IGN Blue Dragon preview

June 4, 2007 - We here at IGN recently got our hands on a copy of an English subtitled copy of Blue Dragon. While it doesn't have the English voice acting that the US version will sport (along with the option to listen to the original Japanese dialogue), reading subtitles was enough for us to dive right in and start our coverage. Now that we've made it about 20 hours into the epic, we're back with more impressions and info.

They really hated this game it seems. I mean they had nothing good to say about the game besides that it looked pretty. Was a really harsh preview.

TruthHurts6931d ago

all i gotta say.
after that preview wait for a review before considering buying that game. i haven`t heard that "bad sounding" of a preview in a while.

Odion6931d ago

well considering it got like a 48/50 in Japan i am not worried I am buying this day one to have a little old school fun

Honeal2g6930d ago

some people dont appreciate games like this (or its just not there thing w.e the case may be) i will admitt that this style of game may be boring to many but i love turn based battle systems and world map traviling and i wish they never changed that in Final Fantasy ...i mean look at ff12 some ppl say its a good game once u get into it but look at its sales compared to like ffx (which owned btw) but still its all opinion and i cant wait for this game.

drtysouf216931d ago

so i rent all games at gamefly before i decide to purchase but this is the game i've been looking forward to on my 360 i'm a big fan of RPG games so i really hope it doesn't disappoint.

TruthHurts6931d ago

if a game gets a 1-3/10 you most likely would even check it out.
i know what your sayin but in some cases, a bad game is a bad game.
i`m not sayin its like that for this.

DarkestHour006931d ago

I have ALWAYS felt IGN is rough on alot of 360 things(not flaming just how I feel) but I am looking very forward to this game.

I've been wanted to revisit the game in the back of my mind for years and this is big. There's still a good handful of 360 games locked to the system I'd love to see now that the seal is broken on decompiling these games.

What these games need are remasters and to modern platforms. They're all unfortunately stuck on the 360.

MrBaskerville237d ago

They are available on series x as well. But would be nice to get them out even wider.

babadivad237d ago

You can play them on console. I have them loaded on my machine.

MrNinosan237d ago

Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon and FFXIII Trilogy is actually the only reason I still have my Series X.

Terry_B238d ago

Hey Phil..Why didn't remasters and pc ports happen many years ago already?

ABizzel1237d ago

Because Phil and team seem to enjoy going to websites and forums to see what fans are discussing and wanting, to earn good faith points with post like this while they continue to offer the bare minimum.

TheEroica237d ago (Edited 237d ago )

Remastered and remake games are lame... A gigantic "we don't know how to evolve original thoughts" from dev teams cashing in on old ip.... Make new stuff or gtfo.

neutralgamer1992236d ago (Edited 236d ago )

no remasters and remakes provide those games to new audiences and improve the look/gameplay

Michiel1989237d ago

you can't revive what never lived

-Foxtrot238d ago

Then…remaster / remake them

🤷🏻‍♂️

After renewed interest you can get Mistwalker to do a sequel to Lost Odyssey

jambola237d ago

Poor Microsoft could never scrape together funds to make that happen

babadivad237d ago

Is Mistwalker still a studio?

One of the best of that era. Great game, great adventure!

Kurisu993d ago

I bought this game a couple of days ago, along with Lost Odyssey, while they're on sale in the Xbox Store. I never had a 360 back in the day so I missed out on these games, so I'm glad that I'll finally be able to try them out soon on my Series S.

raWfodog993d ago

Yep, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, and Gears of War were my favorite 360 games back when they first released.

Seraphim992d ago

no doubt. To this day it baffles me when this game gets hate. Sure it wasn't as epic as Lost Odyssey, but in it's own right it was a great game.

MrNinosan993d ago

Lost Odyssey is one of the best jrpgs of that era but got killed because it was bought up and released on the "wrong" console.

repsahj992d ago

Is there a chance that Lost Odyssey will be released on PS5? I really want to play it and Blue Dragon, too.

autobotdan992d ago

Both games are owned by Microsoft

andy85993d ago

Great game. The 360 had some really good turn based games back in the day. Absolutely loved Lost Odyssey too. I think they are both Sakaguchi creations.

ZwVw993d ago

Correction. Both Blue Dragon & Lost Odyssey (as well as Infinite Undiscovery) started off as in-house developed projects that went third party after MS killed off their Japanese development studios.

andy85993d ago

Doesn't really have anything to do with what I said though 😂 Sakaguchi wrote them both

Hofstaderman993d ago

This game together with Lost Odyssey, The Last Remenant and Tales of Vesperia convinced me to buy a 360. This game made my 2007 which ended off with mass effect.

CrimsonWing69993d ago

Honestly, a fantastic game, especially if you were a fan of old-school JRPGs. I hate that this genre rarely can come back to these roots.
