I don't know him personally so I can't speak to how we would react to one another, but I absolutely despise his business practices and publishing philosophy.

Let's just recount what he's done lately:

-Drop several new IP's, then sues to try and get them back once they pick up hype (Ghostbusters and Brutal Legend)
-Threaten a major platform holder to drop price, needlessly since Kotick knew a price drop was coming
-State that he would not back any game that wasn't capable of producing a sequel
-Raise the price of MW2 in Britain because he knows he can
-Run the Tony Hawk games into the ground with sequels
-Currently running the Hero franchises into the ground with sequels and quick cash-ins
-Extorting money from consumers by packaging games with peripherals
-Creating an atmosphere of pessimism within his own developers and trying to take the fun out of game development(self admitted)

Kotick is the D*ck Cheney of game publishers in my opinion.

Even with all this well known information. Watch as kids flock to get CODMW2, lol. This guy could say you are a piece of crap to your face and kids would still go buy his game. He loves you because you are making him ultra rich. Yet, it's proven time and time again that he doesn't care about you as a consumer. Now go buy my game you little bastards! I realize that the matter of money is essential to the maintaining and survival of video games altogether, but does that neccesitate becoming a contender for "Biggest Douche in the Universe"? I seriously think Kotick has what it takes to unseat John Edward for this coveted title.

All the while, I realize that he has investors that expect results, but to instill fear and lack of vision into his employees is simply unwarranted and unforgivable.

There's very few times I try to get into this kind of pseudo-anticorporationism type of attitude, but I seriously think I'll be thinking twice before I buy another Activison game.

Over-price sub-HD gaming in a HD era of consoles. Nah nothing wrong with that. Microsoft is doing that with a over-priced sub-HD expansion pack.

It only hurts the gamers in the long run and we are the ones that put these people up there.

I remember EA being this way and still is with the NFL license. However for me Activision will be known for milking their franchises this gen.

I love games and i understand that all he cares about is making tons of money. But i care about cool, interesing, innovative games, not sequels of sequels.

The only Activision game im waiting for now is Diablo 3

pray other game developers dont succumb to the $. This is sad news, of course making money is the key fundamental in being able to continue to make games but you got to be in the industry with a passion to truly push the boundaries of imagination to really shine in this market.

Konami, team ico, bungee, naughty dog etc where would we be if devs didn't strive to better themselves rather than constantly push product as fast as possible for max profit?

There is a certain awe that I develop for games that are slow in the burners, i am loosing my mind waiting for 'the last guardian' I cant wait for Halo Reach GT5 FFXIII mario galaxy 2. Theses are the devs that set the standard that other devs should follow. Kotic is the devil.

I really hope that he will eventually have to eat crow and change his policies. Tony Hawk was once great and look where the milking has left that franchise. The industry has shown that while people will continuously buy the same crap year in and year out they have also shown that they will ultimately get fed up (far longer than it should take). It may take a while but there will eventually be a time when the utters of the Hero series are empty. Now if we could only liberate IW from this overlord.

Activision, like all companies, exists to make a profit and nothing else. It just so happens that Activision makes video games. If they could somehow make a larger profit by selling toilet paper, they would.

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.
