because of Activision publishing Marvel Ultimate Alliance and supposedly having a monopoly on the use of Marvel characters in games?

The game looks great, I just hope the gameplay stays 2D and doesn't try to take on a Soul Calibur IV-type of gameplay. SSFIV with Marvel characters would be the best way to go (with the obvious six-man tag team fighting system)

Nothing's impossible...a long as it is considered profitable. This has given me hope that news of a Final Fantasy VII remake will surface soon.

Capcom have been very sucessful this generation because they actually listen to their fans.

Square Enix failed hard this generation because Wada refuse to listen to the fans, and all the while, making some of the stupidest decisions. Where's our FF7 Remake or FF7-2?

Okay, I've stopped drooling. Words cannot describe the excitement that that now nestles firmly within my bosom.

Seriously, I just bought Blazblue, and now this. Please don't ruin this. Cast needs to range around 30+ characters, 3 on 3 tag, full six button layout (not that silly TvsC 3 button idea) with unlockables galore.

This game is too important, do NOT screw this up. Take your time, do it right. While I'd have been far more impressed with a 2D hand drawn presentation, this looks good. A more comic approach to SSFIV graphics is OK, just don't make it look exactly the same. A realistic approach to characters makes it unlikely that unrealistic looking characters/anime style will make the cut.

Characters I'd like to see:
Deadpool, Zero, Dante (Virgil?), Zak & Wiki, Mr. Sinister, Pheonix Wright, Thor, Blade, Ghost Rider, Dr Strange, perhaps Ultimate versions of certain Marvel characters, Wesker, battle suit from Lost Planet... there's plenty more but I'm just getting fanboy-ish now :p

I'm sure this will have Lost planet Cast, Finally we'll get to have Monster Hunter Charcters, we'll almost certainly get Zero in a proper vs game. along with X and Dante, Nero and please to GOD who lives in Heaven Give us Virgil as an unlockable, also make it so that Most every character who has some sort of history together have an epic intro, like in blazeblu and GGX2,

This announcement is a monumental one. I cant wait till it releases I'm all over it. i guess the next game under development is SNK Vs Capcom 3 and to me that was a much better and more balanced game than MVC but man this is gonna be good. insane combos New characters and even more brutal supers. Where does it say it looks like SF4? If you look at the end of the trailer you can see Ryu doing his super move which looks a lot like the one from tatsunoko vs. capcom. I think it's gonna be that sort of style. I think I can see Deadpool and dante in the silhouettes in the beginning. Oh yeah Chris Redfield ftw!

Those 2 games ran on their arcade fighter engine while this one clearly said MT Framwork the same powering all of their games since Dead rising till RE5 excluding the street fighter games. this looks like a next gen Tatsunoku fighter which to me is awesome because it's art style was alot better than street fighter 4 even though that game is very beautiful in it's own right.

As for the preview for itself, got me excited. I like the graphics, but I do hope they out do themselves like the 50+ characters from MvsC2, and some nice unlockable artwork, like the original PS2 game.

Well it is Scamcom dont be surprised if they charge for new colors for each character. You know the character you want to most is going to be DLC for atleast $4.99 each.

Capcom has already said we're going to be blown away by the sheer amount of characters on the disk. They know the fan base is already used to the huge roster from MvC2, so that can only mean that the number will match or even surpass.

i've always loved the MvC series.

i have MvC1 for my Dreamcast, and MvC2 downloaded from the PlayStation Network.

i don't know, i guess it's always been something about using Marvel characters against Capcom's rather impressive stable of characters. it never really felt out of place as far as crossovers go.

that, and i LOVED the way they implemented the Marvel character's abilities in the combat. i always thought they were well realized and animated.

if the visual style in the trailer is how the game is going to look, i'm very SLIGHTLY disappointed, because i'd have loved to have seen a super uprezzed sprite look. this new look looks nice though, and i'd have to see it in actual game play to make any proper judgments. i may actually pick this one up.

I absolutely love all of the Marvel vs Capcom, Marvel vs Street Fighter & Xmen vs Street Fighter games!

They brings me back to being a manager at an arcade a looong time ago and having epic battles, events and just plain old fun! I still have all my games ~

MvsSF on PS1
XvsSF on PS1
MvsC on PS1 & DC
MvsC2 on PS2, DC, Xbox & PSN

I have made Arcade controllers from scratch using parts from the arcade I worked at with a Dreamcast/PS controller adapter for double duty on up to modding my most current Official Nuby 15th Anniversary Street Fighter Arcade Stick with a Comp stick, HAPP arcade controls + SixAxiS so I am no longer tied to my PS3 with wires anymore! I really cannot wait for this game!

Though I have to agree with you Fig that the art style has me concerned but if it looks "okay" but plays no different, close to or BETTER to the original, then it won't matter a bit to me. Either way I'm ready now with multiple sticks for me and my friends to have even more matches, battles and again MORE fun! TY! Like I said, it's just a basic stick to do the job for now and was built just before MvC2 dropped. My next one that I will hopefully attack before MvC3 releases will be a total custom case, layout & design. But will still use all HAPP parts because of it's familiarity being that's what's in US arcades and my personal preference.

I love the wireless freedom that using a BT SixAxiS gave me and use it for so much more than just fighters! I also use it for Pinball games as I added 2 side buttons for effect/fun plus use it on PC & one of my PS3's with Linux/TheZeroGameProject for Emulators.

Have you made/worked one out? If so please post some links, I would love to see it!

Unfortunately not yet , but i plan too .

I've got one namco fighting stick ps1 (back from the time of tekken 3 i believe) i'll customize with some art and seimitsu pieces .I also , since it's a ps1 stick , wanna try adding usb or wireless to it . The goal is to make it universal and working for pc , ps3 , 360 . ( at the very least ps3/pc)

It will have to wait for the damn volcano dust over EU to settle anyway .

Then i've got my best friend , an Hori real arcade pro 3 SA , full sanwa . Wich i intend to turn into a light show of sort . Matching color input presses , and for two set of buttons ( the 6 tradtional arcade config buttons , and then the 2 remained L/R) .

I also got yet another ps1 stick , ascii , wich i might try to improve later on .

And maybe , maybe , if i aint broke yet lol , i'll get the new hori during summer .

Anyway i'll be sure to keep in touch and show you some stuff when ready .

mmmmm judging by the teaser it seems this game's using the same engine as Tatsunoko vs Capcom... I'm not liking this, I don't like that art style. And the fact that Capcom 's recycling a Wii engine for HD consoles it really annoys me. =/

Maybe the game's Wii exclusive too?

the engine that it uses is MT framework 2.0.

MT Framework is the engine that is used in RE5, SFIV, Lost Planet, Lost Planet 2, and a few others. its Capcom's Proprietary Engine.

First, This and Resident Evil are two diffrent type of games, second, they took the horrible direction with RE4 and third, just because a character is in, don't mean they going to have all the errors of there game.

Anyway, Since Jill was in MVC2, I think it is a high chance that they won't screw Chris up.

the old ones (for the ones who get scared off of videogames 'Not me') yes they were way scarier, but F that i loved all RE games with 4 being my least fav

the game mechanics are going to be great, it's Capcom here. the most important part of the game will be the character roster. I'm not worried about the Marvel side bcause there are dozens of excellent choices. its the Capcom side that worries me. I don't want it to be dominated by street fighter. i don't want 15 joke characters like in MvC 2. and I hope to God they leave out characters from Capcom's failed or less popular franchises like Lost Planet, Dark Void. the New Bionic Commando.Dead Rising, etc, cause seriously, if they put crap characters in like frank west or some Akrid crap and not put in Leon, Dante, Mike Hagger, or any other worthy characters, then this will be a failure.

personally i never was fan of a few capcom choices . Never saw the point of powerless character such as Jill or frank , and now chris .

Realism shouldnt even be in the picture i know , and they made the like of jill worth playing , but i still cringed at that chris vs hulk sequence .

I can live with it fine ... but given the amount of characters capcom has , i still wish they wouldnt succomb to just including their popular normal joe from shooters and survivals and stick .

Marvel side , not worried , i'll probably regret the absences of a few over the thousand of existing marvel characters , but will in return get lots of favorites

this is great news and it's pretty confirmed they've listened to the fans and won't be using the SFIV design. They'll stay true to the original marvel vs capcom 1 and 2 design updated so more like tatsunoko vs capcom in HD.

as dreamcast owner and all around sega fanboy this is bittersweet as I would have loved to play a new MvC game on a sega console but it's still sweet nonetheless :D

ok Listen guys Im happy that Chris is in it and im for every character from RE series to be in it more the merrier.

Regards to RE5 being a good game I 'Personaly' didnt think It was all that forget about if it was scary or not the fact that it was a over the shoulder view and you could barley see anything but chris's back and the fact that all you was doing was go through lvl by lvl with simple puzzles and enemies rushing at you from all angles did not for me make it a RE game.

It was somehting ellse.

Hence what im saying is I hope Capcom dont make it something ellse like they did with RE5.

But whatever agree or disagree we cant all like same games or have same opinion rite !?

It failed at being an horror game obviously , but worst of all wasnt even a really good action game .

People gave Bionic commando lots of crap (that it deserved) , when resident evil 5 is easily worse in the action department .

People ignored Army of two 1 and 2 , for good reasons , yet RE5 offered a co-op experience that easily fails in comparison ...

People gave RE5 a free pass because of the graphics , and the franchise's name .

To each their opinion of course , but i'm surprise to see someone claim re5 was better than re4 . At least in its new action packed departure , Re4 still tried and succeeded at maintaining a good balance between action and horror , and was good and innovative in both aspects .

Kof xii had enough issues as is , without the need to invent crap about it .
It still had an healthy dose of 22 characters and close to all of them revamped .

Obviously it pales to the serie's tradition , no one would dispute that .

Anyway the early leek about mvc 3 tends toward as many if not more characters in MVC3 than MVC2 .

I'm betting they'd shoot for 100 or close to it , given the amount of character new and left in the marvel universe , and the amount of new characters marvel didnt use for tvc or wanna reuse

u know i was exxagerating but yeah mvc3 shud be awesome aslong as it plays NOTHING like sf4, dang that game is slow, boring, easy, cheap end boss, and no where as good as SF3.

right now blazblue is in my interest, before that was guilty gear and before that was Mvc2. so i guess BB: continuem will be my main game till Mvc3 :).

and plz no saying BB is easy, fight an expert like Imdaboss or a good player like me and a noob wud be owned easy no matter how much he spams something.

Well apparently the same old "where are ma sf3 chars" complaints .

Wich i would have wholeheartly supported , if SF3 had actually been the usual success and more than a youtube "daigo oh my god , can you believe this zh*t!!" sensation , or something only a few of us arcade dwellers back then .

Hell circa 1997 (original sf3) , i mostly heard crap about the new characters being lame , ugly , non charismatic and sometimes even , god forbid , "ghey" (dudley , hugo...) .

Some mostly complained about the lack of the old sf2 cast members .
NAturally what was brought back in the two following sf3 versions ? A few old ones alonside new guys .

Of course now there is a sizeable fanbase for sf3 , but how many of them actually guaranted it's survival by buying the game or putting coins , rather than downloading an iso and freely playing over ggpo ?

Of course there is an obvious commercial angle , but whenever people wanted characters badly in sf4 , some of them actually appears .
Like in this instance a fresh load of revamped sf3 , sf alpha cast members and a few new guys .

Dunno if it's addressed to me , but i never mentioned spam in BB nor it being easy . I happens to be quite into it too from even release day, so dont worry . The last time we spoke about BB , i just mentioned it's imbalance , wich is widely aknowledged , even by its devs . And mostly fixed and getting fixed in Continuum shift .

I wont bother going into details again about sf4's imbalances , when most fighting games also have them and can hardly pretend to be better at it . The rest is a usual here , a few guys who hate it (not even aiming at you here mind you) , and then decided that it was a fact .

PS : having played the arcade CS is fabulous , wich was obvious already

Awesome, This made my day. Now lets hope they don't screw it up. First off they gotta ensure that has all the characters from the first 2 hopefully or at least a roster bigger then 56. 3 vs 3 or take the capcom vs snk 2 route and allow us to either do 3 v 3 2 v 3 or 1 v 3 and such. The graphics remind of tats vs capcom, while I enjoy that I rather have full 2d sprites over 2d/3dish sprites but only time will tell. Hopefully Zero,Bass,Protoman and Phoneix right will be along for the ride on the capcom side not to mention dante. On marvel maybe finally carnage or kingpin or deadpool will finally show up. Oh I also hope they enable dlc character downloads as in they can patch out more characters and alternate customs or better yet give us a sprite editor mode.
