Here in new Zealand, our dates got reset to Jan 1st 2000.

Can't even play LittleBigPlanet as the level I was working on wont let me edit it - anything downloaded from the PSN store wont work.

Well I do not see anybody rubbishing the ps3 when xbox live goes down.
I would take a step back, and take a look at your comments. I have a friend who claims Sony stuffed up the integration of there premium service upgrade, this is why PSN is down and some games wont work. Makes sense tho and this friend is on this very sight and is a SDF. But still he is in the know and I respect his information. :)

Someone is trying to hack into PSN's main server to steal all of our credit cards info ( Imagine the horror ) and Sony's doing everything in its power to counter or prevent it but was unable to do so.
So Sony had no other choice but to shut the whole thing down to protect us.

Yeah, I watched too many movies

In some of the other articles people commented on how stupid it was that Sony required being online to play games and I'm not sure if that's true. I was playing Dante's Inferno fine offline since my own internet was down and when I logged off and went back on it presented me with that error so this has to be another issue. Also GTA4 worked fine for me as well which was the only other game I tested.

Why is Sony implying that it's PSN related? Consoles that haven't been hooked up to the internet in months are having problems.

Man, I feel like trading in my old PS3 for a slim model. It seems that almost every case that they are completely imune to what happens on PSN.

Went to play God of War Collection last night after researching how to kiss the nyad in the underwater portion of god of war(just press circle close to one of the nyads, I know I'm a moron) kissed the nyad and didn't get the "Splash" trophy. I was like WTF?? Went to check my trophies and all the GOW trophies were gone! Tried to sign into PSN and got the message associated with the issue. This sucks, I'm at work now trusting Sony to fix this by the time I'm home. Pleeeease Sony!

even if Sony issues a patch to fix the issue, since we cannot connect to the PSN, how are we gonna be able to download it? I know everybody is supposed to have a PC, so they could just download it onto a USB key and insert it into their PS3. But if some people's PS3 are not hooked up to the internet, how are they gonna do? Let alone the fact that not everybody has a USB key...???

Let's just hope that this issue will be solved at midnight, with the internal clock automatically correcting the problem, and let's hope I didn't make a mistake by setting the date myself manually...

Nope problems here, 80GB model (2USB ports) I only had some problems yesterday an that was only in the after noon, after that I been playing online with my friends on MAG and Boarderlands and just got the new Sonic racing game for me an my gf to play.

Oh joy is like the firmware issues of 2.40 and 3.00 all over again. Relax Sony fixes its issues in less than a week.

So for me all of my arcade games are now demos and I get the same error (8001050f) as all the rest. What I noticed is that I was able to download an update for Elefunk and download Life with PS3 ad on with no problem. I could read the news and see the weather. Also after I created a new account it allowed me to have limited access to PSN store, but did not actually allow me to download. (Popped up the code when I tried). So there seems to be some connection.

I am one of the people that are having trouble getting access to psn and all of my down-loadable psn games except gravity crash and blast factor is in demo mode instead of the full game+extra's that I paid for. What I am wondering is if sony ever decides to discontinue this service(psn) for ps3 owners what will happen to all those downloadable psn games that I paid for? are they just going to no longer work because sony decides to not support ps3 in the future(I am not talking about the online feature to the down-loadable psn games I am talking about the single player mode), If this is so I will be very mad at them if this does indeed happen because I thought that after I purchased a down-loadable psn game(s) I am entitled to them for as long as I want regardless of whether sony chooses to support the psn game(s)(or the ps3) or not in the future, I certainly hope that this is not the case.

Me too. This has also convinced me that I should buy a slim and box up my 60gb jap launch machine after transfering the data. I was planning on buying another HD and an external one to do the transfer might aswell buy a 250 gb. I was worried because of the murmors of it being a hardware fault. This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.
