the comparison between girls and black poeple (like me) was un called for, and very offensive.

to be perfectly honest, both of my sisters bought lilac psp's so obviusly their maketing strategy works. i dont know about the bi*** that wrote this article but girls are eating the hana montana montana lilac psp thing up!

would she rather their advertizements say???? "be a guy, buy a psp" advertising to females is tricky, and i believe that the "omg girls play too" is the best choice!!!

ihaten4glol6133d ago (Edited 6133d ago )

Yeah, the ads should probably say ???? "be a guy, buy a psp" instead, those are good suggestions.

tigresa6133d ago

Okay "TROLL"IMITE. I guess wimmenz r ppl tew. Just cause it's purple doesn't change the fact that it does the same function. Some girls just don't like being associated with the culture that is behind gaming and a new color won't change that. Especially towards buying an expensive product.

ihaten4glol6133d ago (Edited 6133d ago )

I don't know about the nigga that wrote that comment but I AM VERY OFFINDIDZDZDZZZ

Serg6133d ago (Edited 6133d ago )

Well it has proven itself over and over that a lot of girls have a thing for the color, I have two sisters, twins, one has a pink laptop, the other one doesn't go near that, quote: "Buttugly piece of crap".

My girlfriend isn't fond of the color either, but she loves anything red. I even had to return the silver PSP I imported from the UK for her (I'm from Germany) because she found out about the red, God of War PSP. She likes the PSP and plays on it regularly, but I would have a hard time getting her to pick up a PS3 controller.

I am sure that 99% of all men wouldn't buy a lilac PSP for themself, so marketing it to women only makes sense.

Trollimite6133d ago (Edited 6133d ago )

seriously! its a proven fact that color and the amount of cupholders, are the main influince on w0men when that want to buy a car.

all im saying is that marketing to females is tricky business, can anyone come up with a better slogan that isnt offensive?

and my name is "TROLL""IMITE because dolimite was taken. and i couldnt think of another username at the time!

on second thought, i was a huge asshhole, i souldnt have called her a b****, for that i am truly sorry!

Well, I think the point isn't so much about the COLOR, but about the assumption that girls only speak in text speak and are only interested in something if it carries the Hannah Montana brand (or something similar). I personally picked up this set because I love the color, but am promptly going to sell the HM stuff on ebay. I had found the set before I saw the marketing campaign, and personally had to roll my eyes about it. The video game industry tends to assume that all girls want are pink games about putting on make-up or Barbie riding horses. While of course there are plenty of girls who DO like that sort of thing, that isn't necessarily true. Not all girls only like games about shopping.

And I think her point about the "Blackz play too" is that putting women into one stereotyped category is on par of doing the same thing to blacks or homosexuals or whatever.

All the same, I am happy Sony introduced this color. Just wish they would sell it by itself and realize that about 75% of the people who want the color don't give a rat's rear about Hannah Montana, and are just women who are attracted to something less masculine than black, white, blue, or silver.

Companies aren't advertising to individuals and unique personas. They're trying to market to the broadest demographic possible, which means appealing to generalities and stereotypes. It is "tricky business" to try reaching out to any one group without offending.

I agree with the Twitter thing. It's a crap thing for gaming news used only to tease meaningless info and hype so the substantial stuff can be revealed through more traditional sources. I do not give a good god damn about Dave buying a new hat in the bayou.

K-Tuck6133d ago

Now that I know the basis, Trollimite is a good pun. Well done, sir.

FamilyGuy6133d ago

Must've really been too offensive since they took the whole thing down. They couldn't even save it with editing they had to remove it all together.

1.Halo
2.Microsoft
3.Expensive DLC

Gone is the day when Gaming was about us gamers and fun games which the developers loved making for us, now everything is about Microsoft sales charts. A games quality is measured in how well its selling......
The Microsofts games come from marketing meetings and sales charts.
Sonys games come from the heart of developers.

d_dogg20076133d ago

Amen brother, the sooner poeple realize the sooner we can get rid of microsoft from ruining our game industry and get back to sony quality all day everyday

There wasn't one word, sentence, or even idea expressed in this article that did not offend the very core of my being.
