Physical copy all the way for me , it's more tangible , actually feels like you own it , i also like to read the manual (Nowadays they're normally rubbish tho) , enjoy the artwork etc .

Same goes for movies and music , i prefer hardcopy.

This is why:

I like to see my collection on the shelf. I just like to look at it. It gives me a sence of pride. If you are a collector you'll understand.

Also what happens when one day company X decides that they won't offer a particular game anymore that you purchased for $50 and for some reason you don't have it downloaded. Than you decide to play the game for some reason and you aren't able to because there is no possible way to own it anymore. I think true ownership comes when you can actually hold something in your hand. Otherwise it can be taken away from you in a second and you won't even know what just happend.

Also storage space. MGS4 is 50gigs. How many HDD's will you need?? I know they are getting bigger and bigger but regardless. Even to download a 50gig file takes forever.

Also to take a nice walk to the store insted of sitting home like a lazy @sshole is much better for you. I got a GameStop about 2 minutes where I work and a Best Buy about 2 blocks down. People should stop being lazy and get walking maybe. At least you do some "workout".

I'm against DD. Some add-on content is fine but full games I won't ever support. When the DD days come....and it will I will just play my good old games that I collected through out the years.

Impluse is the best digital service, after downloading, you don't even need to use the app to play the game, so you can download it and reinstall it without ever using the impluse client, that is freedom that you will never get with steam.

But I still prefer retail

1. Steam is a rip off, I have yet to see 1 game that is cheaper on steam at launch than a physical copy I can order online...

2. The control of it is in your hands; I can install my game whenever I please and don't have to install 3 gig of mandatory updates etc... hassle free gaming with physical copies.

would you rather have a girl in real life,even though dating costs a few bucks or pay less to just look at a girl online? as a collector a hard copy is always preferable.

Physical copies are the future. for consoles.

1. You can carry it with you from place to place.
2. You can make money by selling it to someone.
3. You can trade games.

Those can't be done with DDL. I have purchased a few arcade games but I get full games in the physical.

I like having the choice for both really, the more choice you have to purchase your games the better. I wouldn't like to totally go DD, I still like buying games from the shops and owning a physical product.

Aphe makes a good point. With physical games you have the option of trading and making some money off it. While thats not a reason to totally support physical, its one reason I will personally always prefer a physical copy.

physical > digital. Always.

if you lose your connection to the service provider (out of busines for example), for the most part your content is history, and you cant do anything about it (TOS).At the same time if your physical medium connecting you to that particular service fails, you have redownload every bit of information anew. Not only that , but for some reason devs think digital copies should be held to different laws than the same physical copy, ie (cant share legally unless tos says so.) And if you are allowed to share, you are usually restricted to limited amount of people.

digital has many glaring flaws. The most glaring is that going digital only favors the developers,publishers, etc, because they get rid of our bargaining power.

Satellite internet has to be factored in for me too...

Blu-ray format maybe short lived if internet speeds continue to climb to 50mbps and beyond.downloading games and streaming movies in full 1080p and 7.1 surround sound would be wonderful.mark it on your calender guys that day is coming upon us.

Physical all the way

I don't care what anyone says, I just don't feel like I really own something unless I can physically hold it in my hands.

And with digital downloads, they restrict the amount of times you are allowed to download, so for all intents and purposes they are just lending you the damn thing.

Plus, I love my game shelf, all my games stacked up nicely, with my extra goodies from special editions.

When you buy as many games as me, 100+ Steam titles, you can't keep around that many discs.

I'm too damn lazy to put in a disc anyway, double click 4tw.

I don't like the idea of throwing something I paid money for into the wind (i.e. deleting it to save space). I know i can download it again, but with the physical copy, I just have to put it in the tray, and I ALWAYS have it on hand. I know you can buy hard-drives, but that just seems more expensive than it needs to be. If I run out of drive space, I have to invest another 50% of the console's price to store more games. I have enough shelf space to hold a couple hundred more games, probably.

I could maybe accept DD if a console had enough drive space to store all the games i will ever buy for it. But I would also miss the physical copies sitting on my shelf to peruse, and the instruction manuals to look through before I get time to play the game.

I love DD for add-on content, or for small games like PixelJunk Shooter, but for full games, nothing will ever beat the physical copy.

Also, OnLive is ridiculous, in my opinion. Pay a monthly fee for the service, PLUS pay for the right to play individual games. Not to buy them, mind you, you pay a one time fee to essentially lease them because they are stored elsewhere. Feels like double dipping.

Do you know how many peripherals Microsoft over prices, and a portable PlayStation that does just that, a PlayStation in your hands doesn't sell mainly because of the price point At the same time an HDD costing the same price as a console and all it does it is store data sells like hot cakes when you can get the same thing for a fraction of the price?

I'm wondering if Project Natal will be the same price as a console and all it is, is a 3D camera.

I have steam and must admit it has flaws along with certain advantages that I will list.

Pros:
-No CD/DVD to keep up.
-Games are available to any PC.
-Combo Deals.
-Steam keeps track of all your CD keys

Cons
-Valve can ban your account and you lose all your games.
-Trading, selling, or sharing your games or accounts is not permitted. Any accounts caught being shared or sold will be permanently disabled.
-Not appealing to those with slow connections.

The Cons shows how much Valve has authority and power over their customers. So I can understand why having hard copies of games gives them ownership because Valve can easily take away my account with little to reason if they choose.

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.

Is this like the 10th quarter in a row they're down 33% on hardware how is that even mathematically possible. You would think their mediocrity would Plateau
