yeah I'm happy as well that sony finally settled the lawsuit and found the "cost restrait" not all there when adding motion controls and rumble.

What can you do. Some will say yea! Some will laugh, and some will just shoot their mouth off about this. In the end it's PS3 owners who get the real deal and finally get our rumble back ^^

PS: Sony has been a very generous company in the past, there is a chance that they will allow "trade in" of the original controller for rumble controller.

You know...the whole "people that don't like rumble are in denial" argument is just as stale as the "we don't need rumble!" one...

I disagree with your comparison in that losing rumble is not equivalent to losing a button, as buttons/motion sensing are the interface with your machine...while rumble is not.

I'd say it's more akin to having an optical mouse and then purchasing the updated version which would(comparative to Sony's SIXAXIS, anyway) a ball mouse. You don't lose anything in terms of interfacing with your computer...you just lose the optical capability. For the record, I do prefer optical mice myself, but I know that there are those who prefer ball-mice...and some that even like trackballs. The same applies with controllers, so you can't simply assume that everyone who isn't pro-rumble is in denial.

Personally, I've never really been an advocate of rumble. I thought it was interesting(mainly because it was new) when it debuted on the N64, but afterwards it just bothered me, so in games where the rumble was excessive(from my perspective anyway), I would turn it off.

With that said, I think it should make a return simply because if you don't like it, you can turn it off. It seems that there are too many gamers that do enjoy rumble for it to NOT be there, and when the alternative is as simple as changing an option in a menu...everyone can be happy that way.

Sorry for the long winded post, but I just wanted to demonstrate that there are some people out there who just genuinely don't care for force-feedback.

Look people rumble is controlled by software. Basically all PS3 owners will only have to buy new controllers not new gaming systems. Now if they can only provdide updates for games that are already out to include rumble.

You know how 'HAWT' will GT5 play now...also that its a great addition to face-off PS3-hating press who was thinking that: "yeah, we'll cut some numbers down from PS3 game-reviews by saying that the experience was low due to lack of rumble", well they can't do it now HaHaHa !!!

Well I plan on buying a PS3. I hope these controllers become standard. Also, I'm waiting to see what happens with this possible 80GB version. Seems to me that Sony is making as many changes as MS and adding rumble which should have been there from the start. Sure if you want rumble badly enough and own a PS3 than the cost for more controllers is minimal, but don't go complaining that XBL costs money then. For two controllers you can buy 2 years of Live.

comparing costs of controllers to xbox live is jst silly. Its not absolutely necessary to purchase this controller to play games whereas its necessary to pay to play online but i don't have time to break it down for you. All i got to say is please have rumble code in heavenly

Good to see Sony's eating their words on rumble.
Of course, all the execs (including Harrison) are trying to pretend they knew rumble was critical and that it would make a return and all. I'd almost be willing to bet they'll even release one of their now-famous statements soon where they'll try to claim they invented rumble before anyone else anyway. (see also: motion control, wii sports bowling, 2 SKUs, having a hard drive in a home console... all things tehy lambasted on other consoles but then claimed they had always been thinking about later on).

As said, if you don't like rumble, don't buy it and/or turn it off.
Here's to hoping they don't require rumble controllers or anything crazy like that.

I don't know if any of you recall when playstation was releases in had a standard controller. Then a "dual analog" was available. Then a "dual shock" was available. Along came PS2 and the "dual shock 2" was revealed. So rumble is not last gen its like ancient. Given the option though I would rather have it. I have been a fan of the PS controllers along the way. So if they are making my favorite controller better all I can say is hell yeah. Also, if XBOX 360 comes out with a motion sensor in the controller so what. I like the XBOX 360 controller and would not give MS crap for including it. Things need to evolve.

If Sony uses the Next gen rumble I have no problems with it, but if it's just standard rumble (which I think is improbable) then I won't buy it.

I'm not in any way worried about battery life because the PS3 controller has a built in charger out of box, no add-on needed.

Now it will have both a last gen feature (rumble) and a new gen feature(tilt) while other controllers just sit at last gen features... Welcome to the greatest controller on earth (IMO)

Sony and Immersion will most likely be using a NEW rumble technology called Touchsense! LOOK IT UP!!! It's been in countless news stories and it's NEW!!! The rumble that the Wii and X360 have is not the same as TouchSense. The old rumble is last gen. TouchSense isn't! Sheesh!

Just before the rumble comes out i plan to sell both my controllers if there is no trade in deal. That way i can get rid of them before the value depreciates

I just wanted to say what did u expect them to say? they wanted to highlight the motion-sensing since they were in a law-suit with immersion. yeah i have to admit i was one of the people that said it's not needed. So what-i'm still having tons of fun on resistance online-.It was still missed though regardless. What u want us to be sad that we're getting advance rumble and motion-sensing?

I am quite confused. I remember just last year Sony stating that rumble was a last gen feature and not needed for the movie theatre that is PS3 gaming. What is even more amusing is that Sony also stated that it wasn't even possible to impliment rumble and motion control in the six axis. How can you people defend a company that lies straight through its teeth to you. I am not a fanboy I just don't like being deceived. Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you that Ken Kutaragi told me the world is really flat, and also that the if you click your heels three times and say "there is no place like home" you will be magically transported in 4D to the virtual reality in playstation home. I only have 2 more questions....1} where are my Toy Story like graphics promised from the "Emotion Engine"?......and how many extra hours do I have to work to get this rumble feature....I have to discuss it with my boss or perhaps I can just work through my vacation. I'm actually getting used to not having rumble. The life of these controllers is AMAZING! I can weeks without having to hook it back up via USB for a charge, and the more I think about it, the less I want something that will drain the life probably twice as fast and reduce the life of the battery.

Yea i have gotten used to em too but when i go back and play madded on 360 i wish my madded on ps3 had it 2. The touchsense thing would be nice but i doubt it will be blowing any1 out of the water.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.
