Is it a bad game as it is? No, but it's not great. It could have been great, but a reliance on a gimmicky mechanic sours the overall experience. For $16.99, it's hard to recommend this over other similarly priced offerings, like the recently released Torchlight. If you're itching for a platforming then give the demo a try, but realize that what you see there is more or less all you're going to get.
Anthony Bate says: "Emberwind was breathed into creation by Swedish indie developer Timetrap, although not originally for the iOS. This title first saw light on the PC back in January 2010. The title received a modicum of success, lauded for its fantastic art style with a good old fashioned retro feel to the game mechanics."

Chillingo has announced the arrival of three new games for iOS formats this week: defeat a gremlin threat in the epic adventure game Emberwind, serve up some spicy Mexican cuisine in the time management game Taco Master, and outrun a tumbling snowball in the comical endless running game, Snowball Run. All three titles are available to download from Apple’s App Store now.
