3 Studios Sony Should Purchase Next

Yesterday, SEC announced that they have purchased Media Molecule, creators of the Little Big Planet franchise, making them a wholly owned part of Sony Computer Entertainment. There is no question that this was a smart business decision on Sony part. Media Molecule officially became the #7 acquisition in Europe, #17 acquisition overall at Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios. So the question remains, Who's next to join the Playstation family? There are plenty of talented studio's, But these 3 are no question simply phenomenal.

What a poor list.

Both Insomniac and Suckerpunch have good relations with Sony as with with one another (including Naughty Dog).

There is no reason for Sony to acquire either until both decide they'd rather go to other consoles but thats clearly not going to happen anytime soon.

As for Quantic Dream: it is not a bad idea and perhaps worth looking into from Sony: they could easily offer Sony a different type of game for their portfolio as seen by Heavy Rain.

TheColbertinator5847d ago

Sony needs a Western RPG and Japanese RPG developer for thinking ahead.

Without reading this article yet, i have to laugh when i read such titles and comments on Neogaf and PSblog when peple say "Sony should buy Quantic Dream, Level 5 etc" it is as if you go in pet store and buy puppy you like the most, it's ridiculous.
First it's just not that easy, a lot of studios cost a lot of money, or don't wish to be purchased / sold. It's just not that simple.

mabreu5847d ago (Edited 5847d ago )

because Little Big Planet is very original and very well developed. They could use Sony now to help them make another original IP. Maybe a game that will use the motion controls.

LiquifiedArt5847d ago (Edited 5847d ago )

Developers:
- From Software
- Tri-Ace
- Level-5
- Blaz-Blue Studio
- Quantic Dream

Why:
Sony's Studio lineup is filled with great developers, but their portfolio lacks balance in some categories, namely: Fighting, WRPG, JPRG and Interactive Cinema.

I disagree with purchasing these three.Sony should try to purchase Camelot Software,Level 5,Treasure or Obsidian.Any of these 4 would work better for Sony in the long run

SpaceSquirrel5847d ago (Edited 5847d ago )

They should purchase the developer who made Demon's Souls and give them the higher budget for a sequel.

ClickClank5847d ago

From Software developed it, Sony only published it in Japan.

ZombieAutopsy5847d ago

Sonys Japan Studio helped develop Demons Souls, From Software did a majority of it but the Japan Studio did help.

Hakimy5847d ago (Edited 5847d ago )

sony should have acquired Platinum Games when they had the chance.Kamiya,Mikami and Inaba are great developers and at least this way those 3 will get the support they need.imagine Okami was a playstation exclusive.man I would cry for true Okami sequels.but since this means no Bayonetta 2 then I think it will be just a wishful thinking.I strongly believe that sony needs more japanese studios cus it seems that they lack studios there (they only have 2 or 3 i think?),unlike Europe and the US ;)

Edit below: like when Capcom closed Clover studio and these guys left and build their own studio.Sega then signed a deal with them (in other words, took the chance).you could do a little research before posting you know :P

TOO PAWNED5847d ago

Ok when they had chance to do so? Why are you babbling nonsense? Do you work for Sony or Platinum games and know they "had" a chance?
Again, this is not like going into store and buying bag of candies

KrustytheClown5847d ago

i think capcom would be great!

So the most successful RE is the one where a white man is killing Africans.
This can't be real.

At first I was like, No Code Veronica on the list!? But then I seen Mainline. The list checks out, but I would personally put 2 over 4.

KwietStorm_BLM9d ago

I'll take 2 over 4 also. And even without a number, I don't see how Code Veronica, my other favorite in the franchise, isn't mainline when it's the actual sequel to RE2.

Rebel_Scum9d ago

The original RE was the best. Its not on the list which makes no sense.

The remake of it was alright but should be higher on this list.

-Foxtrot9d ago

The original RE smokes VII and Village, come on.
