Will It Ever Happen?

Ironstar: "There are a lot of FFVII fanboys and girls out there who absolutely adore re-playing this irrefutable classic. I also know that many of us are shallow and vain, myself included. We've grown used to, if not jaded by, stunning graphics and animation and now it's something we expect from games."

No, I've long given up hope on FFVII HD this gen, I've now firmly accepted that tech demo was not for FFVII but for PS3 and White Engine (Crystal Tools) and we'll never see anything like that again. As nice as it would be, FF VII is in the past and will probably stay there until, probably, the next round of consoles or, more likely, handhelds.

aCHU5915d ago

yea man i agree, ive givin up hope for a FF7 HD next gen release but you know they will make it (or are making it) but like i said and im sure everyone else will agree too when we all say.. WHO FVCKING CARES ANYMORE! .

just make it and release it exclusive to a sony platform and then we can all rejoice, but untill then.. well wutever!.

Bereaver5915d ago

Awww, don't give up. It will happen, but it might still be a while.

But, I have come to the conclusion that it might also not arrive until the next gen for this gen. :p

I’d love to know how many units have been sold of all the Final Fantasy VII franchise games, including the original, the remakes, spin offs such as Crisis Core, and mobile games Ever Crisis. I bet a fair few copies.

Modern day publisher be like: "Failed to meet sales expectations. Pivoting to live service."

It's an absolute legend of a game. And I honestly really love how the remake trilogy is shaping up so far.

If you already own it... There, I saved you the click on a deliberately misleading article.

DivineHand125120d ago

I bought the game yesterday on steam for $4 because Square Enix is trying to replace it with a version that has no mod support.

Prior to yesterday, I had no idea the game had so many great mods until people started making a fuss out of it.

Knightofelemia120d ago

I wish Square would port other old games to newer systems I want Xenogears.

gold_drake120d ago

You can thank FF7 scaring Baldur's Gate 2's director 'S***less' for every RPG since

But BG2 didn't emerge in a vacuum, and in a recent chat with Slandered Gaming it emerged that—while we can thank BG2 for a lot of our favourite RPGs since—we have a whole other game to thank for BG2. That'd be Final Fantasy 7, which lit a fire under BG2 director James Ohlen to go all out with the game's structure and companions, per Trent Oster—who worked on the original Baldur's Gate and has since become CEO of Beamdog, the studio behind the BG1 and BG2 Enhanced Editions.
