I think that is the simple answer.

FishCake9T45975d ago

You never know, Halo 4 anyone? Lol. To be honest though im sure if its an FPS and its not exclusive it will sell so well there wont be a number for it.

MisterNiwa5975d ago

Imagine this guys.

Naughty Dog x Bungie
Playstation 3 Exclusive

Now your imput. Agree if you like it Disagree if you are some random fanboy.

Greywulf5975d ago (Edited 5975d ago )

I'd rather see Naughty dog & Zipper if we are talkin FPS.

Would be an amazing fps, pushing the boundaries of gaming as we know it. Visually & Gameplay wise. FPS gameplay is pretty generic, so you cant expect much evolution.

GG could help out too... with their FPS cover system.

Bungie is a good dev, sure. But as Naughty Dog brings a second to none sense of polished gameplay/presentation/animatio n/lighting/post processing.. what does bungie bring thats unique to bungie? That Valve/ID didn't do before it?

Shang-Long5975d ago

Bungie is a good developer love or hate halo you gotta admit that.and I don't even like halo myself.
But I mean there's a chance they could develo a game on ps3 ppl said FF wouldn't be on the 360 and it is. So anything can happen right.

IMO I see that MS only wants halo from bungie. While Sony would give them the freedom to do whatever game they want

captain-obvious5975d ago (Edited 5975d ago )

Wrong post

on topic
thay where made by MS
they are not going anywhere

RedDragan5975d ago

Question: Would Bungie develope for PS3?

Answer: Yes, they are a company afterall. And companies are in it for the money, nothing else!

Question: Would they make Halo for PS3?

Answer: No, that is owned by Microsoft. If Bungie refused to do anymore, Microsoft would simply get someone else in to do it, which they are doing!

Question: Will Microsoft buy Bungie?

Answer: Unlikely. Microsoft prefers to do business with 3rd party developers as there are less risk involved.

Saaking5975d ago

They're tied too much with MS. It's like Insomniac's relationship with Sony. An exclusive PS3 Bungie game will never happen.

Furthermore, the PS3 already has many fantastic developers. We don't need Bungie.

MisterNiwa5975d ago

Ok.. then what about..

Naughty Dog x Kojima Productions
Playstation 3 Exclusive

Same rules as above...

gaffyh5975d ago

@MisterNiwa - That won't happen either because Kojima likes to take control of his own projects, and Naughty Dog have no management system, they just go with the flow. Both developers are great, but I doubt they would work together for anything more than a bit of DLC.

evilmonkey5015975d ago (Edited 5975d ago )

A couple of years ago ms dissolved or terminated all but 3 of its first party studios. They think to leave it almost ALL up to third party developers and maybe buy up an ip they see making them money. With the majority of third party studios going multiplatform for more profit, I just don't see how Microsoft can do this long term.Sony has at least 6 or 7 exclusives coming out for the ps3 per year from a few of its 25+ first party studios.

As far as Bungie making a ps3 game, eventually it will happen. Will it be any good? I dunno.I don't much care for Halo...too simple and the graphics really suck compared to other studios.

barom5975d ago

Losing Bungie would be the a big blow to Microsoft, if not the biggest. So I doubt Microsoft would let it happen, they would grant Bungie whatever they wish for. I think Bungie is just playing around just to keep everyone watching them.

StanLee5975d ago

Bungie's new project wont be in the Halo Universe and as I understand it, the project doesn't yet have a publisher. If a major publisher picks up the game and puts money into the project, expect it to be multiplatform.

MisterNiwa5975d ago

How about

Sony Santa Monica Studios x Naughty Dog

!?!?!?!?!

Goddamn, i hate this Bubble System.

StanLee5975d ago (Edited 5975d ago )

It's not a long term strategy. It's about the lowest cost to software output in the current climate. Listen to Jason Rubin on Bonus Round again and really listen to what he says; publishers right now can't meet the overhead that comes with having internal studios. It's just not feasible in this climate and it's why there are layoffs and studio closures. Microsoft looked at a short term strategy to be most profitable now. In the future, don't be surprised if they move completely away from core gaming because their real goal is home entertainment and creating a central media space in consumer homes.

vhero5975d ago

Bungie could make PS3 games but don't expect Halo games as they are a partially MS owned IP. Also Bungie have never made a none Halo game can they? Time will tell..

oli5975d ago

wer is that guy bungie, here on n4g, to answer us these Q's??
he comments on a bunch of other stupid articles, so y not this one

exnihilonihilfit5975d ago

Bungie was not created by Microsoft.

Microsoft did buy Bungie, but then Bungie bought itself back.

In the split Microsoft retained control of the Halo IP, meaning Halo will never come out for a non-Microsoft platform, and MS can have any other developer work on the title.

Bungie has made other games than Halo, on other platforms than Microsoft: Oni[PS2], Marathon[Mac], Myth[Mac].

Microsoft is rumored to have a "right of first refusal" for publishing Bungie games. This means that if Bungie puts out a game, MS gets to publish it unless they decide not to. The only reason they might not is if Bungie intends the game to be multiplat or if MS just doesn't like the game. This does not mean that bungie cannot or will not develop for another platform. I haven't actually been able to verify that they do indeed have this right, but it has been reported by at least one site.

Bungie is more likely to go multiplat than PS3 exclusive. What they may do is lead on the PS3 to really work out the kinks in their development from the system.

van-essa5975d ago (Edited 5975d ago )

Bungie is a private company, they could as well make a PS3, Wii, X360... game if they wanted.

They left Microsoft, because they wanted to turn Bungie into a "Halo factory" and were too "stingy with the profits".

JasonPC360PS3Wii5975d ago

Not going to happen, it's fun to dream and say "what if" but at the end of the day they are still just dreams and what ifs.

hazardman5975d ago

Obviously we know it can't be a Halo game as MS owns that IP, but it can be something new. Now that they went the independent way it would be great for them to develop on other platforms as well, but I have a feeling that what ever they're working on will be exclusive to one of the consoles..You gotta remember MS published the Halo games..Can Bungie make and publish their own games??..There are other BIG independent developers saying its getting harder and harder staying independent..well either way. I'll be looking forward to Bungie's new project.

darthv725975d ago

a new version of Oni for PSN.

IHateYouFanboys5975d ago

you fanboys just dont get it, so ill spell it out yet again:

1. Microsoft own Halo 100%. you will NEVER see a halo game on a non-Microsoft platform unless Microsoft choose to make it on another platform. the only way that would happen is if the xbox division goes under.

2. Bungie were first party, but are now third party TECHNICALLY. in reality, its more like second party (think insomniac in regards to sony). they get to do what they want game wise, make whatever they want, hire whoever they want, fire whoever they want, do their own financials...........but they still have very tight ties to Microsoft, and have an exclusive publishing agreement with Microsoft for Halo and ALL future Bungie titles. this isnt some rumour, it was clearly stated by both Bungie and Microsoft when the split occurred. dont believe me? have a read:

http://kotaku.com/307565/bu...

Bungie: "Bungie has long been built on creativity, originality and the freedom to pursue ideas. Microsoft agreed, and rather than stifle our imagination, they decided it was in both our best interests to unleash it. We'll continue to make Xbox 360 games, and we'll continue to make amazing games for MGS. In that regard, nothing has changed. All that has changed is that now Bungie Studios is once again, the property of the folks of Bungie Studios. Microsoft is and will continue to be, a brilliant, inventive and creatively collaborative publishing partner. Practically speaking, nothing has changed and you guys won't see much, if any difference, for a while unless you come to work for us, that is - we're hiring at http://www.bungie.net/insid...

"This exciting evolution of our relationship with Microsoft will enable us to expand both creatively and organizationally in our mission to create world-class games," said Harold Ryan, studio head for Bungie. "We will continue to develop with our primary focus on Microsoft® platforms; we greatly value our mutually prosperous relationship with our publisher, Microsoft Game Studios; and we look forward to continuing that affiliation through 'Halo' and beyond."

Microsoft: ""Our collaboration with Bungie has resulted in 'Halo' becoming an enduring mainstream hit," said Shane Kim, corporate vice president of Microsoft Game Studios. "While we are supporting Bungie's desire to return to its independent roots, we will continue to invest in our 'Halo' entertainment property with Bungie and other partners, such as Peter Jackson, on a new interactive series set in the 'Halo' universe. We look forward to great success with Bungie as our long-term relationship continues to evolve through 'Halo'-related titles and new IP created by Bungie.""

now as you can see, both Bungie and Microsoft confirm in their official press releases that nothing really is changing, and that Microsoft Game Studios will continue to be their exclusive publisher for Halo and new IPs created by Bungie.

so can we PLEASE stop with the 'Bungie are third party they can make games for whoever they want' crys, and the 'Halo will come to PS3' rubbish? its not happening.

Foliage5975d ago

This would be the end of Bungie. They are a below average developer, that has been hyped up to a very large extent. The second Bungie releases a PS3 title, the media will no longer BS about the cruddy Bungie games being any where near how much they hyped them.

Look at every "exclusive" lost from the 360. All the fanboy hype died out real quick once they appeared on the PS3. I'm not talking about the PS3 version, suddenly the 360 version "wasn't very good any way" or "was over-rated".

Everyone knows this, even those that do not want to admit it.

badz1495975d ago

heck even anyone is good! but for what? so that we can have another batch of generic FPS? no offense to Halo fans but I'm not a big fan of halo myself (Halo CE was quite good IMO) but when Bungie starts making other games, then we'll start talking. at the moment, by the look of it, they are pretty much tied up to M$ albeit being independent!

mastiffchild5975d ago

Well, that's pretty non-committal. However, there are two points to consider aside from the closeness of their relationship with MS and the fact they also, as far as we know, have first refusal on every project atm.

1, Just why buy some independence if they only want to work on the 360?

2,IF, and it's a big, big IF, they are making a game for the Sony platform would it possibly be a multiplat? I say this because surely MS have said no to the idea if it is being developed for another platform,no?

I guess MS may have a deal where if they like a Bungie, non-Halo idea they also step in and fund/part fund the whole shebang and may, if they say "no" to this allow it to go multiplat but the understanding I had was that they'd probably only do this if they felt the game idea didn't fit their platform's demographic and under those circumstances would Bungie really push to develop it for both? I'm not saying this hypothetical project WOULD end up PS3 exclusive under such circumstances but it bears thinking about under the complexity of the possible outcomes.

However, with the Bungie name held in such high esteem among 360 owners I feel pretty sure that unless the game looked really niche MS would be foolish to leave it, even partly, for Sony who could, surely, when MS pass up an idea step in and part fund a project themselves as they're known to do with more risky titles this gen like they have with HR and MAG only this year. Neither were, or could ever be imagined to be, anything other than risks and are certainly less than mainstream titles. It's intriguing to consider but ultimately unlikely to happen-at least not for a good while, imo, even if it IS hard to see exactly why Bungie bought themselves out of MS at all if outside platforms aren't a consideration for them.

We'll see but PS3 owners would be best not reading too much into this in my honest opinion.

RememberThe3575975d ago (Edited 5975d ago )

LOL That's is hilarious! Lots of random fanboys on this site.

Bubbles form me man, that was brilliant.

Shepherd 2145975d ago

Bungie's game, Halo: Combat Evolved:

-was the first FPS to use the two weapon system, in which the player was forced to carry only two weapons. Other games followed.

-was the first FPS to introduce regenerating health(shields), something most FPS use today

-was the first FPS to nail great controls on a console.

Bungie's Halo 2:

-Created the lobby system that is used in most games with a matchmaking feature, such as the Call of Duty series.

-Like it or hate it, Halo 2 is the game that propelled console online play and brought it into the mainstream.

Bungie's Halo 3:

-introduced File Sharing, which allows players to share their created maps from the map editor, their screenshots, and their film clips. What makes this stand out is that almost three years after Halo 3's launch, no other game on consoles have implemented a File Sharing system, let alone one as robust as Halo 3's. Time and time again when i play other FPS's, i wish i could have taken a screenshot or film clip of the crazy thing that just took place, but i cant. Halo fills this void for me, and its life is expanded extremely far because of the features that flesh out the core gameplay.

beardpapa5975d ago

@exnihilonihilfit

Myth was on the PC too. I played both on PC and absolutely loved Oni. I think Bungie should create another myth rts. At least do it for the fans of the game.

FamilyGuy5975d ago

Maybe they're having meetings with sony so they can't outright deny it. It's strange because sonys 3rd party devs will tell you right away "nuh-uh" or "nope".

pixelsword5975d ago (Edited 5975d ago )

It's hard to state a fact based upon no words spoken. I don't see anywhere where there's an explicit admission of either "right of first refusal" or a multiplatform game.

Even that statement crabby posted:

"Microsoft will retain an unstated equity interest in Bungie, and will continue a publishing agreement between the developer and Microsoft Game Studios for Halo intellectual property as well as other future properties developed by Bungie – corroborating reports that Microsoft will hold the “first right of refusal” for an unknown number of titles."

Still does not say "first right of refusal" until the writer says so; all it says is that:

"Microsoft will retain an unstated equity interest in Bungie, and will continue a publishing agreement between the developer and Microsoft Game Studios for Halo intellectual property as well as other future properties developed by Bungie"

Reports aren't necessarily facts. Reports are also retold accounts of events based upon facts and but in and of itself may not be factual. Because there "were reports" of the "first right of refusal" instead of a direct statement from either party makes the report of "first right of refusal" believable, but not factual.

It'll all have to wait until something is announced; everything else is speculation.

Djinn5975d ago (Edited 5975d ago )

I couldn't care less if Bungie developed for the PS3. I don't need anymore mediocre space marine FPSs.

madpuppy5974d ago

Is afraid of upsetting Microsoft.

thesummerofgeorge5974d ago

Cause if they can, they obviously would. But if not, I don't buy the "they're too close with MS" argument, cause anything can happen when money is involved, look at what happened to the FF series, it was synonymous with the PS brand, and now it's a multiplat.

I think Halo is best left on the 360, just like I thought FF was best left on the PS. When money starts influencing changes the games suffer. Plus it's good for each company to have some big name exclusives, those are the games that force the other guy to come up with something bigger and better.

IHateYouFanboys5974d ago

im sorry, but did some of you guys not even bother reading the quotes in my post? i see 5 of you disagreed - although im not sure how someone can disagree with a quote from a formal press release from both parties in the Bungie/Microsoft split? suppose it just shows that fanboys will disagree with everything that proves them wrong.

Microsoft and Bungie have both specifically said that there is a publishing agreement between the 2 companies for Bungie made Halo products and all new Bungie IPs. this is clearly stated in the press releases, theres no room for debate.

also, the Halo IP is fully owned by Microsoft. this isnt a rumour or a 'maybe', it is a well known fact. its like how Sony own the God of War IP, or how Microsoft own the Forza IP. Microsoft OWNS Halo, and Bungie CAN NOT release a Halo game on PS3. The ONLY way a Halo game can get on PS3 is if Microsoft ALLOW a developer OF THEIR CHOICE to make a Halo game on the PS3. Thats what happens when you own something - you get to pick and choose what happens with it.

Looks like those tired of Halo, might have to jump ship to see anything else from Bungie

RealityCheck5975d ago

It's highly doubtful, if anything I could see them already working on a near launch title for the next Xbox console which would explain why they can't say much.

MajesticBeast5975d ago

What does the next xbox have to do with the ps3 game rumour.

RealityCheck5975d ago

@3.1 The article says that beside the team working on Reach, that they have a second team working on the groundwork of another project but they can't say anything about it. People have been jumping to the conclusion that this could be a PS3 game. I'm just saying that if I were MS, I would be paying Bungie to work on a game for the next console already and launch with a bang.

RememberThe3575975d ago

Reach would be the first of those games and this next one would be the second. I don't expect seeing a Bungie game on the PS3 for a while.

xaviertooth5975d ago

it's coming bots. your priceless developer is going ps3.

look, just because MS stole a bunch of exclusives from sony, doent mean MS will be as stupid as sony.

anyway..why would bungie want to put a game on the bs3?they wouldnt make money for years.even if they did,it would be a poor port from an xbox game.how long would it take for bungie to learn how to develop on the ps3?years!!

ps.. ps3 owners dont buy games

Correction: M$ dstole a bunch of third party games not first party!!!!!111! And games like FF and DMC will always sell better on the PS3 anyway. =P

I don't see Guerrilla game's Killzone games, Sony Santa Monica's God of War nor Insomniac's Ratchet & Clank making games for the X360!

So who's more stupid now? M$ for letting their best first party developer go multiplat (even though they have very few of them =|) or Sony for letting third party exclusives go multiplat while strengthen their first paty devs?

Come on bot! TELL ME!!11! 0_o

TheXgamerLive5975d ago (Edited 5975d ago )

not gonna happen, unless they one day do a new IP and it's multiplatform and even then i dought it would ever happen, just as naughty dog won't ever be an Xbox 360 dev. Bungie is basically a miscrosoft developer, so stop the lies and move on.

Ilikegames765975d ago

awesomeperson5975d ago

"just as naughty dog won't ever be an Xbox 360 dev. Bungie is basically a miscrosoft developer"

Theres a difference. The dogs are owned by Sony and are first party. Did you read the article "Since separating from Microsoft in 2007, the firm is free to develop on multiple platforms " by that I do not think that Bungie are basically a microsoft developer at all, sure they develop for MS, but things can change :P

neutralgamer199275d ago

S2Killinit

live service failures, chasing trends, closing studios. yes dominating

Cacabunga75d ago

Sony is Dominating because competition is not existing. Compared to previous gens this is the poorest in terms of software offerings.

Last gen we got Uncharted 4 Lost Legacy and TLOU2 from ND alone.

This is so far a remasters gen, with no competition to lift up the quality

1nsomniac75d ago (Edited 75d ago )

..."PlayStation is dominating on every level"....

...Really???

PlayStation are soon heading into a new generation in the not to distant future. They currently have the worst customer satisfaction they've ever sustained as a company. The company is heading for a huge crash while at the same time they'll need to be planning how they are going to try and win back that favour and the build up to their new releases.

Yes financially they're winning but they're going to have to ride out this complete public corporate disaster. No one has faith in the company or the product anymore. They've damaged their public image so much this generation. Greed can kill anyone.

Because Elite creates the narrative and distraction for gamers, users and citizens.

Outside_ofthe_Box76d ago

More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.

robtion75d ago

Yep. Yoshida was responsible for bringing one of the best games of this generation to playstation (Stellar Blade). He is an actual gamer and is in touch with what gamers want (creative, fun games, not GaaS and agenda pushing). He also seems like a genuinely nice guy if you watch some interviews. Of course they got rid of him.

darthv7276d ago
