony push Shuhei Yoshida out of his role leading PlayStation's first-party games? He'd overseen some huge successes. Well, apparently, he didn't listen.
Yeah I can see that for sure. Shuhei Yoshida should have been in charge not Jim Ryan.
More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.
Makes you wonder if MS even thought about hiring him after Phil and Sarah were leaving. He certainly couldn't make their situation any worse.
All the gamer/consumer lead heads are gone across PS and Xbox. shuhei gone phil's gone (questionable) but gone. The future of gaming is somewhat uncertain across the board.
Sometimes Edge needs to relax and stop criticizing every little detail.I stopped reading reviews on Edge since they get too obsessed with every little negative point. This article is a pointless attack on Microsoft and Sony. Please Edge take a chill pill and shut the hell up.
"while Microsoft’s events seemed arrogant and gaudy, so bereft of core games as to snub its own user base, Sony’s struggled to cram everything in."
I feel like I'm in Bizarro World...where up is down and black is white, and Edge says something nice about Sony while criticizing Microsoft.
Sony does have a lot of content and little time to show it. They should have went for a 3 hour conference or 2 conferences.
I expect we will hear a lot of news over the next few days about some of the games missed. I was expecting Ape Escape 3 but I expect it to be an Sonys booth.
Anyway there is still GamesCom and TGS for other announcements.
I am starting to understand why they had to reveal all those games before E3.. I dont think people could handle all those exclusives revealed on E3 + GT5 date + TM
