Edit: I like how everyone likes to mention Killswitch whenever Gears is mentioned. If you liked Killswich that much why didn't you make it as popular as Gears? Oh, I know, because Gears squashes all competitors. Oh, btw, killswitch wasn't the first game with a cover system...

Both are Japanese 3rd person shooters.
With the hot chicks QT looks worth a try too.

killswitch started the whole cover system, and "pop and shoot" mechanic craze. gears can get away with it because it's arguably the best cover system to-date. it has its issues, but for the most part it's pretty good.

the first game that i personally played with pop and shoot mechanic was MGS1.
Although u had to play twister with your fingers to get it done XD

Gears of War is pretty much Resident Evil 4 (over the shoulder camera), Kill Switch (cover system), and Bionic Commando (cover system) all in one in my opinion.

killswitch wasn't the first, but it's the first one that tried to make cover more of an offensive, action-based move as opposed to just a defensive one. winback and the old splinter cell were more for stealth, and popping out when no one knew you were there.

gotta play it.

any game that has a cover system is automatically a "gears clone" now *sigh* ... you might as well say gears invented the third person shooter genre zzzz ... I don't have to play quantum theory to know it's probably got it's own identity and feel.

it doesn't try to be Gears like most TPS, and they got everything right with drakes weight,speed and things like that. no ass cam when running and things like that. they made their own game

we see games like this and lost planet 2 and many other have no soul because its a copy of gears

also i do think gears influences many TPS

A game like this screams for a "Choose your Character: Melee or Ranged" or a Co-op feature but unfortunatly you get neither with this title.

A 3rd person shooter is roughly a Western genre with big titles such as Gears or War and Uncharted leading the way. I'm worried that rather than try to enhance the experience or make it there own, they will simply try to imitate to try to recreate the success.

I'm also curious to see how the Eastern market will take this game. It's obviously stylized after more popular Western titles and seems to play like one as well, and as we've seen the East hasn't really taken to that type of game before.

We'll see.

(Edit: Perhaps a system were you can switch freely between the Ranged and Melee fighters. Perhaps with corrisponding partner attacks, based on character used. Love thinking of ideas for things like this.)

omg it musta stole from gears cuz it has a cover system! i mean who wouuld think!!! find cover in a game with shooting!!!! its so crazy and innovative!!!! yeaaah right, cover system was bound to happen whether gears did it or not, just like FPS happened when doom came out, or rpgs, or fighting games or any genre.....dumbasses

with Quantum Theory, I played the demo and was not impressed. I felt like they were trying to mix Gear of War with Lost Planet, and didn't do either very well. May be someone who never played either would have a blast with it though.

I followed this game forever until I finally came out. I got it and loved every bit of it. Originally supposed to be a PS3 exclusive. It got horrible reviews and I didn't understand any of them. They must've been playing a different game then me!
